The still in use rear beacon shines a laser beam down the bay, basically towards the Eastern Light House at McCrae. When the Tasmanian Ferries docked at Station Pier, if you were coming up the Bay pre dawn, and stood on the front deck, you could see the laser beam.
Mr. Mallis, go do a video essay on the neighbouring area, "Green City" or Garden City, also nicknamed, "Bagdad" . It was a 1930's housing experiment gone wrong. And it still is a dysfunctional estate today.
