I have made the exact upgrade with a custom pure copper probe and 16mm2 welding cables. With the 30 value, I could successfully welded the 0.2mm nickel plated sheets. Thank you man.
the more mosfet the Better! maximum amp every mosfet 478 so 10×478=4,780A means if your battery can deliver 2000A so this circuits can Mannage for 2000A but for only about millisecond. I write it down the mosfet link to the description. I used copper tube and 0.4mm round bar copper then at edge I make like an ice cream cone.

no more room available for another mosfet and I think the circuit controller for mosfet design for only 10 mosfet thats why the manufacturer leave extra space for another five mosfet.
@stephen8385: Remember the LARGE gate capacitance of FETs. Make sure that you have a FET driver that can switch that heavy load fast enough to not overheat the FETs.....
kindly please asked the seller what sort of mosfet they instaled to the board. however without added other 5 mosfet you can still use the board. but if you want more amp capacity for safety you should add another 5 mosfet one day

Check the resistance of the resistor to the gate of mosfet signal controller if good check every mosfet. what sort of spot welding you have coz their are two type of chinese cheap spot welding one with octocupler acting a relay to the spot welding one without octocupler. only a microchip time controller?

I am not pretty sure! more over I did not tried supercap my advice kindly please asked the seller. as far as I remember the circuit can be supply from 9V up to 16V.
You should replace all of them even if 1 of them is blown! And replacing them with 7 new ones from the same batch/reel in a row...and do no forget to solder 7-8 beefy diodes from drains to plus pole of the battery for preventing the flyback of the wires killing your mosfets again. Or one extra mosfet and use it as a diode by soldering gate and source together and solder to the drain of all other board mosfets and the drain to plus of the battery hence using the inherent diode inside as a diode. On these boards the thing is that the switchoff time is so long that the mosfets heat up and blow up...

I replaced my mind and it's working pretty well 209 and 228 it's pretty relevant data specs. The more MOSFET the better protection. It will increase more amp limits. But it's all up to you...

Kindly please compare the data or specs , if it is the same well it will work but if it is not so don't replace it the MOSFET. The RDS on of IRLS3040 isn't compatible to 209

I bought the same spot welder. Original there are " IRL40SC228 " Mosfet installed. Is it necessary to buy the same or can I also use the "IRL40SC209"? Does it matter if I installed 2 different Mosfet?
It must be all mosfet are the same IRL40SC228 better mosfet than to IRL40SC209, coz 228 can Mannage 557A where as 209 can only handle 475A so if I were you If stay 228

This is the first version so the manufacturer installed IRL40SC209. But I saw a few reviews on TH-cam same board and installed IRL40SC228. I think I provide a link direct to the seller where I purchased the item. It depends on the board what sort of MOSFET installed.

I order MOSFET from ali-express which is cheap. clone and original are both working pretty well. if you buy original it is awkward to install cheap board spot welding. coz it cost more than the cheap spot welder board.
Can you test the pulse timing of these 99 mode spot welders on different modes? I don't have a oscilloscope, I believe I seen you mentioning timing of 7/8 mode ones once in a video. 😅
Sorry I don't have also oscilloscope, however the purple spot weld is the latest version 2022 model and more firmly compare to other cheapest spot welding, but if you buy you must communicate the seller first coz their are a few seller sell shit or not authentic from the first version.
Try checking the MOSFET if there is Any short and the two resistors near the output. If all is good surely the micro controller chip has the problem. Unfortunately I didn't know how to program even if you can replace that.

That is not brass but copper...I don't believe you needed the extra mosfets, 5 of them are more than enough for all you did but you needed a better batteri for the extra current needed . 5 of the mosfets can endure 2500A that you never gonna get with those batteries...

0.2 or 0.3mm round bar it is enough because the manufacturer already installed 0.2mm round bar.
Does the positive lead from the battery even need to be attached to the board? It doesn't look like its doing anything on the board.
It depends on you what you like. you can modified however the board need a power source to operate the spot welding.

What sort of PCB board that you have? READ the specificatin of the mosfet f1324S-7P if similar then you can but if not similar so not compa table.

It depends on the maximum power of the battery. You'll need to Calculate to avoid blown MOSFET.

From batteries to board 8 gauge up to welding pen, however if you have 6 gauge it is better.
With 5 extra mosfet the more power is affective upper in normal use.. is it worth to do this upgrade?

What is the maximum voltage for 4S 100C? If the 4S exceeds 16V surely the controller of the MOSFET is broken due to over voltage.

Could you tell me what temperature you used for the solder on the back of the board for the new mosfets?
60 watts at 450 Celcius but you need to make it faster by soldering the MOSFET to avoid not functioning.
