    Can these be frozen with the fondant?

    • @ReneeRomeo
      @ReneeRomeo  ปีที่แล้ว

      erika, I have never put these in the freezer with fondant on. I freeze the cookies - up to many weeks in advance - and decorate them a couple of weeks in advance. I package them individually so that they stay fresh until the event. I would love to hear about your luck if you freeze them decorated. All the best, Renee

    Hi Renee, How long can you keep the cookies at room temperature once you've covered the cookies in the fondant? Also once they're covered how long will they last in a cello bag? Thanks

    • @ReneeRomeo
      @ReneeRomeo  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Le'Shaye, I would make sure to put them away at the end of the day - either in ziploc, plastic storage containers or cellophane bags because the fondant will dry out. In the case of my cookies, once I place them in cellophane bags and secure the tops, they can stay up to 3 weeks without getting stale - yes!! This makes it great if you want to get a head start on an upcoming event. If you haven't seen my sugar cookie recipe video, please check it out here: reneeromeo.com/2017/05/26/my-best-cut-out-sugar-cookies-recipe/

    Renee, do you package them immensely? To keep the fondant soft or do you let it dry over night and then package?

    • @ReneeRomeo
      @ReneeRomeo  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Excellent question Sara! I let them dry until just before bed (or about 4+ hours) before packaging. It doesn't take long to package them so this works out best for me. Have fun making these. They're always a big hit! All the best, Renee

    • @ReneeRomeo
      @ReneeRomeo  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      CeeJayMars, Unfortunately, I don't. It's been on my to-do list for quite some time. Here's my secret though: Do only 2 layers per bag, separated by a layer of wax paper. Then close the bag most of the way, insert a straw and suck out the air with your mouth. It works great!! They stay for months. I hope this helps. Keep a look out for the video in the future. I'm remodeling my kitchen right now and it seems like such a long way off... All the best, Renee

It's my therapy 😊 I have heard that others charge around $3.00 - $4.00 per cookie (that's just hearsay though). I hope this helps! Does anyone else have this information for Veronica? How far in advance can I make these? How long will they last wrapped in the plastic?

    • @ReneeRomeo
      @ReneeRomeo  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Maxine Romualdo, You can make the cookies up to 3 months in advance if you freeze them. I place them in two layers, separated by wax paper in a zippered freezer bag. Then I suck the air out of the corner with a straw until they look vacuum-sealed. Make sure you place the bottom layer on a solid surface (like a cutting board) to avoid crumbling and freeze them. Let defrost for 2 hours before decorating. This is what I did for mine. I decorated them a week before the event and placed them in cellophane bags with a twist tie. They were just as fresh as the day I baked them. However, I saved a few bagged cookies to experiment with and I tested each one a week after, 2 weeks after, 3 weeks after and a month after the event. At three weeks they were still perfect, at a month they were only SLIGHTLY crunchy. So, if you want to make them a month ahead of time, under bake the cookies SLIGHTLY and they will be perfect for the event. All the best, Renee

    What can you use instead of the sugar glue...a drop of water?

    • @ReneeRomeo
      @ReneeRomeo  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Asli Gilanlioglu, I would mix a little bit of granular sugar into the water. It will perform more like glue. Water alone will not allow it to stick as well. Try making the consistency of the water/sugar mixture a little bit like runny Elmer's glue. It will work great! Thanks for the question! All the best, Renee

    Could this work with royal icing?

    • @ReneeRomeo
      @ReneeRomeo  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      GloryAnn parrish, This is an excellent question! My answer is no because I think it will cause the royal icing to crack under the weight of the stamp. Believe it or not, I found the fondant to be a quicker process than royal icing because there's no waiting for things to dry in between steps. I really enjoyed the decorating process - I think you will too! All the best, Renee
