    Our weather man has missed it the last day or two and this afternoon it has rained hard. Nice hot fire again and the place is looking great. Good job buddy.

      It sprinkled on me for about 10 minutes this evening. I'm glad we missed the rain. It's just now getting dried up a little.

    I remember some of the older cat dozers and track loaders had a pusher fan so the radiator and coolers could clog up with oil and dust instead of just dust. We’d use the track loader to blow on the fire the next morning to get it going. That was when fuel was under $2 a gallon.

      Have you ever used one of those brush fire fans?

      @@smithworx1091 I’ve used the actual PPV Windjammer and Ventry a few times for ‘training’ when I was on the Fire Department. For a donation we’d burn slash piles if they spread out some of the material to burn for actual training. The Ventry puts out some serious wind for its size and weight, and it’s very stable on three legs. I think the Fire Department paid around $3,000. We’d burn a 3 day pile on one long day. The only thing that worked better was a Buffalo turbine blower but lots of embers and $$$$$$$$. The Buffalo turbine has a mister option that can handle 20 some gallons per minute. I think it drank a lot of fuel too but I’m not sure, the Ventry does great on fuel.

      @@PurpleNovember I'd like to have just a small fan instead of the leaf blower.

      @PurpleNovember ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@smithworx1091 there’s no comparison at all between a Ventry and a leaf blower, even the walk behind. I’ve thought about trying to make my own with a big RC prop or something like that.

I’m sure it gets daunting at times but you’re doing a great job. Little guys like me looking up to guys who have made it as far as you have. I’m still ready to see 1000 subs. It's a good thing that the weather man lied. It gives you more time to get those trees burned. Hopefully you will get this job done before the weather gets it right. Because you know when he does it's going to rain for a week. Glad you got some time on the D3 because you haven't even got any of the paint wore off the blade or the tracks yet. Enjoyed the video Be Safe Out There.

      The storms have been getting about 15 miles south of us and then they brake up and it drizzles just enough to wet the grass. It's forecasted to rain everyday for the next week here.

    Are there any pros and cons to digging a pit then burning vs just stacking it up to burn.

    • @smithworx1091
      @smithworx1091  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I prefer a pit. But my opinion, it just matters your situation and what you're burning. These pines burn up fast and nothing left. So stacking on the ground isn't too bad. If it was hardwood, a pit would be much better. But the cons to a pit is worrying about rain and if you don't have to worry about anything being built in that spot. Hope this helps!

  • @Southalabamaoutdoors

    Why not make a couple of burn piles to get more done faster?

    • @smithworx1091
      @smithworx1091  ปีที่แล้ว

      I had thought about it. By the time I make a round with the 313 and chainsaw, the fire is ready to be stacked again. I don't really have the room for another fire and be able to stay away from it while I take more trees down.
