I was spell bound watching his performance. Yes and handsome to. If ever someone deserved it, he sure does. If he doesn't than shame on the academy. It's not a popularity contest or who scratches who's back in Hollywood, it is for the role that had you setting on the edge of your seat...and his sure did.
this guy is a great actor and i like hearing him speak about this role....best character in the best movie I have seen in a LONG time!!.. BRAVO WALTZ!!!
he made the movie. the movie was awesome. the movie might win an oscar, but this guy should absolutely win an oscar. hope to see him in many more films in america
exactly.he speaks four languages and is a genius actor, it's amazing that the world only discovers him now! he also seems like a really smart person, unlike many other great actors
The first scene of this movie is one of the most unbelievable things I've seen in film, this man portrays a character unlike anything I've seen before--and definitely unlike any stereotypical figure of the Nazi--he's not only evil, but cruel in an absurd, ironic, even comical way, that scene was an extraordinary mingle of comedy and tragedy. He's impeccable throughout the whole movie.
Dam! He can speak better english than me! He has such a wide range in his vocabulary, I need to read more or something. Brilliant, ...he should get the oscar
There are a lot of German immigrants in my hometown who've often come there for work, and they all speak English that well - you almost can't tell they have an accent at all except for certain consonant or vowel sounds. I couldn't help thinking that they must have an excellent education system. =)
Quentin is just an inspiring screenplay writer and Director, I just love his work but I have to say he did a great decision in hiring Christoph 2 play Hans Landa because his acting was incredible...They should both get the golden globes and hopefully oscars, Awesome movie!!!!!!!
I'm also very happy he's finally become internationally famous. This man has incredible skills and I definitely want to continue seeing him on the big screen. He did an amazing job in "Inglourious Basterds" (Adam Carolla predicted he'd win that Oscar, I was absolutely hoping he would and he did) and I was very glad to see him again in "Django Unchained." Stole every scene he was in except the ones with Leonardo DiCaprio (who's ethnic German-American, BTW), and they both stole those scenes. =)
@jakep42zer0 Absolutely. Normally I couldn't care less about the Oscars but he's a shoe-in for the best supporting actor; far more so than even the late Heath Ledger.
@gmhmilenio Christoph gave one of the most brilliant performance in the history of cinema, no doubt. Tarantino gave him his american career and he gave Tarantino one of the best movies ever :)
This man was incredible and so evil in the movie. He was WORTHY of that Oscar. Hopefully he's best villain in MTV. But since last year, I don't trust MTV.
Tarantino gets the best performance of the actors, Travolta (Pulp Fiction) , David Carradine (Kill Bill), Kurt Russell (Death Proof) , Samuel L. Jackson (Pulp Fiction and Jackie Brown)...and Christoph Waltz (Inglourious Basterds)
when i first saw the beginning of the movie i hated mr. waltz's character.. i swear i would have thrown a shoe at the dude if i ever saw him on the street, but as the story unfold i sorta understood his complex role, he wasnt a bad guy he was just really good at doing his job (and working for the badguys). great actor NO DOUBT!
Academy award fir this amazing Austrian actor whom I had no idea about before. He contradicts the stereotype of German speakers´ poor English. Tarantino is amazing - it needed 65 years and his genius to make a movie about the ultimate Jewish revenge on the Nazi sickos
ja allerdings hat er sich für seine filmische karriere größtenteils in deutschland vorbereitet ;) OMG wie nerdig, jetz langts, sind wir uns einig dass wir uns unenig sind! And why in english? I guess so everyone can read our freakin awesome and inteligent conversation XD
all of you english people cant understand him i am from austria and there is nearly no family, which had not lost one or more relatives in the time of the 2nd world war :(
@flessenkoning is his accent really annoying?:D It's funny because i'm hungarian and my english isn't perfect and every words of his is perfectly understandable to me:D (and hungarian is not near german)
how? the only similarity i see is that he's accent is the same...wich makes sense cause he's from Austria, what do u mean he seems the same? does he really look like a sadistic crazy killer to u in this interview?( im just asking no offense)
tsfortune - actually he lives in great britain... he should speak that well. i'm more impressed about his french and italian speaking skills. a great and very charismatic actor!!!11eins
It's a damn DAMN shame that it needs a Quentin Tarantino to discover Walz's talent and put him in an important role. I'm an Austrian and I was unaware of Walz because he was put in some stupid cheap ass Austrian TV shows and TV movies that I can't bear to watch (mostly throwaway roles). Other actors who not even have a fraction of his talent get stuff shoved up their ass by the Austrian media all the time. I'm glad Walz got this role. And I hope we will see more of him on an international level.
i dunno he speaks more proper english, but not necessarily better i mean like as you get a better understanding of a language you can move around and take shortcuts. so "what in the fuck y'all talking about up in here" is in fact better english than "evil is a generalization that you cannot possibly translate into an action"
i think if you put an ss uniform on certain people they will instantly become evil,Christoph became evil infact i would need to be convinced Christoph wasnt evil even though we know he is an actor and obviously a nice fella he still has a very happy physcho thing going on!!!
he is sooo charming. the way he talks, the way he moves
Christoph Waltz looks so good. He must've been so very handsome when he was younger.
God, he is SO smart. You can tell he's on a completely different plane of thought than almost any other actor I've heard speak.
His hair, he needs to just have it be like this forever, this is definitely his best look.
he is adorable! his voice is so cute and charming, and has a lovely smile
I'd date him...no matter his age...lol
I was spell bound watching his performance. Yes and handsome to. If ever someone deserved it, he sure does. If he doesn't than shame on the academy. It's not a popularity contest or who scratches who's back in Hollywood, it is for the role that had you setting on the edge of your seat...and his sure did.
Outstanding performance. Amazing actor.
He definitly played one of the coolest roles ever :D
Even ppl I know who totally hate tarantino movies said that its one of the best characters ever.
Christoph definitely made this movie, he was very fun to watch.

Finally we have ONE thing in Austria to be proud of: Christoph Waltz :)

Oscar well deserved, Christoph.
He owned the movie!
exactly.he speaks four languages and is a genius actor, it's amazing that the world only discovers him now! he also seems like a really smart person, unlike many other great actors
Christoph is one handsome devil.
He's also hella charming.

He did an AWESOME job in the movie
He was GREAT

Yeah that rocked. And so did Hammersmark reaction after that laugh
I couldn't agree with you more. very well said.
wow, what a smart dude
The first scene of this movie is one of the most unbelievable things I've seen in film, this man portrays a character unlike anything I've seen before--and definitely unlike any stereotypical figure of the Nazi--he's not only evil, but cruel in an absurd, ironic, even comical way, that scene was an extraordinary mingle of comedy and tragedy. the actor who played hellstrom is August Diehl he was good!! but gotta give respect
to Christoph Waltz hands down he better win the oscar come 2010!!
Dam! He can speak better english than me! He has such a wide range in his vocabulary, I need to read more or something. Brilliant, ...he should get the oscar
If Christoph does not win an oscar it will be a crime
There are a lot of German immigrants in my hometown who've often come there for work, and they all speak English that well - you almost can't tell they have an accent at all except for certain consonant or vowel sounds. I couldn't help thinking that they must have an excellent education system. =)

he is bizarrely attractive as hans landa :D
So true!
very intelligent man.
Can he get an Oscar for this film? Does it qualify? Because he should 1,000,000,000% get one!
I'm also very happy he's finally become internationally famous. This man has incredible skills and I definitely want to continue seeing him on the big screen. cool, this guy asked some good questions
Goog interview! And better actor. He's amazing!!
It's even more weird, I am German too, and read the english comment of an other German about... yeah.. you wrote it already :P
he ' ll better win the oscar
word!
LOL @ beginning :P Christoph's awesome...
he was great in the movie... he really pissed me off... hahaha great actor...
I even watched the "Roy Black Story" because of him°°
Well, in our defense, I always find it quite difficult not to like the bad guys in a Tarantino script.
this guy should play a bond villian, or bond
@jakep42zer0 Absolutely. Normally I couldn't care less about the Oscars but he's a shoe-in for the best supporting actor; far more so than even the late Heath Ledger.
@gmhmilenio Christoph gave one of the most brilliant performance in the history of cinema, no doubt. Tarantino gave him his american career and he gave Tarantino one of the best movies ever :)
That's a bingo!!!
This man was incredible and so evil in the movie. He was WORTHY of that Oscar. Hopefully he's best villain in MTV. But since last year, I don't trust MTV.
yes we all know that. thank you sherlock.
I also would like to know this
Hes fucking cool!
Tarantino gets the best performance of the actors, Travolta (Pulp Fiction) , David Carradine (Kill Bill), Kurt Russell (Death Proof) , Samuel L. Jackson (Pulp Fiction and Jackie Brown)...and Christoph Waltz (Inglourious Basterds)
First came Joker from Batman now Hans Landa. :) so many good villains
THAT'S A BINGO!
@TheNewEmphinix Nope, he lost to Malfoy in Harry Potter; I was really pissed too
well anyways....danke 4 the upload ;)
He`s a good AUSTRIAN actor.
@TheBoysAreBacknCtown Haha. Good to know I'm not alone. =)
i think so too, but i thought i was weird for thinking it... hahaha
when i first saw the beginning of the movie i hated mr. waltz's character.. i swear i would have thrown a shoe at the dude if i ever saw him on the street, but as the story unfold i sorta understood his complex role, he wasnt a bad guy he was just really good at doing his job (and working for the badguys). great actor NO DOUBT!
@Verooo007 - don't you have good beer??
Academy award fir this amazing Austrian actor whom I had no idea about before. He contradicts the stereotype of German speakers´ poor English. Tarantino is amazing - it needed 65 years and his genius to make a movie about the ultimate Jewish revenge on the Nazi sickos

@flessenkoning is his accent really annoying?:D It's funny because i'm hungarian and my english isn't perfect and every words of his is perfectly understandable to me:D (and hungarian is not near german)
We don't set the bar very high.
how? the only similarity i see is that he's accent is the same...wich makes sense cause he's from Austria, what do u mean he seems the same? does he really look like a sadistic crazy killer to u in this interview?( im just asking no offense)

that guy's very handsome in kind of college professor sort of way... sorry, random.
@PurpleOctopus15 im with you lol.
His language skills freak me out. I mean really, how good can you get at it?
He's Austrian! From Vienna. Not German.
Oscar please!
Tarantino was thinking of casting Leonardo Dicaprio for Hans part! Thank's god he didn't hire him...
It's a damn DAMN shame that it needs a Quentin Tarantino to discover Walz's talent and put him in an important role. Better *than. Most of us do.
This guy didnt actually conduct the interview right?
i dunno he speaks more proper english, but not necessarily better i mean like as you get a better understanding of a language you can move around and take shortcuts. so "what in the fuck y'all talking about up in here" is in fact better english than "evil is a generalization that you cannot possibly translate into an action"
