I’m rewatching the 31 days. I have kept up with my routines. My home office is so nice looking I love being in there! I believe finding you in October of 2017 saved me. It will be two years this August that I lost my dear 38 year old daughter. This is such a blessing as I don’t have to think on very hard days. I just do it. I think I’ve watched every one of your videos. Your sayings come to my mind so often. I don’t have to do it perfectly. I can roll my eyes but do it. You’re such a help to people all over the world! It’s amazing how I can go to Denmark everyday! Because of wonderful technology! God bless you Diane! Thank you for stirring my interest in the Scandinavian countries.
I am on vacation from work for a week and am middle of the night binge watching your babystep videos. I skipped these steps for years, but now I am committed to doing the plan as recommended. Your videos are perfect for a woman like me. They are clear, fast moving, informative and fun. Thank you!
I added 15 mins of reading time to my bedtime routine a few weeks back! For years I've been wanting to read more but never doing it. I've read 3 books in the last 3 weeks and it feels fantastic!
Kath Langmead Years ago I decided, after I graduated college, I finally one day that I FINALLY had time to start reading the great classic novels, which I had only heard about, or seen movies or TV shows about, but never actually read the actual books before. So I got Mark Twain’s “Adventures of Tom Sawyer” and “Huck Finn” to start with. Instead of setting a timer, I just decided to read just before bed, laying in bed, every night, just read till I got sleepy while reading. Every night. It took a whole year to read each book that way. (After all both are very thick!!) But for each of those 2 years I had the most wonderful, vivid, entertaining dreams every night, rafting down the Mississippi River with Tom and Huck!!
Thank you for sharing about how you lost your spark because that's what happened to me. I fell into a deep, dark depression for the last 10- 15 years. I am a single parent but now my sons are in their 30's and I wonder where the time went! I am now slowly living life again and have hope that I will love myself and be ready to fly like you say.
Sending you affection after all the years you have posted this message and best wishes for you. I am starting to contemplate taking the Babysteps all the way from the start.
I just started flylady with Diane, and it is just an amazing thing. I love how Diane is encouraging, yet calm simultaneously. The shining the sink in the evening has really grounded me. I needed this desperately, and am so happy that I found this vlogger.
I knew what pamper time was but listening to you explain it and discuss it as it applies to the flylady process is so helpful. Sharing your personal experience with all of us is wonderful and such a gift. Thank you. (Like missmayflower I had way to much 'me' time in my day and not enough 'taking care of the house' time...so I'm beginning to straighten that out that as well)
Oh Diane, please don't apologise for Tweet & Sparky....I love to hear the chirping in the background, they are so full of the joys of life...just what all Flybabies should be aiming for...they are a sweet reminder. I nearly cried when you said about finally giving in to Marla and buying the plant...it's that permission to treat ourselves because we need reminding occasionally that we are worthwhile. Golly...emotional wreck! Haha! This one is not something I would consciously do...so this is going to be interesting...thank you....and nearly there!! What am I going to do without you! xx
Hello, I've been doing the 31 babysteps. I lost of my routine when I left my corporate job for working on the farm & kennel. My hubby & I flipped a coin to see which of us would make a change. That was 15 years ago. 10 years into a successful new life tragic events just kept coming for 5 years...pulling out of survival mode with a healthy physically & mentally family intact is a blessing. I found my spark dulled and tired. Thank you for helping me getting it together again. The routines (just like when the work was going and kids were little) I can do in my sleep. In the 31 days somewhere, you talked about not feeling bitter about doing some chores they just became routine. YES! I started feeling like just a cleaning lady and just a dog person and just a farmer....not a high end corporate person that I had been. I displaced my personal value - not a phd with a vibrant life. It has taken me longer than 31 days to go through the steps...closer to 60 days. I really wanted the routines firmly in place. I have seen the spill over effects that you and mariela talked about! I'm 48 this video hit home! My DD17 just turned 17 yesterday. I'm welcoming a nest change. Watching the 2019 garden video and zone...I cryed with joy as I'm not alone as you talked about the well used playhouse. We have one of those and good memories - I LOVE how you honor those times but did not go into empty nest and grandkids....but focus on painting and swimming and your friends and activities and Northside concerts....many folks around me are starting to wonder what to do.until grandbabies (not me we were married 10.years before kids). I hope my DD flies her way and has relationships & kids when she's ready. Back to topic, I ve thought as exercise as pampering (hahaha) at this stage its maintance of me just as much of a routine as anything else. Pampering in not exercise.....Thank you for being so real!
Thanks, Mary Beth! The easiest way to look together is to look out your outfit in advance - it gives us that extra minute to choose a necklace, scarf, pair of earrings, etc. Those small things which make a big difference. Good luck!
thank you, Diane. pampering is so important to ensure balance. thanks for reminding us that we are important and need to pamper ourselves. have a great week ahead. :-)
Diane dear, you are as always inspiring and I love your enthusiasm. As you have often mentioned, I learned to give myself permission not to do things Perfectly, none the less i have tried to keep up with you. since i have been married for the better half of my life with an Englishman, i enjoy my pamper time with a cuppa tea and your video. Thank you as always.
Haha. My problem is too much me time/pamper time and not enough housework. However, when you told the story about buying the plant for the coffee table, I understood. I used to always buy flowers for the table and stopped a few years ago. It was a very important symbol, and it also made me clear away the area to display the flowers nicely. It had a ripple effect the same way shining the sink does.
Hey! I did this without knowing this was the step! I am getting to this later in the day because I have had a migraine. Took a day off, took my toddling son (who learned to walk today!) to the local coffee shop and relaxed there for about 20 mins before I went home to make dinner. I think I am doing well on all steps except missions. I am doing an extra declutter instead like the 40 days of decluttering Flylady is running now. 18 months of bedrest leaves a lot of clutter for me to clear out before I can actually clean. And all my other cleaning is trying to minimize Mr Mischief’s messes. Today I tackled his room (it has taken 2 weeks since I had to make several structural repairs first,) and now it is mostly baby proof. He spent much of today running around it discovering the new things to play with
dearest Diane, I have been following you for quite some time now...and you have truly been the cutest bright cheerleader and wonderful fairy with sprinkle dust of Light :-) in November I have (once again) restarted the babysteps, since my house is SLIGHTLY less decluttered finally (I have been working on it consistently, it is still in chaos but not as much as before) it has been and still is a difficult journey, between chaos and depression, and your videos are truly helpful THANK YOU this is the first time I have come so far actually managing to keep up with the babysteps. this pamper thing is so difficult for me because I somehow feel I do not deserve it and I feel like I lose so much time...but I totally get it, why it is so important. So just like you said, since I have been doing all the rest, I am going to try...today is the 29th of November 2018 and I will incorporate pamper and self-care, even imperfectly. sending you love and light bellissima! xxxx
You are so lovely, and I love your Scottish accent. You are so motivational because you really tell us how to do it without beating ourselves up trying to be perfect.
To this day, I think this sweater is my favourite. To be 100% honest, it's part of what drew me to your first baby step video, which was the first of yours that I watched 😊
I've been "working along with ya" for almost two years now and I can't thank you enough for the wonderful changes that your encouragement, lessons and example have brought into my life. Today I rewatched this great video you made about pamper time to remind myself why it is so important. Earlier this year I found out that I have ADHD and now understand completely why the fly lady routines make my life so much better. Your daily videos keep me interested and on track. Very recently my father passed away and starting my routines every day has helped me to feel normal and get back engaged in life if I'm feeling down. I know that in the days ahead, continuing my routines will help me tremendously... any time I need a pick me up, I pop on one of your old videos and get to work. I am also going to adapt the routines to my artistic life... an area that I have always sacrificed because I had other things that were "more important" to take care of first. Now I see that I can do it all and not sacrifice anything. Thank you!!!!
I took my water today: more than 2,5 litres of water or even more cause I several times got a new waterbottle I did a 15 mins pamper mission: dry porridge with butter, sugar and cocoa powder - delicious!!!, painted a bit of my nails, ate a kakhi=sharon-fruit, took some nice moisturizer sample, read a nice chapter of the book of books: psalm 139. I am very glad about that pamper mission. I should pamper every day - but far away from this Hope I will get there
I am a bit too good at sitting down but usually it’s watching tv and for too long . I think because I don’t have any kids or a husband I have a lot of free time .need to make the pamper time more purposeful. X
Being 32 weeks pregnant I've had to be so patient with myself on getting this baby steps started because I often have to sit and rest after just a few minutes. Also, my morning routine is punctuated with a nap the last few days!
Thanks, I started a list in my agenda of ideas. The hardest part for me is trying to pamper myself in a way that actually seems like pampering. I don't really like thinks like lotions or pedicures, or painting my nails so trying to find something that was distinctly for me that I actually enjoy has been quite difficult. Then I remembered some old joys; writing drawing, reading... that have been neglected for years. I think I can dedicate 15 minutes a day to myself...
Not this weekend but the weekend before I did some pampering and this evening I washed my hair which will be very nice to go to bed with washed hair, cause I am used to go to bed with frumpy hair and to only wash it in the morning, but perhaps I will go to get this new habit of washing my hair in the evening of every second day as this does really s.th. good to me.
Thank you for sharing. I work and I'm trying to include a morning and evening routine as well as 15 minutes decluttering etc. This self care time is so needed. I am really going to try and do this. Thanks again Diane! :))
idi0002 here: your message was a balm for my soul. First I was anxious as I did not know how to pamper myself and I think it took me today in total one hour (read flylady pamper hints and found one which suited me but I had to transform it to fit to myself and bought some new nail hardener and did the following actions): I started a nice turquoise textile box from Ikea and put my fluffy slippers in there, a dozen of nice tea bags, two perfumes, some creams, a scented candle a nice hair clipper, some peppermint drops in a cute sheep box and rubbing alcohol for my legs and a baby lotion for after showering or just like that. This all I had at home. In addition to this when I went shopping today I bought a nail hardener and when I came home, I made a hot chocolate and ate some dry porridge flakes with butter and cocoa powder and suger, I mixed and then enjoyed it and hardened my nails. I am that lucky and today was the first day that I got an idea what pampering means to me. When I watched the pamper video, I really was anxious because I had no idea of it - but I knew, if there is a day in my life to learn pampering, this must be today and I have to take at least 30 minutes or one hour to really take care of this matter and take it for serious. Thank you, Diane
I have to admit, this has been the hardest thing to do for me. It's been 31 yrs since I've thought about me time. This s my year though. My youngest daughter is in college now and I deserve it, right?! Thanks Diane for the great basket tip. I love your videos and Flylady. Finally loving me😊
Kathy, you know how the experts tell us in an airplane emergency to put our oxygen mask on FIRST ...THEN put the mask on our kids? well, the Flyladys acronym "Finally" loving yourself just sounds like we are still putting ourselves last FINALLY. But i think it should be FIRST Love Yourself! no one can live our life for us just as we cant live others lives for them, ... only we can feel the rain on our own skin. 😉
Hi, Diane--. "self care" is difficult for me. Gonna try, 'tho. See if re-casting it in different scenarios might do the trick! Thank you much for your encouragement.
Had to laugh when I thought of somebody you know (any family member) walking in on YOUR 15-minutes of “me-time”... and you’re wearing your big puffy slippers, ... your headphones OVER your sleep mask, ... while holding up your book or magazine in front of you (as if you’re reading it) EXCEPT ... with the sleep mask on!! LOL!!!!! 😂 😆 😝 Too funny!!
Hey again I missed yesterday. onted to post for my 29th day in the 31 babysteps. I think, because I had watched 3 at once, I forgot. It was on my plan list yesterday. See you in the next video, as today is actually day 30 for me :-D
I keep a bag of crochet near my recliner and a few books I'm in the process of reading, on my side table. Also keep some lotion there as well. Being a Trekkie myself somewhat, I love how you sign off with the Vulcan Live Long and Prosper, including the hand sign! LOL
Hi Diane, So excited to hear you are Scottish. I just recently traced my father's ancestry back to Jura, Argyll, Scotland, it was so exciting to learn so much about his family. I lost my father when I was only 7 and never really knew much about his side of the family. My DNA result show that I am 78% Scottish...small world we live in. I have just found your video channel this week and I think you are adorable and very informative. Sending love you way.
Dear Diane, I love the videos you are making as they remind me to go back to the wonderful flylady system I have started a couple or years ago but due to overwhelming stress I had neglected in the last months. You are such an inspiration for me - you will not guess how: first: I also will be 50 in June (the first) and I have the strong wish to create a new order (out with the old, in with the great) second: my DH and DS (24) and DS (14) will treat me to a trip to a European city - guess what I decided for - beautiful Copenhagen! In case you have any suggestions what a flybaby with similar taste to yours will like, please let me know ;) and third: as you are dressed so beautifully I decided to leave my dark blue /grey outfits in the closet and reconsider my styling. I have a nice ring from my mom and one from my granny that I never think of wearing. I came up with the following idea that I think is great. I kind of loaded the rings with a positive message: my mum always says: "Take care of yourself" - so whenever I need to be reminded I wear her ring and my grandmother said: "We are strong women. We are not afraid of anything." - and whenever I need to be brave I wear hers. And so I seem to connect to their wisdom. Thank you for your inspiration, kindness and positivity love from Austria Knitgudi
I hope to pamper myself. I find it difficult when so much else to do. I really could do with what sparks joy and not worry something will happen if I look after myself for 15 minutes a day.
Hi, Diane, so cute, your little basket, you should only see my several baskets;-)... I'm interested and a bit talented in several things, painting, gardening, cooking, knitting, Yoga...and now, after I retired, I have time for all that. And baskets for all that:-)... The point is: I'm pampering myself enough, but it doesn't feel like pampering, because in the background sits a little gnome, whispering: you should FIRST do this and that... But if I do FIRST this and that, I can't find an end, because things piled up meanwhile. After another marathon mission I'm tired to death and need to take a long pampering time... Well, I think it's time to invite another gnome, whispering: you can do everything for 15 minutes:-). Thank you for being here and sparkling hope! ❣💫 Love, Monika
Hi Monika, if the gnomes are getting in the way, set a fixed time for you to pamper (say, 12 o'clock) and set your timer. The gnomes can look after themselves for 15 minutes ;-)
Does anyone have a recipe for the "dry porridge with butter, sugar and cocoa powder" mentioned in the comments on this post? Many thanks for a moving talk, Diane! x
I have a question. You've talked about 15 minutes of self care before, in baby step 5. What's the difference? Am I suppose to rest or pamper twice a day, or just once? Thank you!
I call it Nuture. And I am actually pretty good at it. My best friend/team is terrible, she actually spent her me-time balancing her budget. But she said she had fun doing it cuz she found she had excess money. Heehee.
I’ve UNfaithfully followed FLY lady for quite a few years now. I would do a home Blessing here and there, swish and swipe etc. But, the program all together seemed too much. So, thank you Diane for making it clear to me and doable ❤️🤍💙 here in Texas.
You are a delightful instructor!
I’m rewatching the 31 days. I have kept up with my routines. My home office is so nice looking I love being in there!
I believe finding you in October of 2017 saved me. It will be two years this August that I lost my dear 38 year old daughter.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I completely agree with you!
I am on vacation from work for a week and am middle of the night binge watching your babystep videos. I skipped these steps for years, but now I am committed to doing the plan as recommended. Your videos are perfect for a woman like me. They are clear, fast moving, informative and fun. Thank you!
I think I'm going to copy the basket idea. This is great advise Diane. Thank you for these wonderful videos. :)

My story is similar. Can testify that the difference in my life is Christ Jesus. Allll the changes began and continue because of Him.

I have to admit, this has been the hardest thing to do for me. It's been 31 yrs since I've thought about me time. This s my year though. My youngest daughter is in college now and I deserve it, right?! Thanks Diane for the great basket tip. I love your videos and Flylady. Finally loving me😊
Yes, Kathy - you deserve it!
Ha ha, I'm a professional pamperer/self care/me time ect ect ect. What I need to learn about is de-cluttering and organizing. Love this video.
LOL!!!!! 😂 😆 😝
Too funny!!
LOL
I love this video and your hair!!
Love your heart too.
This reminded me to get my “mom basket “ together of my homeschool stuff for me !!!
Hi Diane,
So excited to hear you are Scottish.
Welcome here, Faye! 🖐
Diane in Denmark Thank you! ❤️
Dear Diane,
I love the videos you are making as they remind me to go back to the wonderful flylady system I have started a couple or years ago but due to overwhelming stress I had neglected in the last months.
You are such an inspiration for me - you will not guess how:
first: I also will be 50 in June (the first) and I have the strong wish to create a new order (out with the old, in with the great)
second: my DH and DS (24) and DS (14) will treat me to a trip to a European city - guess what I decided for - beautiful Copenhagen! In case you have any suggestions what a flybaby with similar taste to yours will like, please let me know ;)
and third: as you are dressed so beautifully I decided to leave my dark blue /grey outfits in the closet and reconsider my styling.
Thank you for your inspiration, kindness and positivity
love from Austria

THANKS
for I am back for Day 1.
I am back for that DAY.

Welcome back, Joyce!
your basket is cute
This will be new for me! But it is time...perhaps past time.
Thank you😘💕
Does anyone have a recipe for the "dry porridge with butter, sugar and cocoa powder" mentioned in the comments on this post?
Many thanks for a moving talk, Diane! x

Daily??? Ok that sounds lovely! 15 minutes for me :)
Heehee.
A razor headset.... another gamer lady?
Ah I see you borrowed those form the kids. No one would have a gaming headset to listen to meditation :) hehe
LOL! For me, headphones are headphones!
I’ve UNfaithfully followed FLY lady for quite a few years now. I would do a home Blessing here and there, swish and swipe etc. But, the program all together seemed too much. So, thank you Diane for making it clear to me and doable ❤️🤍💙 here in Texas.
