    Not to criticize, but to offer some other ideas. If you want to make the thread accurate to a standard, say ISO or UN, make a triangle and then a line connecting the midpoints of the two sides that are not parallel to the axis. This line will become the pitch diameter. Dimension the line that is parallel to the axis to the pitch of the thread. Now dimension the pitch diameter to your standard. Position the triangle such that when driven by the helix, it will cut where you need it to. Exit this sketch. Make a new sketch where you convert the two sides of your original triangle to lines in the second sketch. Put your nose radius here. Now make a line parallel to the axis, but short of the same line is the first sketch. Trim the corners. This way is a bit more work, but it makes the thread exactly to your standard. Trimming the parallel line short of the first triangle prevents SW from failing to drive on the helix. It helps to hide the first sketch before driving the helix, making it easier to choose the correct sketch to drive. Once the thread is cut, go to the end of the thread. Click on the small surface that is parallel to the axis, click to make a sketch on that surface. While the surface is still highlighted, click on “Convert Entities” to form an outline. Project this as an extruded cut out the side of the thread. You no longer have an abrupt end to the thread, but an smooth exit.

      We can also just use proper standards by taking industry standard threads that exist below hole wizard

    • @dougberrett8094
      @dougberrett8094 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@svrt5832 I seldom use the hole wizard. Does it do tapered threads? Does it do external threads? I suppose it matters what one is modeling, and just how accurate the threads must be. I have modeled quite a few API threads, (both pin and box) where the pitch diameter of the thread is specified at a given distance from the shoulder. The thread form is also specified. Never could get the hole wizard to do those threads. If you know, please let us know how. Thanks.

    I watched the video. There is 1 problem when you dimension the wireframe. It seem to me you dimension the "radius" not "diameter". To correct that when you pick, you pick the center line first then pick the line and drag dimension below the CENTER LINE then it give you a "diameter" dimension instead of "radius".
    Second problem you don't need to create 2 curves (for diamond knurl) just create 1 curve then mirror that curve then do pattern. Try that, let's see it works.
