    That stick fighting is lethal. Great documentary, but can we respect their culture and not call the samurai and call the warriors by their cultural name.

    • @StarLight-sl9ok

      Ya, not really loving the Eurocentric terminology on this channel. Using the words Samurai and witch doctor is very culturally insensitive.

    • @spiralrose
      @spiralrose 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      I think the documentarian is trying to use words that people in a first world might be able to associate with what they’re seeing.
      I saw the word “samurai,” and understood that I was about to watch a show about warriors with a certain level of skill.
      And these warriors MUST be scary with that stick, because a samurai is no minor comparison.
      See how that works?
      I haven’t come to the witch doctor part yet, but maybe they could have called him a shaman instead. Or priest. People would’ve understood either way

    • @spiralrose
      @spiralrose 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      There’s nuance here. Sometimes to help people understand what they’re about to see and how deep it is, you have to compare it to something more well-known.

    • @Xacute00
      @Xacute00 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@spiralrose Yes but that is unhealthy as it gives a false view of the culture which is misrepresenting this beautiful culture which has been cultivated on its own for thousands of years. To be a samurai is much different than just gathering for melee fights or being a warrior, it's a way of life and also a social class within Japan. They worked decent jobs as painters, crafters, and construction/engineering are just a few examples. The warriors in this culture don't do much in the way of work instead saving all their energy for war. Also, Samurai follow the ways of bushido which is to follow your master and avenge them if they were killed creating a very unique hyper loyal society/culture. This culture is different from that and they shouldn't misrepresent a culture by using other people's cultures instead encourage people to learn the names of these warriors and their ways.

    What a wholesome, beautiful people. The heavenly Creator really knew what he was doing when he created mankind in his image.
    Even the elders have smooth, wrinkle free, supple, highly melanated skin, absolutely beautiful. The sooner so called black people realise that melanin is a gift and a blessing from the Creator, the better things will be.
    I don’t call this primitive living, to me it’s living as one with the earth and your Creator. Their only possessions are their cattle. When I look around my London home and realise all the baggage and vanity I’ve collected over the years. I’m so thankful that the Creator has woken me up, and I’m at the stage where I have taken early retirement, to determine what I’m prepared to live without. There is peace and joy in simplicity. HalleluYah.

      Us, Here in America.
      Only thing that's different is their beautiful dark lean melanated bodies. Everyone of them have the same dark skin complexion with great slim body structure.
      They are certainly in their OWN HEAVEN.
      Here in America I call this HELL on earth 🌎 😢.
      LOTS of tall buildings and lots of hard concrete roads and shopping

      No nature to
      Be seen 😢 NO beautiful trees or animals to be seen at times. You have lots of
      Mix races people, a so called melting POT
      Of different races of people
      foods
      That blows you up like a balloon, especially this generation, you look back at the old movies the people in those GENERATIONS look totally different from what the world looks likes today.
      Yes we are all living in the hells of America.
      The great melting salad bowels
      Of mixed races of people truly don't know who they are or where they came from, red, yellow, black or white you
      Are all in that SAME salad bowl of America's mixed races of people.
      Makes you wonder some of US!!!
      Who are the civilized ??
      America or the beautiful
      Strong tribesmen
      In the video

    Their governments could designate protected lands to these tribes to preserve our heritage. It's so sad that LIVING history, selfless humans and human ancestry are at risk of extinction because of greed and power fuelled conflict.

Many people are praising this way of life without really seeing the dead end these guys are in. Sorry but to adapt is to survive. Soon they will have to choose academic education over their ways....learn how to dominate the surroundings and cut the BS with the prayers and the medium...let the women learn on equal terms and stop them from disfiguring their faces and earn more cows in marriage for the father to boast and own, WTF! Happiness? No bloody such thing. Sooo many here sitting behind a screen, burgers in the fridge, mobile ringing and washing machine going, all fascinated by the wildlife on the screen....WTF!!

      How do you feel about that? Serious question. I've been having an enternal battle with myself on it. Part of me thinks its great we get to see it. How would we know they are there? How do we protect their lands and their ways to ensure they thrive? These tribes are closest to early human and how they lived and communicated so its fascinating to see and learn and imagine what life would have been like for humankind and where we came from. Its like the one visual we have of human ancestors. After all...Earth is Mother and Africa is the womb. But then that other part of me is like...do we really need to be introducing seemingly happy people to new technology? I saw another tribe in the Amazon who had no desire to give up their ways. Then the gov came in and gave them luxuries including a TV. It was borderline heartbreaking to see at the end of the doc this group of people gathered staring at the TV instead of what they were doing in the beginning of the doc...jumping in the river, hunting...little small every day hunter-gather tribal unit things. I feel like its all rock and a hard place to learn but also still be respectful and not use them for monetary gain and then not use that money to invest back. So I judge each creators differently- Who are they? What are their other videos? Is there flashy items on their insta? This channel seems "safe" to me. It has 1 million subs. Theres no glitz or HEY GUYS WELCOME TO MY CHANNEL AND TODAY WE GONNA SKIN A GOAT!- *NOT CLICKBAIT* I dont know. I absolutely love this channel and the world-class videos. Having said that, the producer or editor knows nothing about the Samurai to make an analogy like that. There's is literally nothing in this entire video that resembles the Samurai - from weapons, techniques, startegy, tactics, clothing/armor, Bushido code, influence, ethos, psychology, culture, social mores, etc.
    It's best to simply not make the analogy and let the Burnis and Surma represent themselves as they are. There's enough in them to admire, have great respect for, appreciation, and awe without the analogy.

    When they knew not of these armaments the fights( somewhat) were equal . It was the invaded and manipulated lands( by two legged wolves) that had caused this massive killing of one another. This type of Killing( with guns) that which has sadly been done for centres.This has brought killing on a WHOLE NOTHER LEVEL.!😥

    I'm Ethiopian. We don't know our country well. 85 languages. Actually Africa is greater than 3x the size we know in educational map. Sudan alone has the size of half Europe. Even Ethiopia area size is greater than France, German and England combined. In past Ethiopia ruled as far as India and far East. That was 2500-3000 years back. India means hinde ande, one, united and the queens are called hindeke(unifier)

    É bonito ver como um zela pelo outro ajudando-os a embelezarem-se, como são carinhosos e trabalham com tanta ternura e sem estresse o que retiram da floresta, sem danificá-las ou destrui-las.

    Amazing footage and theme... the soundtrack would be better with the music of the Surma.

      Thank you for being the only intelligent comment here. I agree, there's a story on both sides and it makes one curious to know the history and details of both.

    Although I don't agree with the "Out of Africa" theory this is Interesting document.
    Many civilizations shaped by economic warfare develop in interesting ways.

    Thanks for this. Have you considered going to northern Kenya, the turkana tribe share the same culture , appearances and lifestyle. There look very similar. They have wars amongst themselves , are herders and deep rooted in their culture. Actually there is no difference at all from the omo, surma, burmis and turkanas of Kenya.
