Hi, I am Pamela and I garden in the mountains of Northern California. Though I am in Zone 8, I have a short growing season and many challenges that I overcome. I love to talk gardening and share my small, compact, and jam-packed gardens with everyone!

Looks great. I love that deep pink gaura.

Me too! It stays more compact and tends not look 'weedy' as traditional gaura looks to me.

You are so welcome! Right now I am in 'get it ready for next Spring and Summer mode' which is just as fun, for me, as Spring planting.

Zinnias and gomphrena were glorious in this year’s heat.

Yes, and still going strong. Just beautiful, even my roses loved it.

Looks beautiful. Have you tried Presciosa or Magellan zinnias. The flowers are large and they are more disease resistant. They would look beautiful. I grow in containers only in south Florida. I enjoy your posts.

Thank you. I do want to try them next year as I want shorter growing ones. Mine grew so tall this year that many are over my head but I do get to enjoy them from my upstairs windows. Hope you are staying safe!

Did you say you sprinkle flour on the budworms? I'm not sure I heard it right! Lots of loveliness still going on in your garden!

Yes I did. I sprinkle regular wheat flour on the plants using a mesh screen I got at the dollar store, let it sit overnight and wash it off with a hose in the morning or even in the afternoon. The worms eat it and it causes them to die. I try to wash it off as soon as possible and I don't know what this could do to other critters. I tried to get some BT, but I couldn't find any locally.

Did you hear that Annie’s Annuals closed suddenly? So sad.

Yes, they sent me notice. I am so depressed about that, I had a long wish list and was looking forward to going soon. I was wondering when they had a huge 40% off everything (and I couldn't make it, RATS) as I had never seen that kind of sale there. I am sure the original Annie is bummed as well. It wasn't that long ago she sold it to this gal that ended up with health issues and she had to close it down. I do hope they can find some buyers that will reopen it. They said they were in negotiations.
