you've real nice 885 there, great little tractor, but not a big fan of the 12 gang box, regular gear box would do the same job

hello yes you are right with the 4 groups with 3 gears each, some are very close to each other above 10kmh there are only 16 and a big jump to 25kmh, effectively only 8 gears. greetings Karl

Great little tractors , ready starters & run on almost nothing , I beg to differ with the guy below , the more gears , the better , that was all that was missing in a Massey 135 gearbox , more gears !

Hello the MF 135 is a nice oldy, younger types should have a 2x4-speed gearbox. The gearbox works quietly and the gears can be shifted with less effort. The MF is also better when it comes to the supply of spare parts, greetings Karl

Can you tell me how the gears are in this box? It is normally 1, 2 3 4 R but there are more gears in each gear. Is there a reverse here?

The big gear stick has 3 forward gears+ reverse and the small gear stick gives 4 ranges so in total there is 12 forward gears and 4 reverse, each range overlaps with the next so there isn't generally a need to change ranges on the move. I believe the non 12 speed 885 has just 2 ranges in the small gear stick giving 6 forward speed and 2 reverse.
