Things will not be the same. The world has changed, and China has changed. Before, China was rural and agrarian. The CCP was unified. It had disunity at the top, but the cadres were unified (as I see understand it). Now --- China is industrial and urban. Also, then China's wealth was internally created (what there was of it). Now, China gets its wealth from exports and global trade. There was no wealth class then, Now there is a world class wealth class of multi-millionaires. The reaction of the Chinese people to state terror will be different. Personally, I think there is a good chance that China will fall apart. The center may not hold.

Thanks Don. Xi's attempt to homogenize the factions isn't going to work. China has multiple regions with different resources, interests, needs, problems, approaches and solutions. 1 man with limited information does not have the bandwidth to make all the needed decisions. If this is Xi's goal, the whole thing will get torn apart internally by regional factors.
Xi has lost the Mandate of Heaven. Historically, things get really messy when this happens. The Chinese people are very aware of this. On one hand they dread the upheaval that comes when an Emperor falls, but on the other, they know that an unrighteous Emperor will only lead them deeper into an abyss from which they may not emerge.
As the CCP concentrates on their internal conflicts, decision-making will become ever more paralyzed. The economy will likely continue its downward spiral. Interesting times...
Clearly a prelude to an internal power struglle and a purge, but beyond that who knows. Possibly related to uncertainty about the loyalty ithe millitary.
I have to disagree with you on democratic stability. Democracy is historically pretty rare, and it eventually falls to dictatorship. The US and other democratic countries are experimenting with right wing autocracy right now. Ancient Rome might be the best predictive model.

@@jerryrichardson2799 True, but don't bet against it either. Things are in flux, the wheel is spinning and no one knows how things will turn out.
Boycott all chinese products!!!
You are a very convincing story teller.
A truly interesting perspective on what could happen, thanks.
yes, like "the emperor has no cloths" - once the allusion is revealed, it all quickly falls apart

How old is the dude? 71? He isn't going to be around forever.
No, he isn't, but he just has to stay in power long enough. Voted up.
But he has bright, shiny new organs from Xinjiang...

Great Insids and detailed View to China current state
Turning blade inward sounds dangerous
Whiny is the reincarnation of mao, grim. I wrote this before he mentioned mao.
Big power struggle coming.

Everyone in the west should watch this and learn.
Xi Jiping is getting old, and his health is not good, I don’t think he’s going to last much longer, and the sharks are circling!!
I think whiny has a lot of effective shark repellent, alas.

Hi. Your analysis is interesting but the red makeup is distracting. Just feedback. Please ignore if you find suggesting unhelpful. Thx.
Will Taiwan turn its country over to Xi Jinping peacefully and lovingly?
Hopefully not.
