It's going to be about a sasquatch whaile he try to get his master degree in bayesian statistics, in a university located in a Cosmere culture based in the tribes living in the Spanish--French pyrennes border.
A lot of people in the comments are saying stuff like Mistborn or whatever but it'd be nice to have a Cosmere setting that's not as fleshed out as the main books. Threnody would be an interesting setting for a videogame I think. Stardew Valley but you have to avoid the Cognitive Shadows.
Probably an unpopular opinion, but TBH I'd really like if Brandon did some original writing for a video game (so, not related to any Sanderson universe, Cosmere or other), since it's so hard to do properly with already-existing IP. Especially when adapting content from one medium to another. Probably not gonna happen though, in part because it's a somewhat different skillset, even if overlapping with epic fantasy writing.

Next week: Hey guys, I know I said that this would be a 4-book series with a final book the same size as the others. However, I've been thinking about this, and I just thought I needed to add another book, you know? So it's now a twelve book series with all the final books longer than any Stormlight book. Don't expect the release for the final book of the series put back, though.
I just love Brandon for his connection to his community, its so sick and great, he uses feedback and is just the best author of fiction for me... just thank you Brandon that you exist and do what you do
There's something genuinely refreshing about low production quality Brandon updates. Don't suppose we could get a 'Day in the Life' style vlog at some point?
After finally going back and rereading everything in The Cosmere and knowing how much you have planned there is one I would love to see. It would be a trilogy called "Worldhoppers". The first book jumps about a bit to the past long before White Sands and about those we see in "Secret History" giving us a story of the first who learned to travel between worlds (Hoid, Nazh, and Khriss to start) and by the end of the trilogy catch up with where they are with that scene from Secret History from their POV in the second book while more we know are revealed and the third well, we don't know enough yet but your the writer lol
Thanks so much for these weekly updates! They help me stay invested in your writing even more when I can follow along and see/be told about the progress you're making! Can't wait for the future!
@@HYERthanyou XD What can I say... without Adam the whole system just falls apart, nothing works, random timestamping folks on the internet stop posting... Its a mess...
I want to thank you for posting these updates. I've been struggling lately with my dissertation, and these videos have been a huge source of encouragement. If my favorite author can stick to a weekly writing schedule, then so can I!
I'm still so relatively new to the Cosmere, juggling The Stormlight Archive and Misborn Era 1, but I can't thank Brandon enough for bringing forth such wonderful worlds, stories, and characters.
Video game, eh? My money is on it being for Wax and Wayne. Twinborn abilities are the most straight forward protagonist abilities in the Cosmere. Playing a Mistborn would just be nuts.
Yeah it would be really hard to manage even 8 metals all at once, but, I think you could figure it out, I'd love to have a vr mistborn game because I feel like that's the only way I could do all the things with coins that I want.
The nuttiness of Twinborn vs Misting vs Mistborn (with or without Feruchemy) largely depends on the style of game and what makes the difficult parts difficult. If it’s a FPS, it’ll almost have to revolve around iron & steel because, well, it’s a “S” game. If it’s a real-time RPG, then people are expecting more complex controls and there’s room to open up a bit more, and if it’s a turn-based RPG, the skies the limit WRT how many different kinds of abilities we could handle. Outside of a few spoilery special circumstances, the way allomancy works makes it difficult for a mistborn “boss” to be an inherently difficult fight for a mistborn PC. Oh, sure, someone can be a stronger allomancer than someone else, but that’s not really something that’s exploitable as a game mechanic - fights are generally won & lost due to the skill of the fighter, not necessarily the strength of their abilities. So if the hard parts are hard because the enemies are more powerful than us, then that makes it harder to allow for the PC to be a full allomancer. Restricting access to metals is all that really comes to mind, and I’m not sure how to plausibly gamify that. Things get more complicated with feruchemy. Now, if the hard parts are hard because more & more enemies are attacking the PC at the same time, you can give the PC every power in the book(s), as long as at least one of the enemies has the same powers.
@@OtherTheDave, I'm really excited to see how they make it work. I'm concerned about how they'd differentiate between steel vs iron vs Marvel superhero flight. I imagine that iron flight would look more like the Spiderman flight. Steel flight would look like pretty typical Super flight. I guess the tricky part is what you do about low metal areas and metal detection. Maybe give them a fog of war minimap with parts shaded with blue if there's metal available, with maybe a buffer region in a different color depending on if there's restricted flight. Perhaps blue for areas with plentiful steel push, yellow for iron pull, and green for both. Maybe overlay their sight with a color filter depending on the areas they can get with each kind of flight. Maybe include icons on the minimap for large pieces of metal that are off the map. Maybe highlight the pieces of metal in the area? There's a lot of little ways this could go. Maybe tin eye removes the fog of war effect on the minimap and you detect stuff like in the old Wolverine video games. Burning bronze would overlay people using abilities onto the minimap. Pretty straightforward sight through walls could also accompany this. Of course, now you've got a color coded minimap (fun for the colorblind), with icons and possible motion detection radar like Halo. On top of that you'd have a screen overlay so detailed with information that it would make the Arkham video games blush. Lastly, pewter would likely show up as a stamina bar that got used up based on feats of endurance, strength, or acrobatics. Not too bad. Of course, many of these powers have multiple abilities and uses that you could make whole video games about. This could get really interesting.
@@OtherTheDave An unnecessarily long response to: "the way allomancy works makes it difficult for a mistborn “boss” to be an inherently difficult fight for a mistborn PC": A mistborn boss can have functions that the player mistborn doesn't, despite not having other "abilities" in a lore sense. Soulsborne games are a great example for this: some of the hardest bosses are human-sized enemies who have basically the same abilities that you do in terms of lore, because in terms of video game logic, they can still do things the players can't. Like, maybe they know how to do a cartwheel and the player character can't do one, as a simple example. For a Mistborn, it could be a choreographed sequence of slashes, jumps, pushes/pulls. They might move faster or more erratically by pulling themselves toward different points in the room at a higher speed than a player can keep up with, or have longer i-frames when they guard/dodge, or justify short powerful combos by having significantly more of a certain metal to allow flaring, etc. Having the same tools in a lore sense does not at all mean being the same character in a video game sense. Think of some fighting games where both characters are "a normal in-shape human", yet one character can do kicks that another character can't, etc. (note that I don't think a high quality souls-tier Mistborn action game is likely to ever happen, but I'm just saying that *if it did happen*, making difficult and interesting mistborn bosses would not be a problem)
