    I love it. I’ve had lots of lever guns but never a 73. That would make an IDEAL home defense gun. Damn, I want one. So many guns, so little money. Your getting pretty good at slinging lead with that son, I sure wouldn’t want to brace you. Great video sir.

      I picked the 45-110 because I figured it would work in the 1886 110 length action, not realizing that the Quigley rifle was 45-110 so cases would be available. Thanks for the like.

    “Lever” you have given us a lot of food for thought here; both about the rifle and the cartridge. To address the 32-20 first thats entirely sufficient penetration and stopping power for home defense especially for an apartment situation. You can’t really show recoil but it must be more controllable than a .410. The next issue is the action of the gun itself: you have to ask yourself if the 92 action strong as it is, is it really THAT much BETTER…can you make it perform like the 73??? Thanks for a very informative demonstration!!

    • @Leverguns50
      @Leverguns50  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The standard short stroke doesn’t really require fitting or anything, The super short stroke it does require some filing on the lifter bar, but they gave really good detailed instructions, basically, the toggle links are just a little bit different so they caused the action to move faster for less stroke, they have a maid for the Italian copies and also for the Winchester brand copies

  • @lifted_above
    @lifted_above ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Jeremy, can the .32-20 made to be roughly equivalent to .32 H&R magnum if hand-loaded properly?
    Would be real cool if Uberti or Miroku-Winchester made a '73 in .327 Fed mag, as it's near identical pressures to the .357mag and the '73 runs those. But obviously the .32 cal stuff isn't anywhere near as popular or available as .38 Special or .357mag.

    • @Leverguns50
      @Leverguns50  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not sure how fast the 32H&R magnum is out of a rifle, but this will shoot 100 grain bullet at about 1700 FPS with no problem

    • @lifted_above
      @lifted_above ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Leverguns50 According to Cartridges of the World, the .32-20 is rated 85gr @ 1100 fps and 115gr @ 900 fps. Now that you put it that way, I'm sure those loads are very mild, meant to deal with old metal.
      Hodgdon reloading data on 32 H&R magnum 100gr bullet from 5-inch barrel runs a max of about 1200 fps with Lil'gun (19,900 cup).

  • @StateLine_Shootist
    @StateLine_Shootist ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Hey Leverguns, I’ve got some 92’ 32-20’s that I hot rod, but I’d love to have a 73’. How much pressure can the 73’ handle vs a 92’?

    • @Leverguns50
      @Leverguns50  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      the 92 is a much stronger action, in order for the 73 to handle any kind of pressure, the action needs to be tight and long enough to compress the cartridge into the chamber hard, so that there’s no movement before the cartridge expands against the chamber walls, an oily chamber could really damage is 73, then on the other hand the 92 is a very strong action is capable of up to 65,000 psi, cartridges depending on the year it was made ones made before 1930 should not be driven to hard as metal is softer, I believe the new ones are capable of handling the 454 and it’s 65,000 psi

      Look up Paco Kelly's .32-20 article. He goes all through strength levels on numerous rifles and revolvers. The original '73s are fairly weak, and the older '92s with the softer steel can set back the lugs with loads the newer ones can shoot all day. One of the importers making a repro '73 has made them much stronger, due to not only the metallurgy but a redesign of the lockwork.

    It was also just roast over the fire and the skin just peels off. Beaver meat is very tasty and the tail of course is oily. But not a lot of flavor. Now I personally think the appeal is strictly a natural need for fats to counter act the lean diet. Love elk , moose deer, and buffalo and such but this craving after a bit more for fatty stuff will kinda take over. Certain dietary stuff available will fill that in things other than just 🦫 tail example horse milk from a mare who's foal is being weined off mom can make a great source, and delicious.
    Bone marrow from a bone roasted in the fire . And of course when close home I would add lots of pork and bacon to my diet
