Since the collapse of the Soviet Union the US has gone on a rampage of death and destruction around the world, starting with the former Yugoslavia.

Look I’m a socialist, and I love Russian culture (aside from the intense homophobia but we can’t have everything lol) but the Soviet Union was not a good place. It was an indispensable ally in WWII doing most of the legwork in dismantling fascist countries. While then also implementing similarly fascist policies. Gulags. Their political system should be the antithesis of any good socialist’s/communist’s ideals.
And that’s not to say that ANY previous or current Russian political systems are good. Putin is fucking terrible.

I imagine he would spend days and nights reading to know everything that happened after his own death. Then he would develop a critical theory about the mistakes and successes of the Soviet Union's leaders, and about the current balance of forces in Russia and the world, and reorganize himself into a revolutionary front. But one thing is certain: Lenin would not stand still or be discouraged. He would certainly be very impressed seeing how far the Soviets could go!

@@itsmepuppet8681 Exept that their ideologies are completely different: one proposes equality of everyone (communism), and the other one proposes superiority of one group (nazism). Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact was signed in order to stall some time and finish industrialization, along with taking back the land that Poland occupied during Russian civil war. Not to mention that Soviet Union pumped a lot of money to restore Ukraine since it was the second most important republic right after RSFSR. Soviets also started ukrainization process to increase the popularity of ukranian language, since it was supressed in the Russian Empire. The only real "massacre" that ukranian endured was famine of 1932-33, but it was widespread across the whole Soviet Union and was not caused on purpose.

The election in Russia had to be rigged to prevent the Communist party from winning so Russia might become communist. As for the 16 republics, I'm not sure a reunion is possible

well it is not an occupation, it is a betray. The working class is the only one that can reconstruct the soviet union or can at least make a true Socialist country in 2022. The modern russia is destroyed, the soviet union past is just used as a russian nationalism propaganda. Maybe the USSR will never come back, but the socialism will rise up in the world again, at the end that is the real objetive.

@brien Honestly that's pretty much all there is to it. The soviets tried to enter an alliance with France and UK from April to August 1939 but negotiations went poorly because the western powers didn't trust Stalin and were put off by his demand to try and counter indirect german intereference in Romania, Poland, the Baltic states and Finland as well instead of just trying to counter direct threats.
When no alliance came to be, the Soviets instead tried to play for time by signing a Non Aggression Pact with the Germans, but both sides probably didn't expect it to last for very long. It did however buy the Soviets enough time to build up their ndustry some more, while also relocating several crucial industries behind the Ural mountains in order to have it safely in soviet Heartland, and protect it from german bombing raids.
Cooperating with the germans against Poland is often seen as proof that they liked each other, but in reality it was an attempt by both sides to gain as much territory as possible, as quickly as possible in order to deny it the other one. It's also worth noting that the Russians saw the occupation of eastern Poland as liberation because until the End of WW1 it was part of Russia. So many still saw it as Core Territory that had to be won back if possible. Not that that really justifies it, but it certainly wasn't like they just rolled up in a random country and conquered it just because they felt like it.
