I have an i20n! Had it a year and it's my favourite car I've ever owned, I use gyeon wax on mines and the gloss is insane! I get so many compliments about my car!
I have an i20N Performance for ca. a year too (use it as daily car:) and i was thinking that will be boring for a year, but it gives more and more fun, brilliant car ! I made myself a ceramic coating (Ultracoat carbon) and its ok. The blue color has original Hyundai name:"Performance Blue" and is very nice, but its not a matallic or pear paint. But its is exclussive color for Hyundai N submark, in that "baby blue" there are only Huyndai N cars.
Hi John loved seeing the car being done and your attention to detail. Worth the money and thaks again to you and all the lads. Fusso is the future and was funny to see the sign behind the car saying wax is dead....Not here and now. Dave
Nice vid Jon. As I have mentioned before, I worked at a Hyundai main dealership. The paint on Hyundai's these days is pretty good, but many of the cars sit for months at Tilbury, which is directly under a flight path. This results in them being covered in jettisoned fuel, and lots of bird shyte. Some are used as taxi's to ferry the drivers up/down the docks fetching cars all day, so they get filthy inside and out. When they arrived at the dealership I worked, yes they still had their protective film on inside and out, but contamination can and does seep under the edges depending on how long they have been parked up. We saw lots of minor orange peel and swirling on most brand new cars, but to be honest, nothing which was any worse than other brands, even premium ones.
Awesome to see the i20n getting the treatment. I've had one since sep. 2021 (in Denmark). I'm still looking forward to every drive actually and very pleased with the car. Yes you can buy more prestigious and faster cars but the i20n has a sort of an old-school hot hatch driving feel that is very likeable. It's made for people that enjoy twisty roads and don't think that everything has to be super serious all the time. Not many new cars are designed with the same priorities today and even fewer at affordable prices. I picked the blue colour because nearly all cars seen on the roads seem to are either white, grey or black (in DK at least). The car it is a 'bit lairy or flamboyant' to me. I find the blue colour fitting to this nature.
Good video as always John! I find, with wax, the best method is to load up your applicator. Do 3 evenly spaced horizontal lines and THEN do your vertical lines. That way you pick up even amounts of wax on the up and down strokes and get a perfectly even layer all over. Or just slap it on with a DA! 😂
Firstly, great channel and thank you for all of your advice, reviews and these live details. what an awesome car and colour! Having only recently purchased a DA and Meguires UC and UP to help restore some paint after 6 year old stripes removal (plus finally appreciating the P21S wax I have) I have quickly learnt that the DA is so much more than a correction machine. With the right pad and product (eg Poor Boys Black Hole) looking after my black car it’s going to become a real pleasure. 👍
Julian, from Soft 99 Europe: "A frequently asked question we get is, why the separation for dark and light waxes. Well, before I answer, let’s set the record straight - none of these Soft 99 waxes is a colouring wax, the big difference between these waxes is that waxes for dark paints contain more fillers which are responsible for masking up imperfections such as swirls or holograms which can ruin the mirror-like effect so many people are after. On the other hand, waxes for light paints contain more cleaners, sometimes even abrasive ones, which are responsible for getting rid of oxidation and bringing out as much of the original shine as possible.”
Hi Jon, right at the end of the video when you were doing your final buff, was that a detail spray you were using and if so which one were you using? Great video as always!
Many car manufacturers have a "soft" colour where 90% of their paint options are fine but there is just one or two not just up to the job, Renault greens are all soft, Hondas Nighthawk Black is very soft.
Nice car Jon. Fantastic colour. It's recently been announced on PetrolBlog News that Hyundai are replacing their N line with a Befast performance sub-brand. One worth looking out for.
Hi John, love the channel. Just watched the long awaited citrus review. How does the primer polish you are using in this video compare to the Gyeon Primer?
I don't know really. In terms of like cut or finish that would require some more like side by side tests. Gyeon primer is only a primer though its not a standalone sealant. I think there's a gap for this product. You also have rupes advanced with is like nano aio but can't be used as ceramic primer. So this product might be able to do both. But it's in testing at the moment.
This was a lovely watch. That finishing product sounds interesting, is it one step up from an AIO? I'd love to spend a day at Freshlayers, just to watch and learn, you're a lucky man Jon. All the best.
Just waxed mine last week with gyeon wax only issue I had with the paint work was the back wheel arch panels were rubbing together and so a bit of a bare spot now which needs to get sorted
The paintwork on our tucson n line was awesome... until it went back to hyundai for a gearbox issue, they cleaned it, now there's more swirls/light scratches in the paintwork than a kaleidoscope! Now in a battle trying to get them to polish it out!
As a pro car detailer for many years, I must say that I have not used wax for at least 10 years. That said, I do miss the results of wax. You sir have done an outstanding job here, the results must be most satisfying.
I have a black I20 6months old, wash it with care but still I have hairline scratces especially in the plastic front bonnet panel, any suggestions what you would use to remove please.
What's the recommended quick detailers/drying aids for the newer fusso? I've been using Built Hamber QD but it's not as hydrophobic as fusso, still nice to use and slick but I'm looking for some more hydrophobic to match the fusso
Hey Jon gives this some thought down the road. Maybe wrapping your Porsche in that Hyundai I20 color. That would look awesome too. Anyway just a thought 👍
They are nice cars, paint on them isn’t very forgiving, I’ve worked on a couple, was unable to get out some scratches I usually would from other manufacturers.
Fusso is amazing but doesn’t have good chemical reactions I done all the hard work and perp to my car and applied fusso coat let it cure for 24 hours was so shinny and nice after 2 week drive for dirty and lots of road tar so I wash the car and used tardis to wipe and clean all tars so what happen when was tardis of the car all the fusso coating was gone I was so disappointed after all the hard work fusso need to work on it for chemical reaction on it when they call it fusso coat surly should be better than wax
It was repaired was it? Yet the paint was peeling back to the OEM plastic and bumper had not been removed or replaced. That was terrible, I think it was batch issue though.
Where has the Forensic Detailing Channel gone ? It’s more and more the Wax is Dead channel IMO….they must love having their business massively promoted. I get they’re local and do fantastic work (know a few ppl who’ve been and no doubt they’re brilliant) but what ppl loved about FDC seems to be eroding away…..
I love going there and the most popular videos I've done have been with them. It's all about fun and content and cars and living a life doing what I love.
Have had two i30n's current one in performance blue and it's the most abysmal paint I've ever seen on a car. I've done 5k and the front and side of the car is peppered in atrocious stone chips

Yes it's essential tool m8
The irony of applying a wax at a “Wax is Dead” garage 😂
i'll call my new business 'Graphene is DEAD'
Great range of cars. I can't believe how far Hyundai have come since the Cortina-based Stellar in the late '80s.

great little car for the money isnt it.

They love a good wax secretly 😁
What a lovely car! Always loved that color ...

DONT let them anywhere near it! Fight them to get them to agree to pay the invoice for a proper Detailer to do it!
Ah, traditional waxing, soothes my soul.
on fully prepped car black fuso prob better as has more ptfe and just less detergents and cleaner, only difference I believe

I use Fusso Soft99 wax on my Sporty BlueFK8. Great wax and very durable.

Could be fun 😁
Light fusso as cleaners in it as the dark slightly fills

Looks magnificent, and I love the car cos I've got one😊😊😊. Beautiful to see the process ❤
Can you review Koch chemie protector wax please Jon
See best spray sealant vid m8
I thought the white had more cleaners built in to make light colored cars pop more, and the black was just for pure shine.
In description is s99 low done on this
at about 16.6 - 2.. hi under there" - matching car?
Does John work for freshlayers as a valeter
No m8 just shoot stuff with the guys
Hyundai has the best paint robots maybe
Lol

Tardis is an extremely potent T&G remover. Many coatings would take a hit using something like Tardis on it so user error by you in my opinion.
I can still remember a video from you John, saying how trash Hyundai is when you had a a car that was clearly badly repaired.
Isn't that funny!?
It was repaired was it? Yet the paint was peeling back to the OEM plastic and bumper had not been removed or replaced. That was terrible, I think it was batch issue though.
