Hearing Ariel and Rachel speak about wanting privacy with their kids makes sense. If I were to see Ned, Ariel and their kids on the street, I would NEVER ask for a photo with Wes or Finn with Ned and Ariel. I don't know the Fulmers, I only know of what they choose to reveal online. There's a fucking difference.
I'd love to hear them admit what they thought/did/said at the time about it. Bet it was pretty f*cking different story. Bet they paid good money for those magazines that funded the paparazzi.
The "diagnosis" on the papers was dementia. How did she release so many albums, go on multiple tours, do the Vegas residency, and never forget her moves or the lyrics? It's a corrupt system. Also your family doesn't have to be the one to put you in a conservatorship. It's an abusive system.
@@andrear.1174 not damaged, but gray matter forms on the brain, as you age. It’s typically old individuals, but you can have early onset. Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, etc. are all forms of dementia. It creates loss of memory/confusion/death. If this is comment is true, it’s highly highly highly unlikely that she has dementia!
Right! And it’s such a vicious cycle cuz one you have been put in a conservator ship and can’t make any decisions ON YOUR OWN then how can you get the legitimacy to prove that you are capable to be released?!? It’s the most frustrating thing ever.
When Emma Watson was photographed getting out of a car, she was wearing underwear, but I remember seeing her on a late night show, I don't remember which one, and they brought up the photo, and she got so flustered, and the audience laughed, and she finally says "well, at least I was wearing underwear!" and the audience clapped and the host clapped. It's sad because they basically made her shame these other celebrities who were photographed flashing, Emma was probably trying to be very diplomatic about this very embarrassing photo, and whyyyy did they bring it up on that show??? It just goes to show how much the media has brainwashed us into making fun of these celebrity "hot messes" like it's not a big deal, like they're not human beings, like they are just property...
Britney Spears (pre-pandemic) taught drop-in dance classes at a dance studio near my house. I would often pick my sister (elementary school age at the time) up from these classes and ask her how the class was. I was so annoyed because she would say every time that Britney was at least 10 minutes late and spent the last 15 minutes of this one hour class signing autographs for the kids. Now, it's so obvious that it was her handlers' fault that she was never there on time, because this wasn't a major source of income for them so why the fuck would they care about these kids who were so excited to take class from Britney Spears. My sister did always say the choreography was sick and Britney was super nice.
It sounds like teaching dance is something Britney actually enjoys, it’s awful that she couldn’t do it just because those people think it’s not a good source of income
100% broke down crying listening to this podcast in my car. It's so unfair how the media and the public just...tried to destroy Britney Spears' humanity. Thank you so much for talking about it, TryWives.
Omg same. Just half way through started bawling. I think I was a bit too young to fully grasp what was going on. But I'm happy that in her lifetime people are slowly starting to realize how awful she was treated. I hope she gets her freedom soon.
Britney asked the stylist to shave her head, and they refused so she did it herself. When asked about it, she said it was because she "wanted people to stop touching her." A conservator doesn't have to be a family member, it just has to be someone to be an advocate. Britney (in the last few court appearances) has been pushing to have her dad removed. She's okay with having a conservatorship overall, just not with him in charge. She's also refused to perform until he's removed. It's also not normal to have a conservatorship over someone like her - who has done world tours, made albums, etc - last this long with as much control as her dad has taken. There is now a co-conservator with her dad for her finances, and her lawyer is trying to push for eventually having her dad removed entirely form her finances. Her dad also appointed her lawyer, and from the public court documents it almost seems like said lawyer isn't always working in her best interests, like they should be. Her mom is also now fighting to be her conservator, which I really hope happens. Britney also had both of her kids basically back to back, which is rough mentally and physically on anyone, and some have suspected that she might actually have been suffering from post-partum depression.
She could have also been dealing with postpartum anxiety, postpartum rage and postpartum manic episodes if she is at risk of those. Any and all of those can happen after birth. I dealt with PPD and PPA with rage. Very very difficult and at times embarrassing. I don't blame her for what she did.
About the flight/baby thing: I think it's a situation where you see how you feel in the moment. I remember one flight that I was on with my 3 year old and encountered another mom on a flight with an infant (maybe 8 mos). The baby was INCONSOLABLE and she couldn't get the baby to calm down long enough to eat her dinner. This was about 5 hours into a 9.5 hour flight and I could visibly see the mom was in tears trying to keep the baby calm and not upset everyone around her. I walked over there with my 3 year old in tow and asked if she'd like for us to keep her baby company while she gets a chance to eat and go to the bathroom. She was SO thankful and couldn't have been nicer about it. I think she probably felt comfortable accepting help because I also had a small child and I couldn't just walk off with her kid, but also because she saw I was genuinely trying to help and not trying to criticize her parenting. We've all been there, kids are ROUGH on planes regardless of age.
I know this comment is a few months old but OMG I adore you for that. Traveling with tiny humans is SUCH a game of roulette...they might be perfect or they might have a mega meltdown and it is so mortifying and stressful to be the parent of "that kid" on a flight. Thank you for having empathy and showing kindness to another Mamma who clearly needed it
I loved this podcast episode! But I've noticed that the sponsored ads have been more frequent (which is fine, make your dough 2nd Try! Totally support that), but it's been interrupting more and more abruptly - would there be a more seamless way to integrate ads? I might suggest at the end of a topic...or when there's a slight pause...right now, it feels almost like it's interrupting the speaker mid-thought. Not sure if you'll ever read this, but hoping it might be some positive constructive feedback!
Tell me about it. At least they are brief. The SuperCarlinBrothers have been interrupting their videos with like two several minute, annoying, and lengthy for no reason ads per video. I'd maybe feel better if they explained they were short on cash or something but I've seen no additional ad placement from small to medium creators.
Also, if anyone, including the Try Wives, are interested in an in depth look at the conservatorship from a legal standpoint, Emily D. Baker does a deep dive into Britney's conservatorship. I highly recommend it since Britney is very aware of what's going on, and the legal documents that have been put forward suggest that she isn't opposed to the conservatorship, but she is opposed to her father being her conservator.
Consent is apparently a new thing for people, let alone old people, like grandmas. I don't like people who won't ask for consent. And I don't like people who let strangers take pictures of their kids. Never mind "your" consent, what about your child's consent when he doesn't have the language to say "yes" or "no"? Kids are safer when they are taught boundaries with strangers and it starts with seeing their parents respecting theirs. I've seen a lot of adoptive parents sharing their transracial adoption stories with stuff like, "We were gifted with our beautiful Black boy when he was rescued from his crack-addicted birth mother and like a miracle, he survived even though he was addicted." This boy will now have on social media his backstory and it will affect him in his adult life when it wasn't the parents' right to divulge his medical information. It honestly doesn't shock me anymore. Self-absorbed people only care about their intent and not their impact.
*self-absorbed people only care about their intent and not their impact.* -notluvulongtime8472 Feb 23, 2021 i totally agree and love how you phrased that. concise but powerful statement. just to add to that, we have also witnessed the opposite situation. although not as many examples, there are celebrity parents out there who recognize that they chose their career to be in the public but their children did not. they also choose not to overshare about their kids in order to protect their privacy, so that they have their own stories, to prevent their backstory from being out there on the internet before the kid comes of age and can choose what to be public or not. jokingly, (i forget who it was) i remember there was a parent who said another thing was they did not want their kid to be at a disadvantage in their dating life. imagine being the offspring of famous people and strangers can google up your childhood and pull up embarassing stories/photos on social media. the stranger would be at an advantage for having access to bonus details right at the start or they would already have a first impression before even meeting you. the parent was saying it in a light joking mood but they were very serious about keeping personal stories as personal and allowing their kid to have that secrecy that a normal person takes for granted.
One example I would like to add of children can't consent is Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen. These two were acting since they were literally one year old, they didn't consent to and it's clear that it fucked them up. When they could consent they left acting behind
@@GenieGin13 literally Beyoncé/jay z. They shared photos of Blue Ivy when she was little and people on social media went crazy calling her ugly for having her natural hair and her dads nose. Heartbreaking stuff, like who could say that about a CHILD. Now they rarely share anything about the twins because they learnt how cruel grown adults can be simply because people believe they are entitled to the lives of famous people.
The way that media continues to “mature” these young girls in the public eye to sexualize them and demonize them is so insidious. It’s spreading to some of the guys, too. I think about what the entire Stranger Things cast went through when they first blew up...especially with MBB and Finn Wolfhard. Had 30+ year olds unabashedly thirsting for CHILDREN. Disgusting.
I'm happy that people are finally talking about the misogyny that Britney as well as most female artists faced (and still face today)! It should've been talked about then, it was never okay, but at least some of those sexist people are being called out.
You guys should look into/talk about Amanda bynes, she's also in a conservatorship, and how child stars end up in these roles. And how owning women is sadly still a thing, just in this form.
I remember exactly when I first saw the reporting that Britney shaved her head, and remember my friends at the time just laughed about it, while I felt such despair. It has stuck with me forever. Empathy is important and these conversations are the best because they weren't around back then (as far as I knew).
what rubs me the wrong way is that we ALL knew about britney's maltreatment, its great that it's finally being acknowledged, but a nice apology is nothing. what are we gonna do to get her out of court order? there's petitions on the internet but they only go so far.
What would really need to happen (and I hope it does) is conservatorship laws would be reevaluated because the way she was essentially tricked into signing her life away and can't really get it back just because her agreement wasn't set up that way
as someone who was actually brought up by an emotionally-abusive mother, the fact that britney was declared "unfit" as a parent for acting on instinct in a situation that was harmful for her and her baby is infuriating...
Can you guys maybe cover the experience of you founding your own “freedom” during your transitional period between adulthood and young adults? Just finished college rn and everything is overwhelming ☹️☹️
In a nutshell, my advice would be to forget everything you've been told about what success means, and focus on class and community solidarity. Good luck
Someone stalked Sia outside of her house and took a photo of her naked on her balcony (a butt photo from behind). Then they tried to blackmail her saying if she didn't pay them, they would sell the picture. So she posted it on Twitter. While I think this was HIGHLY messed up; a woman who doesn't even like to show her face anymore getting blackmailed with a nude photo of her alone on her own balcony. I think it was badass of her to just take the power away. But she shouldn't have to, it's gross. I don't know if these are California laws that allow this sort of stuff or national laws, but it needs to change.
SIA also made a movie that basically makes fun of autistic people, of which she spoke to ZERO prior to making the movie, fired the autistic actress for being "too difficult" because she didn't want to make the set safe for autistic people, replaced her with Maddie, refused to let Maddie break her contract after she realized it was bullying, and then added a scene which uses a method of restraint that has literally killed autistic people and portrayed it as a way to calm autistic people down from a meltdown. So as unfortunate as that is for her, I can't see anything about her now without getting the most intense feelings of rage.
@@DezerayHope I fully understand the anger over the movie, its righteous. But for ourselves and to be good role models for others its important to remember two wrongs dont make a right. Aka: we can and should bring up why somebody is deeply problematic; but we shouldn't act like abuse is an appropriate or righteous response. Nobody should be taking naked photos of people to blackmail them, regardless on of that person is good or not. But one can hope that if that experience does happen, they will take the time to learn from it and do better in the future.
I had a hard time feeling bad for her reading this because of her blatant ableism towards people like me. But then I remembered that what was done to her is still wrong even if she is a terrible person. If it was done to someone I liked and agreed with it would be outrageous to me. Therefore, it should be outrageous to me regardless of her character. No one should have to go through that!
Even as someone in their teens, I remember thinking how unfair Britney was being treated during her "breakdown". It is because of Britney that in my teens I stopped reading magazines and never really read stuff online, unless it is an interview, because of the false narrative. Even interviews, I take it with a grain of salt because the words of the celebrity can be twisted to fit a narrative that will get more clicks or sell more.
My mom had a year long conservatorship of my Uncle 30 years ago. She still talks about how hard it was to go to court and how much she hated doing it in the first place. He was stuck in the VA system and wasn't able to get out or get the help he needed. She used the conservatorship to pull him out and get him better help.
I’ll be honest, I really struggle with the “they’re from a different time” argument. I feel like that doesn’t hold people accountable for not taking the time to learn the changes in society and understanding how someone would feel differently in a situation than them. I would have snapped at these older people and said that they never asked permission and just invaded personal space. They need to learn.
I 100% agree I don't have kids of my own but if some random lady gets even a foot close to my future child niece or nephew I will absolutely tell her to leave and not in a polite way I don't care if I seem like a crazy lady, you never know anyone's intentions and it's terrifying to think something bad can happen to them
It also lowkey feels like a subtle way to shame someone for reacting to something negative. “They’re from a different time. They don’t know any better. Calm down!”
The talk about not leaving babies with strangers made me realize that the view on babies and child care if very different around the world! Here in denmark it is very normal to have babies sleep in their baby carriages outside (it is believed the fresh air is good for longer naps?) but that also means it is normal to leave your baby sleeping in the carriage outside of a Café while drinking a cup of coffee, people respect this and will often be more quiet when they walk by a carriage, so as not to wake the sleeping baby! And parents will just have a baby alarm on them, to go outside to the baby if it wakes up! This I realized would seem a total shock to Americans, but I hadn't realized before because it is such a norm here In denmark
am i the only one who plays every episode of this channel at the background while answering schoolworks so that i can recreate a classroom environment, it makes me focus more HAHAHA
@@emmyemu33 I don't know. I'm not a fan of Paris personally. When I look at her story objectively, she started very wealthy (Hilton hotel heiress), got sent away to boarding school by her parents who didn't approve of her behavior, witnessed some very questionable practices, left, and went on to become famous for even more crazy antics. I don't know, I just felt like this was the beginning of an era where being "hot and oblivious" was glamorized. She may be different now, who knows, I don't know her personally, but when she was at the height of her fame, she went on SNL and there were quite a few people who said she was rude during her time there. According to so many former cast members SNL is where actors and celebrities are on their best behaviors because they want to do good on the show, so the fact that she was being very haughty and rude.....I don't know xD I feel like there are so many other artists that have worked their way up from less...
@@jennyng2994 if you watch the documentary you see the rude bimbo thing was an act she’s been putting on since getting out of school. Also you see how much her parents especially her father really praised her for being beautiful and encouraged her to focus on that and become a “star.” She also uses money as a way to replace the love she never got. It really opened my eyes
Also Mischa Barton has spoken about this! Honestly the way the media especially comedians and late night hosts, and the paparazzi (so basically a lot of men) treated all of these TEEN stars back in the early 2000’s was so sexist and fucked up. It surely wouldn’t fly today
@@riribeasley4741 you can clearly see how emotionaly abusive Paris her mother and sister are to her, and that is right now when Paris is a grown woman, cant imagine what she must have gone through as a child. And you can see how this abuse affect everything in her life and relationships
I legit had one time (pre-covid) waiting in a park public restroom, and this mom just hands her baby to me to hold so she could go to the bathroom. It was also such a dirty bathroom, so she didn't want her baby on the floor (and she asked me). I remember being shocked, but also being glad that she felt something in me that was trustworthy. I also was dressed basically looking like a Disney princess, tbh. But I also so felt for this mom who just needed to pee and the cleanest option was to have this random woman in the bathroom holding her baby for her. But then it also makes me miss the random and sweet support that comes out of the women's restroom.
@@sammyfranco6231 didn’t she used to be a nanny? he’s most likely the child she used to nanny and was obviously very close to if she still has a relationship with him
Their comment about how we no longer live in a time(pre-pandemic) where you can just pick up someone else's random baby reminded me of this one time I was working a prominent speaker event in college (like 2-3years ago) and this random woman legit handed me her maybe eight month old out of the blue and walked away for ten plus minutes and it was just mind boggling. I mean I love babies and didn't mind holding him for her but she didn't even ask or tell me where she was going/how long and she didn't even know me I could've been a real creep and walked away with her baby or just set him down on the floor. Some people are wild with their babies.
Reminds me when I was a young teen at a friend’s house and I was alone in their living room and her dad just walked in handed me his grandson and left. I hate being around kids and kinda just froze until my friend came back (15+ mins later). I told the guy I wasn’t comfortable holding it, but some people seem to think female=automatic babysitter. It’s very frustrating
This is such a painful conversation to have and to listen to, but I'm glad you talked about it! It's so important to be aware of all the fucked up shit that we consume day to day
My mom was put under a temporary conservatorship during a mental health crisis. She got to CHOOSE her conservator. She was on an involuntary hold in a mental health facility (a 5150), yet she STILL got to choose my grandma as her conservator.
would love to hear your thoughts on the mistreatment demi lovato has faced throughout her entire career, from being body-shamed to having people joke about her drug addiction. also i loved the episode!
The "umbrella situation" was right after Kevin refused to let her see her 2 children. She had gone twice and the guy asked her what was happening with her and to talk to him so he could get the inside scoop from her which was absolutely disgusting. He KNEW because he followed her from his home and overheard everything.
I love this talk about leaving kids with strangers. I have no idea what it is about me personally, but there have been several times in my life where moms just left their kids with me (always under crazy extenuating circumstances) as recently as last month. And then I sit there with a stranger's children trying to make small talk with 4 yr olds hoping their parents are rushing.
The talk about older women and babies and belly is so on it. I was picking up take out during the pandemic and an older woman came over to touch me. I said 6 ft away and please don’t touch me and she acted like I was being so rude. We’ve also had some crazy moments when on flights and complete strangers wanting to hold the baby. I know they were trying to be helpful but generally it’s just making me more stressed.
at the beginning of the pandemic, #freebritney supporters organized after a video of britney dancing in a very robotic, pained way went viral. they swarmed her comments, asking her to wear yellow in her next post if she needed help. her next post showed her in a yellow dress. free britney until it's backwards.
You girls should also talk about Taylor Swift. She had a similar arc where the media and paparazzi hounded her to get a byte regarding whom she's dating and what she does in her private life. They then spun it to mock her for being someone who always writes about her failed relationships - while it's not that uncommon in real life. It's sad to see how differently women are portrayed in media almost as if by being a celebrity the person loses agency over their own life 😔😔😔😔😔
Such a great episode. My heart breaks for Britney. As a new mom, I could not imagine having those vulnerable months in the public eye and just trying everything to protect your kids.
on the part about the car photos: this is why kpop stars have one member of the group doesn’t wear a dress and holds a towel or blanket in front of the open door as the other member get out so those photos don’t happen.
Didn't grow up with Britney (I'm way older) but I always thought her songs were bops and I loved her energy and dancing. Her oldest kid is my son's age so when she was getting flack from the media for being a bad mom and being "fat," I took it personally. She was treated so badly. It was so painful for me trying to lose my baby weight hearing her actual weight which was my GOAL WEIGHT being discussed as being so fat etc. It was painful. The netflix doc is good, but really the Deep Dive series on youtube is way better as far as actually explaining what happened with the conservatorship and explains what was happening in 2007/2008. The short answer is that she was diagnosed with dementia by doctor at a clinic (1 star facility by the way). My personal feeling is that she was set up and the breakdown was manufactured. Also it's important to remember Britney's manager pushed her to dress sexy, which wasn't discussed in the doc. #freebritney.
Oops I did it again was my all time favorite song as a child. I would listen to that song on repeat. Still love her and hope she gets better and not be stress anymore.
I think it's funny when you talk about leaving your kids outside, and you never doing that. I live in Denmark and we do this ALL THE TIME. In busy cities ass well as outside the front door, it's super normal. Love these pods keep up the good work!❤️
In america kidnappings and human trafficking is much more common over here, so it's a legit fear for parents, so that's why it is really dangerous to leave your child (especially a baby) alone. My home state of Wisconsin is a hot spot for human trafficking, it's even kind of dangerous for teen girls to go to the mall because people will come up to you asking if you want your nails done, or want to party etc. My cousin was a mall cop and warned me because malls are an easy place for traffickers to find people.
@@radioactive_sunflowerz2450 Yes, that is defiantly true, it's just so hard to fathom the fear and realness of that when it's not a part of my life. I'm so sorry to hear that you cannot feel safe where you live:(

This is great. I love the reflection and accountability ya'll show talking about your past views and actions. It would be lovely to see more discussion on other controversial topics. I feel like this really shows what a real one Eugene is when he provides silly escapism content WHILE unapologetically standing up for what he believes in.
this is my favorite podcast of all time. i love all of you and the voices and perspectives you bring to the podcast. i’ve always loved the boys but you (usually four) always have such absolutely amazing conversations. thank you for this❣️
Thank you so much for bringing attention to this. It's absolutely how disgusting she was/is being treated, and it is only because she is a woman. A man in the same situation would never be treated this way. Misogyny sets me into a complete rage, and her father has put her in a prison. The images of her trying to protect and see her children are the most unsettling. It shows that she is an amazing mother who would do anything for her children, despite the fact that she is being hunted by paparazzi. In addition, SHAME on the paparazzi for doing this to her, and claiming she enjoyed the spotlight.
I live in a country (Italy) where it's actually illegal to publish a child's (or underage person) photo without the parent's consent, even a celebrity. If paparazzi snap a picture of a celebrity and their children happen to be in the picture, their faces have to be blurred. The Privacy watchdog is very strict about it.
You guys are honestly so amazing - your podcasts really really help me manage my mental health because they are just so great, and I love how you don't shy away from important topics. Thank you :)
When I first started modeling I thought it was kind of odd that I don’t own the pictures photographers take of me unless they give me permission to do so. I always have to credit them when I post them. But it makes sense because I CONSENTED to give them ownership of a picture of me because they did all the work for the picture. I just stood there. Celebrities don’t consent to getting pictures taken of them by paps. They should own them!
really appreciate the discussion - pls look into Jennie Kim of blackpink who was recently "revealed" to have been dating GDragon for a year, by Dispatch four grown men who stalked her for three years, so it's still happening a lot and what's worse is that Jennie is getting a lot of hate for it online, adding a layer of online bullying
Honestly love to listen to you guys while eating or doing work - I love your takes and just all of your segments - you have become the reason I come into the TryPod channel daily.
Britney Spears is my twin flame, my spiritual friend throughout my adolescence and womanhood. I connected to her songs where i have them down to a science. She is the one who lived my dream.
I’m still processing all my feelings about this episode, especially the way the conversation about mental health has developed in the last decade even. That being said, I want to comment on how particularly gorgeous Ariel’s hair looked in the video- long live the side part! You don’t need no middle part girl. *insert dramatic z snaps*
I also had the intense interest from strangers to my twins. I had a woman literally hold onto my shopping cart to stop me from moving away. Crazy times.
I’m so excited! I’m so behind the times. I’m glad they’re talking about this today. I need someone to explain the Britney story to me and I haven’t had the desire to watch an entire documentary.
@@artisticalchemypod I just meant I’m glad that they’re talking about it so I know. I prob should look it up and read about it I just haven’t made it a priority.
I found a new podcast you ladies may enjoy called "Celebrity Book Club" with CheIsea Devantez where she reads mostly female celebrity memoires and BOY does it give you a different perspective and more empathy for these women and the terrible double standards of fame. The one on Jessica Simpson was a particular standout so far (I'm only a few episodes in) and I just feel terrible for her. I feel like reflecting on our relationship with pop media of the past and present is so important in forming a healthier and kinder perspective of how we treat and judge people (predominantly young women-identifying people). The media has often shown zero sense of humanity when female stars are involved and it also affects the way we think of ourselves and the way men perceive us. I'm so glad we're starting to have these conversations now.
I always try to wait to the end of the week to watch these videos so I don’t have to wait a WHOLE WEEK for the next episode, but I just can’t help myself on Tuesdays. I can’t.
So I absolutely *love* kids, I was a daycare teacher for 5 years, I have 5 (soon to be 6!) nieces/nephews, and I would NEVER even think to try and rub someone’s pregnant belly if I didn’t know them!! I always ask permission before rubbing my friends and sister-in-laws bellies! And as for the “watching the baby on the plane” scenario, I totally get Rachel not wanting to leave the girls to be watched by a stranger if she’s on a plane without Wats, but it doesn’t make you a bad mom if you do have to go to the bathroom during a 6 hour flight. I think Ariel said something about how pre-covid, she might’ve asked someone to watch Wes (idk if she actually did, or just said she would be willing to). And I feel like I’m totally the type of person who would offer (not just to Ariel but any parent who looks like they have their hands full) but would never be offended if they said no! Idk where I’m going with this comment but just my 2 cents. Love the pod!!!
Having worked as a photographer, this is the general standard: In public property, photographers can take photos and videos anything in plain sight. In private property, owners may implement restrictions for photography and videography on their premises. We'd generally get permission first. Kids in public spaces, myself and every photojournalist I've worked with do ask the parents first and try to respect their wishes. I've actually never been rejected. You can photograph visible private property while in public spaces. Never ran into it, but I know it is on the subject to keep their affairs private, if they say...don't shut the curtains and stand naked in front of the window that is visible from the public park across the street you can legally photograph that. That is...really weird though.
This made me remember of a time recently when I worked in a grocery store and a woman asked me to watch her baby while she ran back to get something that she forgot. I instantly panicked for her. You don’t know me. Why would you do that
First time I've gotten to watch instead of just listen to the podcast via Spotify. RACHEL IS GORGEOUS!! All the Try Wives are stunning but this first time seeing Rachel, dang lady looking good!
I think to me that shock is that they mentioned nothing about the person who brought the idea of putting Britney into the conservatorship to Britney’s father. The same woman who tried to put Lindsey Lohan and Courtney Love into a conservatorship but failed, the whole thing is just ridiculous.
The more I go through these comments, the more I’m finding female celebrities that have been treated horribly in a similar way (not always as extreme though) by the public and the industry. I’m only 20. So I grew up with Britney but more on the tail end of her fame. I’ve heard all her songs but I didn’t experience seeing her rise to fame like many other people. I did however live in the time of Taylor Swift, Demi Lovato, kinda Paris Hilton, and other women with similar experiences. It’s amazing to me how often this cycle repeats itself in varying degrees!
I used to live in Asia as a kid and people would always touch my hair (I’m blonde so it’s very different) and touch my face and everything. I still get filmed and taken pictures of when I’m out in like China and Japan. It’s constant and it’s exhausting so I can’t imagine what it would be like for people who are actually known to the public
I am glad for the Britney documentary and shedding the light on the abuse she went through and is perhaps continuing to experience. Would love to be in the courtroom and view the legal documents, so much we just don't know.
why do these women make me feel like i'm their little sister? because that's how i feel and i love it

I've had psychologists at a psychiatric hospital spit ball what disorders I could have so I'm not even surprised.
I wonder who was the psychologist who diagnosed her.
She literally wouldn't be able to have a conversation right now, much less perform with dementia. That's when your brain is damaged.
This makes Chris Crocker's "Leave Britney Alone" meltdown make a lot more sense then it did in the moment.
So true, the worst thing is that instead of listening to Chris everyone just made fun of them

Girl yes.... and the fact that we watched this happen.. I can’t even.
@@chaikristinjournals We were ALL complacent in her abuse. It's a stark truth but it's true nonetheless...I hope we're all learning to be better.
They did to priness Diana.....too like paparazzi has too much power .......
Oh girl, I have been watching this too!
Self-absorbed people only care about their intent and not their impact.

i totally agree and love how you phrased that. concise but powerful statement.
just to add to that, we have also witnessed the opposite situation. although not as many examples, there are celebrity parents out there who recognize that they chose their career to be in the public but their children did not. they also choose not to overshare about their kids in order to protect their privacy, so that they have their own stories, to prevent their backstory from being out there on the internet before the kid comes of age and can choose what to be public or not. jokingly, (i forget who it was) i remember there was a parent who said another thing was they did not want their kid to be at a disadvantage in their dating life. imagine being the offspring of famous people and strangers can google up your childhood and pull up embarassing stories/photos on social media. the stranger would be at an advantage for having access to bonus details right at the start or they would already have a first impression before even meeting you. the parent was saying it in a light joking mood but they were very serious about keeping personal stories as personal and allowing their kid to have that secrecy that a normal person takes for granted.
Justin Beiber had a picture taken of him nude, full frontal, on a balcony and that photo was released to the public.
@@Aaaaaaaalonika I think it's ok if we dont personally actually *feel* the outrage we would if we were personally connected to the thing.
Exactly! They've had so much time to learn and change. It's just blatant ignorance.
YES! I'm 68 and when I hear these excuses I get angry. We're not living in "the good old days ", we're living now. Get with it!
The day Britney is free I will sob tears of relief. She has been so wronged for so long.
I owned all her CDs and religiously played her PS2 dance game
am i the only one who plays every episode of this channel at the background while answering schoolworks so that i can recreate a classroom environment, it makes me focus more HAHAHA
You need to talk about the Paris Hilton story and mental health once as well!!!!
Omg yes. They should watch her doc! I think this is all connected in a big way
@@emmyemu33 I don't know.

I think that all conservatorships should have mandatory court reviews every 5 years.
This got me fired up. Britney was one of my idols growing up and things were never ever fair for her

How could people trust people with their own CHILD so easily?

My mom was put under a temporary conservatorship during a mental health crisis. She got to CHOOSE her conservator. She was on an involuntary hold in a mental health facility (a 5150), yet she STILL got to choose my grandma as her conservator.

Have in mind Britney was forced to sign cship by her father. If she didn't sign it she wouldn't be able to see her kids.

Also who remember the movie Crossroads?? Iconic movie of my youth!!

You girls should also talk about Taylor Swift. She had a similar arc where the media and paparazzi hounded her to get a byte regarding whom she's dating and what she does in her private life. They then spun it to mock her for being someone who always writes about her failed relationships - while it's not that uncommon in real life. It's sad to see how differently women are portrayed in media almost as if by being a celebrity the person loses agency over their own life 😔😔😔😔😔
So true- she went on the Ellen Show and Ellen mocked her for this very thing, and ended up making Taylor cry on live TV :/

This podcast is the highlight to my week and the fact that there’s now an episode dedicated to Britney makes me so happy 🥰
Remember when you used to put your CD into your computer to watch the music videos that went along with the album?
Such a great episode. My heart breaks for Britney. As a new mom, I could not imagine having those vulnerable months in the public eye and just trying everything to protect your kids.
on the part about the car photos: this is why kpop stars have one member of the group doesn’t wear a dress and holds a towel or blanket in front of the open door as the other member get out so those photos don’t happen.
It’s so sad that they even have to have that protocol.

American kids are super domesticated.

Fascinating subject choice. Here for it 🍿
HOLY SHIT IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THEM TO TALK ABOUT THIS
I imagine that the drive to become paparazzi is the financial incentive and the power trip to be the one to break salacious gossip first.
I'm literally listening to this waiting for the Demi doc

When ycswu started I was here for it but I never knew that it was everything I was missing in life! Love this podcast
I also had the intense interest from strangers to my twins. I had a woman literally hold onto my shopping cart to stop me from moving away. Crazy times.
Praying for Britney to get the justice she deserves ❤️ she is a strong woman capable of doing anything!
i grew up listening to an album of her my dad brought home. Up to half of my gradeschool years i listened to her and celine dion. i was born in 2003.
I’m so excited! I’m so behind the times. I’m glad they’re talking about this today. I need someone to explain the Britney story to me and I haven’t had the desire to watch an entire documentary.
That’s a real big ask my friend. Probably cant be summarized in a comment. I’d suggest googling for a summary someone has already made
@@artisticalchemypod I just meant I’m glad that they’re talking about it so I know. I prob should look it up and read about it I just haven’t made it a priority.
@@NSAB120 gotcha! I haven't watched it yet myself, but been doing some reading and viewing commentary ☺️
I am 16 and I grew up with Britney!! She was my whole childhood because my aunt would constantly play her music
I can’t.
You would hope that the female celebrities would be able to sue the paparazzo for up the skirt photos. Your vulva is NOT public domain!
Having worked as a photographer, this is the general standard:
In public property, photographers can take photos and videos anything in plain sight.
Brittany Spears was my first concert as a kid at the Tacoma Dome in WA. It was when she was wearing the red jump suit
I think to me that shock is that they mentioned nothing about the person who brought the idea of putting Britney into the conservatorship to Britney’s father. The same woman who tried to put Lindsey Lohan and Courtney Love into a conservatorship but failed, the whole thing is just ridiculous.
I meant that Lou Ann Taylor wasn’t really mentioned in the documentary.
Emily Ratajowski releases a great article about her image not being her own intellectual property! Really insightful and powerful perspective
I am glad for the Britney documentary and shedding the light on the abuse she went through and is perhaps continuing to experience. Would love to be in the courtroom and view the legal documents, so much we just don't know.
Episode 32! I have seen 32 of these?! loving every minute
Love listening to you girls! It’s like chillin with friends lol
The Britney Story is so interesting and creepy. Love that they talk about this. 😁
