I walked into the YMCA in Dallas Texas when I was seven years old, to take my swimming lesson, and there was a man all alone in a big room playing Boogie Woogie on the piano - and I was transfixed to the spot! The power of its rhythm captivated me, and unknown to that Boogie Woogie piano player, I was to become a lifelong professional drummer, eventually playing with many of my jazz idols. Boogie Woogie is actually a style of 12-bar blues, and as such is the foundation of much of our American rhythm & blues, jazz, and rock & roll.
He really didn't do a 1-4-5 in a dramatic way. You're supposed to get the beat going and then move up to the 4 chord really get rolling and so on through the 12 bars.
I loved the way, that little girl's face changed, as she realised Brendan could play, really quite well! It's so lovely to see the joy on kiddies faces.

I'd love to dance Boogie Woogie with you Jeanette 😅😅😅💯😍👊
I'd love to just break out my sax and just start jaming with this guy or anyone really because i love blues, boogie woogie, and swing. Out of all of them my favorite is boogie woogie i can't help but tap my feet to it every time.
I listen to hip hop and rap but strangely, pianos draw me in everytime
Mozart’s ghost walks by
Brendan: you know boogy woogy?
Nice one
Adam Rohret Beethoven
LeicaM11 thank you
@John Taylor we know john
Mozart: No, but I can learn it in 1 minute
Girls helping Brendan to find the proper key really melts one's heart.
I love your videos on You tube, I love the reactions of those you teach, prank and play along with. So much fun. Thanks for all you do . Just the enjoyment and laughter. Thank you......
The patience of a musical God and the gleeful soul of an angel with any crowd! ;)
That was so cute when the little one grabbed you finger and put it on the correct key...priceless :)
And that my friends is called a moment of grace, love, fellowship, and oneness. I love it when our human family recognizes one another.
legend has it hes still trying to find middle C
There used to be a programme called sea hunt any relation.
So much amazement and happiness in that girls smile, melts ones heart.
I can watch this all day long but one thing upsets me every time. The mums and the two little girls are absolutely enthralled by Dr K and constantly smile and giggle and clap hands but the little one in the pushchair never seems to have any attention given to her😢😢
Its not the fact that your a very talented player whoever you are mate its the fact that...you ROCK! Nah ..its the fact that you make people smile..and seemingly..share your talents freely and openly..THATS PRICELESS!
So home TH-cam randomly suggest I needed to watch piano videos...
Did I watch the whole thing absolutely.
Did I subscribe to his channel yes I did. And now I'm going to binge watch all of his awesome boogie woogie videos
You have very good taste🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗ENJOY!!!
people "thumbed down" on this......How is that even possible?
This is one of the coolest things I have seen someone do in a long time!
I was just going to write something about that 1.8 thumbs down on this, most beautiful thing I've seen in a long time. What a rotten life they must live. You don't have a hart or a soul if you can't like this.
53 yr old black man ' born and bread in PGH PA , been through it ALL '' and some , but when the lil 1 took his finger the first time - I CRYED [ HA HA HA HA HA !!!! ] ...
I couldn't k this more. What a fabulous experience he just gifted those children with. Brendan, you're a hero!
Super 👍👍 👌 Big influence on them. That's a day they will always remember! So KEWL...😎
Yes! And mum making sure she doesn't forget, by video-ing it!!!
The SMILES on All the Girls faces are just Priceless ! ! ! Made Me SMILE TOO ! ! !
Beethoven’s ghost walks by. “Do you know boogie woogie?” “Pardon?” 😬🎹
Cel mai superb videoclip al lui BRENDAN_ pe care il apreciez si admir ,aduce multe bucurii in sufletul si inima copiilor& mamicilor_ felicitari realizatorilor_
No one can ever resist the moving power of boogie woogie. I do NOT dance whatsoever but something about boogie woogie when I hear just makes me wanna move!
Lol the look on the faces of those two kiddies when you started playing... priceless, like they were convinced you couldn't play and then ....... Thanks brilliant and great fun.
Thank you Brendan for having put a smile on their faces. Even the baby in stroller was very excited. You made their day. Thank you!
I love the smile the little girl by the piano got. Like oh, you tricked us you sly cat. The mama with dark hair started tapping her feet. Turkey should start some dancing with boogie woogie. Do some swing dancing in Turkey.
The best gift ever for those 2 little ones !! Outstanding sir
That was sooo cute and adorable the two little girls teaching you where 'C' is, especially when the one took your finger and placed it on the proper key! ❤
Thank you Dr. K that made my day .
Hi ı m turkish guy and ı wanna say that, u are amazing sir. When ı listen you , this turkish march and turkish music ı am so proud and this lady is super mom. Selam ablacım eğer bunu okursan şunu demek istiyorum çocuklarını böyle güzel şeylere yöneltmen çok hoş, bir psikolog olarak gurur duydum :)
Music is always the universal language, the girls faces light up when they hear the groove....
The world needs more of Brendan’s in this troubled world, 👏👏👏👏👏❤️
What you did for them 3 little girls was priceless! They will never forget this! Bless you...
I’m glad you mentioned the little one too. She was adorable too.
