Excellent advice! I would offer that "one is none . . . two is one . . ."

I've heard that many times before and I should remember to use that saying more often. Thanks.

I'm in an off-grid cabin up in the NM mountains. Single digit temps with mucho snow in the winter. Closest resupply is over an hour away on clear roads, much, much longer if there's snow. We use that saying all the time. We also monitor GMRS/MURS b/c folks get into a bind without heat, power, etc. and we take care of each other. What's the other saying? - Better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.

Great advice. I'm in Colorado but have spent a decent amount of time in the Northern NM mountains. I love it there.

The whole hot tent woodstove thing was a gamechanger for me. I do use a pretty serious sleeping bag too. I love SW Colorado. Lived over the San Luis Vally and BV years ago.

It's a beautiful area, plus I like it also due to less people from the front range will make that drive.

I've had my Buddy Heater 'refuse' to stay lit (pilot light) before. What I've had to do is hit it with a BBQ style lighter while the pilot is on. That extra flame seems to actuate the thermocouple. May or may not work in all instances. Just a suggested workaround.

    Look at portable diesel heaters.

I have one in my garage right now and am preparing to test it on my next camping trip. Thank you for the advice.

You’re gonna love the diesel heater!

I found when the orifice is partially plugged by dirt and/or oil leaching from the hose from running a 20 lb tank I have successfully cleared it with carb cleaner or starting fluid. Just give it 5 or 10 minutes to dissipate before attempting to relight. Failing that, tear the cotton off a q-tip and use the stick to clear the orifice. Worst case scenario you will have to disassemble and clear out the tubing.

Thank you for the advice. I'll work on that this week to see if I can get it to work. This also gives me an idea for an upcoming video.

These heaters stop working at single temperatures .it's something buddy heater does on purpose to stop you from getting warm

Good point. I've only used them down to around 15 degrees. I guess I need to get out in colder weather.
I'm also testing a new diesel heater, plus working on my wood stove to see if I can get more control over the heat it puts out.
