Hunt is a lefty Wild needed a Righty, with Zeev looking like he'll join the team after his college season ends it makes some sense to swap hunt, Hunt has looked good aside from not being a points earner on an Iowa team that's been handcuffed with Minnesota calling up guys constantly the last two years.
He had potential but so does every 1st rounder/prospect. Giving up a 1st+2nd+4th+22yr old prospect who's played 13NHL gp seems really steep. Imo it's win for Blue Jackets they already have Mataychuk,Svozil,Elick,Cuelemans D prospects and alot of young forwards in Lindstrom,Fantilli,Brindley,Johnson,Sillinger,Dumais,Pinelli.
Giving up a late first, a 2nd in 2 years and 2 mid draft picks in a year plus a guy who was the odd man out and had no spot on the team is no steep for a top 4 potential top pair big RHD. Blue Jackets having other good prospects doesn't make losing a top prospect any less bad
Jiricek was unhappy about being sent back down with the Monsters and I get it. His agent negotiated a 1-way CBJ contract so he wouldn't be stuck in the AHL, (even though I think its the best place for him). I live in Ohio and I've watched him play a lot, he is two completely different players in the AHL vs the NHL. AHL he's confident and always finds himself at the right place at the right time. In the NHL he takes stupid penalties and makes bad turnovers in front of Elvis (which usually ends up in the back of the net)! In Minnesota he'll excel. He has guys like Spurgeon to help him develop and that's what he needs! It's a good move for everyone involved as far as I can see.
Bill Guerin GREATER than Kyle Dubas. Basically a late 1st, a 2nd and a 3rd for a 6th overall. 3rds rarely work out, that's nothing. They traded down by trading a 5th for a 4th, no big deal. If the player works out and reaches his potential or is a longterm consistent mid, it's still a win for the Wild. At least CBJ didn't draft Shane Wright at 4th or Cutter at 5th. Daemon was a 3rd. I'd avoid anyone with the name Dxemon. Whatever, it's a we'll see later trade.
@@martinslezak9664 They wanted Wallinder from VAN in exchange to get it done. I think the Wild were the highest bidders in terms of draft capital. No one wanted to give up a 2nd tier prospect for him.
Cbj has seen his skating has NOT improved. That was the knock on him in the draft and why he fell to the 6th pick. If cbj is right it's a great trade for them.... if they are wrong....well
3 coaches and 2 GMs have all agreed that Jiricek isn’t ready and the knock on him I’ve seen for 3 straight years has been the same - HE CANT SKATE. Maybe he reaches his potential in Minnesota but I’m trusting DW here that he knows how to evaluate defensemen. He built a pretty solid stable of them in Carolina.
I can't think of a team with that much management turnover that makes great decisions or excels at player development, though. Not saying the Wild are the paragon by any means, but I'm fine with the gamble since the 1st looks like it'll be fairly late.
Jiricek will be a bottom pair dman but a solid bottom pair guy in a few years. Even if he is slow as crap he will be solid enough to give you 13 mins a night for cheap and not hurt you.
@ he has none of the above. He’s a slow right handed dman who was over rated by scouts and mistakes were made drafting him way too high. GMs a can’t resist taking a gamble on tall Right handed d men, this guy will be lucky if he has the career close to Adam Larrsons.
@@josefharasek7487 he's kinda fast and has good natural agility. Problem is he struggles skating backwards, especially at higher speeds which is a necessity in today's game. I trust Andy Ness though.
This is just a weird trade. Like a low first and some other picks isnt a bad price for Jiricek, but Minnesota just... doesnt need him? Again, you already have Faber, Brodin, Spurgeon, and then Buium once Spurgeon retires. Maybe Guerin is cooking a 5d chess move of a blockbuster but as of right now I don't know what the point of this trade would be.
Bad trade, if Jiricek couldn’t get in a lineup in Columbus. Do you think he’ll get in a lineup in Minnesota with Brodin, Spurgeon, Faber, and Buiium?😂 If I’m Jiricek, I’m wanting minutes. Good job on Columbus getting quantity.
Spurgeon will be 37 in two years when his contract expires. They want him to be their #2 RHD eventually. He'll play in the AHL for 2-3 weeks, then start filling in for Merrill, Bogosian and Chisholm this year. One more year on his ELC and then a bridge deal after a full year/camp with the team next year.
That’s all Columbus got was quantity though. lol. That same team that shouldn’t have drafted Jiricek that high and couldn’t develop him, are gonna get about 3 more chances to not do the same. Good luck.
I believe in the brain trust for the Wild. I mean, just look at the trade for Middleton and Faber! Excited to see him play now.......

Good take, couldn’t agree more.
I'm happy they are taking a bet on a 6'4" RHD with this upside. The 1st they gave up isn't going to be a prospect with nearly that ceiling.

Bogo is a real solid 3rd pair guy. He’s been a great pick up for the Wild.
Middsy is a beauty too.

How was Dean’s guy Freddy Gudreau not included in this
CBJ isn't trading for a guy named Gaudreau, let's be real.
We keep him because he is good depth
Might as well send a late first for a guy they clearly think can develop his skating game
hes got crazy potential. mark my words

He will be in exactly the same situation as in Columbus. He belongs in the AHL. The bad asset management by Wadell is the problem here.
Severson a wild CONFIRMED
Im gonna throw up. Bunch of 3rd rounders and a low 1st rdr in a middlin draft year. This is the BEST offer he got?

Spurgeon ain't gonna be around forever also brodin is hurt again so wouldn't be suprised jurichek plays for MN soon
