There is a point to making them commanders the have bonuses to your troops from their skills. Jamie for example would probably be a good infantry commander because he has high skills in melee weapons.some skills provide bonuses to troops such as increasing weapon handling or giving them an increased chance to knock people off their horse with their spears. All those effects in the skill tree that say troops in your formation means the formation your in command of. Those do not apply to your entire army just to the formation your in command of. You would not want to be the archer commander as you don’t have skills in bow. Theon might be a good archer commander I assume he has good bow skill. Check their skill tree and see what effects they have for troops in their formation they could increase your troops power quite a bit. Pretty sure there’s also a way to see their effects in the screen where you’re setting up troops before the battle.
Ok here’s a good example of what I was saying. At 25:50 it says +10% damage to shields by troops in your formation. That means if say your in command of the infantry formation if before that they would have hit shields for 50 hp now they would hit for 55. 10% of whatever they were gonna do extra so they can chop apart shields faster. That’s just an example of a skill there are obviously other that are much better and others that do the same thing. Yes skills stack so if you had a skill that does the same thing but adds 20% (not sure if such a skill exists) total damage would go from 50 to 65
When you go to Thenn in Wildling territory and go into the Tavern, you can recruit Giants for 10k each. Not a companion, but Units. Very expensive but good.
Thunder knights are from the storm lands the reach has I believe flower knights or rose knights something like that their Calvary with slashing 2 handed polearms and bows which is pretty cool. Some storm lands troops get giant 2 handed hammers btw
I would have recommended building relations with the north before joining the west as a merc. Could have built it enough to still have decent relations after killing Walder Frey and or roose bolten. Not sure if you have to kill both but I’m guessing you will
I don’t think you have to kill Stanis to save Renly I think you have to kill Melisandre though I could be wrong and killing Stanis would probably do it too
Found your channel with this series. Loving it man.
And congrats on your upcoming wedding!
You can get Qyburn for Medicine; he's very good at it. Additionally, in Thenn, you can get a giant for 10,000 gold.
To be able to get the giant, you need to talk to the giant at the tavern in Thenn.

“It’s almost unfair” he says in the battle where he lost 1 man to their 60… yeah I’d say it was pretty unfair 💀
