Young, Innocent and Graceful at the beginning, Nina transforms herself into a jealous, evil, scheming and angry Black Swan by the end of it & refers the performance as 'Perfection'. 2. It can be seen as the tale of a mirrorball performer: One thing a performer always has to do, whether it be a singer, a dancer or an actor, is fake it. When they are sad off-stage, they fake a smile because they're up on that stage to entertain. They constantly shape-shift to become what the world wants to see. Nina here tried her absolute best, gave everything to not become like the girl who was kicked out (played by gorgeous Winona Ryder) because apparently people didn’t find her intimidating anymore. The reason why I called this a 'mirrorball' performer is because in her song 'mirrorball', famous popstar Taylor Swift discussed this kind of a performer described above. 3. It portrays maturity: Nina is, in the beginning of the movie, afraid, innocent and adorable just like a child. As the movie goes further, Nina adapts not only anger but also jealousy, inner demons, explicit s*xu@l thoughts, madness, sin and more just to fit in like a real human being does to survive in a society. By the end of it all, the scene where the White Swan (the innocence) is dying, the blood out of the lower side of the belly probably portrays menstruation, another thing in women considered as the sign of maturity. Yes, she didn't kill Lily with that broken mirror piece, she killed her inner child, the White Swan within. By the way, white swans in general are considered as the representation of Purity. And there here are so many other ways to see this story. I loved this movie when I saw it for the first time. I needed a revisit but because I'm in the middle of an exam season, I hit an explanation instead. Nice work, Bollywood Silver Screen ❤❤❤
