to one of your points- i’d like to hear someone list all these extraction shooters that apparently exist. Because last time I checked, there weren’t any extraction shooters that appealed to a broad audience and weren’t strictly hardcore or extremely stylized and niche (tarkov or hunt). I think a ton of people confuse and conflate extraction games with battle royales, as well as any other game with “extraction” mechanics like helldivers 2 or deep rock galactic. And so it can feel at times that there are plenty of extraction games, but in reality there’s a massive hole in the market to be filled. Also, forget the buzzword extraction shooter. When you really break it down, it’s just another form of game mode that’s extra high-stakes and tense. And I think those games offer the most replayability and are even the most stream-able and content worthy. So it’s less about the specific game mode and more about the tension it offers- extraction games vary wildly in how each game mode works. They are not all the same
I'm not really sure what you mean by appealed to a broad audience, or were stylized or hardcore? Off the top of my head, I can name several extraction shooters that have released in 2024 alone. Gray Zone Warfare, Delta Force, Arena Breakout Infinite which had its first season in November. Some earlier releases off the top of my head, Dark and Darker, Level Zero Extraction, Dungeonborne, Incursion Red River, Marauders, Beautiful Light... The list goes on and on. Those are just some from the past two years as well, I don't really have the time to list off every one to release earlier give since Tarkov's successful release into EA back in I believe 2017ish. It's a very saturated market for Extraction shooters.
@@PrePatchPodcast Every genre is saturated if you list all of the shovelware and every game that is even tangentially related. You just included games that aren't even shooters, aren't even released, completely busted early access games, and PvE only games. I bet I can name 3 times as many PvE co-op shooters... Is that genre not saturated?
@@JermVVarfare What? All of those are Extraction Shooters? Dungeonborne and Dark and Darker are the only ones that have "Magic and Melee" mixed in, the rest are shooters, through and through. And only one of them is PVE only lol... Also all of those were released at this point, or have been released in the past year. Regardless of your opinion on if they're busted or not, they are a part of the extraction shooter genre. And I am sure you can name three times as many pve co-op shooters. The comment wasn't about pve co-op shooters though, we were asked to list all the extraction shooters that apparently exist... And thus, named of several of the more popular titles in the last two years. There are plenty more that could have been listed off. Glad you enjoy the genre, but to sit here and act like it isn't a saturated game genre is a bit asinine. Regardless of other genre's being in the picture. Extraction shooters are quickly becoming the new zombie survival game genre that got inundated with games after Day Z released. And as you yourself put, there is an abundance of 'completely busted, early access games." this is generally a sign of a genre being saturated, when you have more games that are broken and unplayable than quality games. Thanks for the comment though. Glad you enjoy Extraction genre, so do we! We just call it like we see it. *** EDIT: My bad, I had thought Beautiful Light had released. You got me on that one. GG ***
@@PrePatchPodcast "And I am sure you can name three times as many pve co-op shooters. The comment wasn't about pve co-op shooters though" All of the complaining in the video was about how the game switch from a co-op shooter to an extraction shooter which is an "oversaturated genre". Saying a genre is "saturated" because you can list a handful of shovelware and indie games, when many genres (including the one you're complaining this moved away from) have far more of the same type of low budget titles, is asinine.
