    I delivered a baby who died a few minutes after he was born. The minutes we had with him were very peaceful and healing for me. I can't imagine how terminating the pregnancy earlier would have made it any better, I'm sure it would have made it way worse. In our case we were able to baptize, meet, and hold our baby boy which I am so grateful to God for.

      My wife and I went through the same thing. We found out at her 20 week ultrasound that our son had thanatophoric dysplasia, and were told he likely wouldn't live long, if he survived the delivery at all. We were encouraged by some people to abort, but we could never do that. We had our priest in the OR to baptize him and he lived for about a half hour.

    I thought about having an abortion with my last. I got very sick during pregnancy, but my last was absolutely worse than the first two. I was 3 months pregnant and just vomited for the fifth time that day. I had wet myself from the force of it and was sitting on the floor of the bathroom imagining 6 more months of this and crying. How much easier would this be to just end it? But this thought popped in my head - and I have a one-sided bond with Cameron because of this - “this is my body broken for you.” He celebrates his eighth birthday this month and he is the joy of my heart.

      Omg that last bit came to me during mass. I gave birth 3 weeks ago and have had such a difficult pregnancy. Currently struggling with preeclampsia and my labor didn’t go anywhere near as planned. It was awful but through it all I kept saying, Lord, like your body was broken for me, I allow mine to be broken for my child. Also had a traumatic c section but hearing my baby cry flooded me with peace and joy.

      Omg I had almost the exact same experience. I felt so angry with God in that moment for commissioning us to ‘go fourth and be fruitful’ etc. and then make it such a brutal, cruel and undignified experience.
      I love my babies. I have two now, and still want more. But sometimes I cry thinking about having to be pregnant again. I absolutely hate being pregnant and I hate the postpartum stage. To be totally honest, I really don’t like breastfeeding either. It’s such a revolting experience. Of course it’s worth it - but only just 😂
      Anyway. One day I’ll sit before God, and if I remember, once I’m sitting in his presence, I’ll ask Him why it is the way it is 😂

    I carried and delivered twins knowing one might not make it to term. He indeed did. The delivery was very traumatic due to the doctor, but I will never regret carrying, delivering and meeting my son. To have loved and felt him for nearly 9 months, to hold him for the short few minutes I had is worth all the pain and tears of releasing him to Jesus' waiting arms.

    Wholly agree with the public shaming of Christian’s who don’t celebrate this victory. At my FORMER church, the pastor didn’t recognize this momentous event until I called him out for ignoring it. He later went on to tell the congregation that we shouldn’t be celebrating like we were, and also started making allowances for it. I have since removed my family from that toxic environment. Her faith in God is strong and she preaches the truth even though 85% of the US population is against abortion. Who cares, what others think right? It's all about giving rights to an egg the size of a pin head, over the rights of the mother. I mean who do pregnant women think they are, that they're in charge of their own reproduction? Lol, no we as the church, state, believers decide to abolish abortion and turn them into baby-making machines that churn out mentally handicapped kids. What a beautiful paradise we'll create on Earth when downs syndrome kids are the vast majority of people.

    Luke 1:38 Mary said, “Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord. May it be done to me according to your word.” Then the angel departed from her.
    Luke 1:41-44 When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the infant leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth, filled with the holy Spirit, cried out in a loud voice and said, “Most blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb.
    And how does this happen to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?
    For at the moment the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the infant in my womb leaped for joy.

    Just read this beautiful quote today from TFP Student Action for Mother's Day:
    "To all mothers -- we wish you a most blessed Mother's Day!
    “The most important person on earth is a mother,” he wrote Cardinal Joseph Mindszenty. “She cannot claim the honor of having built Notre Dame Cathedral. She need not. She has built something more magnificent than any cathedral -- a dwelling for an immortal soul, the tiny perfection of her baby's body…
    “The angels have not been blessed with such a grace. They cannot share in God’s creative miracle to bring new saints to Heaven. Only a human mother can. Mothers are closer to God the Creator than any other creature; God joins forces with mothers in performing this act of creation… What on God's good earth is more glorious than this: to be a mother?”"
    Praying for the mothers in your life, Matt!

    @1:30:05 My cousin's baby girl was diagnosed with a severe condition inutero that guaranteed she would not live passed a few hours or possibly days. My cousin chose to deliver her child, she held her, she talked to her, she loved her for the few hours of her life then held her through her passing into death. She even baptized her. My cousin believed her child, no matter her condition, deserved to feel the love of her mother, in her arms, even if fleeting. She felt that this daughter of hers was specially sent to my cousin as a gift for her and her alone. What a beautiful acceptance of life for what it is. Matt!!! i HIGHLY encourage a conversation on your podcast over mental health!! Lila seems like a great person to talk to but yeah, i don’t see a lot of Catholics advocate for people with crippling anxieties and depression, personality disorders, etc. what they even mean and how it affects their life and potentially their faith. incredibly real and i see it quite often doing so. also as person with an ADHD diagnosis…. we have very similar attention spans 😂💗 squirrel!! lolol love ya tons and this episode!!

    I think, President Trump's answer about wanting everyone to stop dying, was the only answer he could give. If he had favored one above the other, then the other would be hostile and not come to the negotiation table. Sometimes, it's best to not show all your cards.

    As soon as I accepted Christ I can remember my opinion on abortion just effortlessly switched. Praise God because I was trying for a child at the time and was of the opinion that any defect would mean abortion (Lord have mercy on me) but immediately I was completely against abortion. Praise God

    I really appreciate both of you. Lila and Live Action were a huge influence on me and helped me to join the Pro-Life movement even though I used to be completely Pro-Abortion.
    My only (hopefully) constructive criticism is: if you’re going to publicly comment on politics, it would be preferable if you watch the content that you are passing judgment on.
    You should have watched the CNN/Trump broadcast if were going to castigate someone over their answers. I’m not a Trump person, but the answers you judged him on were actually quite good if you watched it for the context.
    In war, it’s unwise to back Putin into a corner. If he says we should go bomb Russia, well now we’ve lost all of our available options for peace. Not to mention all of the propaganda that has been pushed into the media. It’s hard to know what is factual and what isn’t.
    Our hearts break for everyone involved. I can’t imagine the things you saw in Ukraine. But when CNN asked him that question, you have to realize that they want more war because it’s good for ratings.
    I want peace. We still may need to invade Russia or wherever, but it’s silly to tell the world your plan because then you don’t have the other options.
    Just my 2 cents. Love you guys all the same. God bless!

    • @johnnotrealname8168
      @johnnotrealname8168 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah. I do not want further escalation in Russia, I just want the war to end. Stop the killing. I am not vitriolically opposed to Russia and see it's worries but of course Ukraine is receiving the battering and I do not want them to die. Ultimately Trump is smart, he even agreed on more spending because he wanted Europe to put up more money.

    Lila is amazing and I am praying for her good work. I would encourage her to step outside her comfort zone a bit and investigate a few points on the radical feminist attack on men. The fact that men are following ayate is concerning but genuinely about 70% of what he says isn’t wrong.
    That being said. The media DESTROYED men like Jordan Peterson. If they had treated him reasonably, men wouldn’t be gravitating towards more extremes like Tate

    • @mmmckaysquad
      @mmmckaysquad ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, but the 30% is so profoundly wrong it's not even funny. I actually like listening to him when he's not vulgar and find him really funny, but ultimately he supports degeneracy.

    • @joane24
      @joane24 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I honestly could never understood the attacks on Jordan Peterson. He's like father-type in a positive sense of masculinity, not negative/toxic like Tate. And Peterson was always speaking from secular, non-religious perspective, based on logic and common sense, meaning he could reach many more people (in comparison to had he be coming from a religious perspective), and it was always so strange/incomprehensible to me why he got so much critique from the left. It's a pity, Jordan is really good/positive male role model.

Thank you so much for having Lila on. She is an inspiration to me. Thank you so much for your wonderful work, Lila! I am so glad that the first time I ever heard about Abortion, it was in Middle school and we had a guest speaker who talked about a girl that got pregnant at 16. She freaked out and went to the "nice nurses" who told her everything would be okay. But the thing those "nice nurses" failed to mention was the night terrors, the immense sadness and regret and physical cramping to the point of seething in a fetal position for hours, she could, and then did have. Now the girl is older with 2 sons, but who always wanted a daughter. Who wonders if the one she aborted could have been her daughter. Who thinks about them ever day. That girl was the speaker. It hit me like a ton of bricks. From that day on, well before I was religious, I knew abortion was an evil and under no circumstance, should it be allowed. To me it is even more impressive because this was a PUBLIC school. Very shocking that they allowed her to speak
    Thank you Matt for this awesome podcast and the amazing guest you had.
