Nice video. One thing to keep in mind is that the tour of Southland is known for its crazy strong cross / head winds. So comparing times vs power from different years isn’t necessarily a good indication of aero. The weather this year was unusually calm which may have helped Vink set a fast time on that course. Also maybe why Bond kept his hands on his hoods in 2018.

All that rowing gave him great lower back and hamstring flexibility it seems! His position looks to be almost too low - his upper back should be horizontal and not looking down (but you'd need a wind tunnel to find out for sure)

Michael Vink is on absolute fire this year. Such a strong rider. Should be riding in Europe.

In my opinion the best position for road bike TT’s is hoods tilted really far in, super narrow bars, tilted slightly up almost in a praying mantis position

@@cornishalps9870 he did turn pro. But he’s not as aero as Ganna. And a bit heavier too. He went back to rowing and won a third Olympic gold medal.

All that effort getting good highlights footage, but they haven't even closed the roads and are drafting vans and avoiding oncoming cars???

True. The rules state you have to use the same bike for the entire tour so it was allowed but of course it was a disadvantage with being heavier for all the road race stages and yet he won the last stage from two soon to be world tour riders Campbell Stewart and Corbin Strong on that same bike
