Starving is infact, the least of your issues
True. lol
This one of the better beginners guide I've seen so far
Thank you so much. I worked so hard for it :3
@@EllieMenopy that shows with the research you did
I have many hours in the game but I really like watching any guides for refreshers and I must say this is a really great beginners guide! Just a few things I found like to add for new players or anyone who is interested in the game,
1) in your crafting bar slot, you should put what you make often. In my case, for my first crafting bar, I always put a campfire, fire pit, endothermic fire, pickaxe, axe, hammer. Second crafting bar, I put rope, cut stones, boards, spears, football helmet and log suit. Play around with the crafting bar stuff and see what works for you best. I have seen people not utilizing this feature and it’s just a pity. It’s so customizable.
2) precraft your items beforehand, for example you can precraft campfires and fire pits, endo fire before actually using them on the spot, personally I ALWAYS precraft them, you never know when you might need them. It saved me multiple times.
3) always keep some essentials on you, twigs, grass, logs, flints. They’re very handy. If you know you can safely go without them, go without them.
4) besides torch, campfire& fire pit, there are other light sources such as lanterns & miner hat, both are easy to make. I know Ellie mentioned not to go down the caves until you’re ready, I actually recommend go down to just ONE sinkhole and grab lightbulbs, maybe a lil far away from where you wanna base if you’re worried about the bats. Lightbulbs are accessible near the sinkhole when you go down in the caves. Grab a couple (at least 2 to make one lantern) and you should be good for the next couple of days. Grab and YEET back up. 😂 If you’re still unsure, you can ignore this.
5) once you get an alchemy engine up and running, you don’t actually need a science machine anymore and you can just hammer it down and get some of the resources back.
I think these are some of the tips I have for now. If there’s anything I am missing please let me know!
(P.s Ellie, you can actually punch/attack the walls instead of using a hammer 👀)
Friend said he wanted me to try the game. I saw no tutorials. Load in, walk around, see frogs, see attack prompt, try to fight frogs, die twice. I am now here hoping I can figure out wtf is going on.
Okay incoming long Comment some corrections additional tips and stuff and useful information First off tips and information.
Health is very precious in this game as such I'd recommend armor as your survivability with it goes from 0 to 100 very fast its pretty much essential not having any is a death wish waiting to happen.
Bosses (the seasonal ones) will make the season after the one they are introduced in much easier say if (insert boss here) was the winter seasonal, its drops would make spring easier and vice versa for most of the seasonals.
Base location is a tricky subject as a lot of it depends on what character your playing and how the world is generated, if you know your character well you will know what they specifically may or may not need, wormholes are also an important piece as if you have ones that connect to very far positions in the map its likely you'll base there as you can get to everything easier.
Crock pots and the food you make from them is the way I recommend you to heal regain sanity or get hunger if you know your dishes you can ditch pretty much any other way of getting stats purely in favor of these as it will allow you to stay more mobile however this does require knowledge on how to make foods so it will require some experimentation.
The caves isn't too dangerous of any area most parts anyway however I advise you not carry any meat when exploring as certain creatures don't take too kindly to that lightbulbs are one of the best resources you can find there as you can make a lantern which is infinitely better than a torch highly recommend it
Bernie is able to distract and fight nightmare creatures however as your sanity will never increase since YOU didn't kill them that means that eventually bernie will run out of health and die to the nightmare creatures so unless you regain sanity wether by landing the finishing blow to nightmare creatures or eating specific foods its only a matter of time before bernie falls.
Edit:forgot to add this but if you burn something on a thermal stone then water the thermal stone with a watering can it will get colder this allows you to cool down thermals without having to rely on an endothermic fire or icebox speaking of which iceboxes can cool down thermals
Here is some basic information regarding 2 of the DLC characters
Wortox has his own exclusive item called souls these when dropped can heal you and any nearby teammates 20 health (however this decreases by 2x for every person) and 2.5 sanity per soul souls are also pretty plentiful as you get one from killing any living creature be it butterflys or bee's you may also eat them which restores a decent chunk of hunger however it will lower your sanity by 5 wortox will also get half of the stats from any kind of food aside from his souls so if your playing with friends theres a high chance you'll empty out their fridges of food relatively fast, you can also use souls to teleport anywhere on the screen any creatures hostile to mobs will also be hostile to wortox IE pigs.
Wanda is an interesting character as her gameplay is VERY different forget everything I said about healing as wanda instead has time which will gradually tick down the only way to decrease this time is with ageless watches she will spawn with 1 but you can make more she also has 3 different age thresholds that do different things young is basically the default doesn't really change anything and it goes from 20 (which is the highest health/time) to 35 36 to 64 is middle aged and 65 to 79 for old (you die when you get to 80) when your middle aged / old you will get more proficient with magical items removing their downsides lessening them or just straight increasing your damage with them
age is equivalent to 2.5 regular hp so if you constantly stay old to take advantage of your magic efficiency you will have to run on effectively 37.5 hp which is why most consider her a glass cannon (Though I do not personally believe this) she can also make clocks that have different effects the clocks are also pretty much the only thing wanda will ever need besides food.
Regarding the other 2 DLC characters I have yet to play them so I cannot say much regarding them.
Okay Some corrections First of all logs and axes is not something I'd recommend always having on you as logs and axes aren't usually used that often and if you do ever need them tree's are plentiful and practically everywhere so use the flint you already have in your inventory and use them to make an axe whenever you need one rather than carrying it around to save on inventory space same thing with logs don't grab any unless you need it in the moment.
I would not recommend picking flowers while they are a source of sanity they also spawn butterflies which can be really useful so don't extinct your world of flowers I would recommend turning to beefalos for fertilizers or the caves as you can find a biome with a large amount of lightbulbs which will eventually spoil you can get up to triple digits of rot pretty easily the only thing is waiting for them to spoil.
Warly CAN eat the same food twice however he will gain less of the stats from them on repeat eating
generally eating the same food about 3 times is fine as the increase isn't that drastic 5 or 6 times its probably best to get some other food warly can also not eat anything that ISNT a crock pot dish as long as it is a crockpot dish he can eat it
Other players are also able to see nightmare creatures if they are sufficiently insane and no matter what your sanity is you will always be able to interact with them by force attacking even if you cannot see them though they will become visible if you happen to attack them.
A large amount of ponds isn't usually a problem as frogs don't wander too far from their ponds unlike spiders and if you have a good AOE damage source or a very strong single damage source you can farm a lot of them for easy meat
Thank you for this! 😅 My partner wants to play but I’m just not a “muck around and find out” kind of gamer… you immediately explained so many of the things I was frustrated by (ie. day 10 and can’t stay sane? Maybe you haven’t slept ONCE??) 🙌😅
Highly recommend creating a custom relaxed "baby mode" for DST! You've already paid for it, get your money's worth by being able to play it! Hounds and wildfires are the most beginner-punishing. For faster learning, I recommend "Your Skeleton Respawn" mod, which makes failing less time-consuming.
Wormwood and Wurt are perfect for playing with friends! They're 90% support. Wormwood's sanity is harmed by getting wood/uprooting resources, but it can easily be regained by planting seeds/trees. He can't heal via food, only sleep. Farming is very easy with him! Wurt is vegetarian, which is the trickiest part of keeping her alive.Their downsides are remedied simply by getting another player to do dirty work for you!
such a great introductory video for DST newbs! I almost returned this game until I saw this video and learned so much I was actually finally able to survive past day 3! Thanks for putting all you did into this and the fun little commentary during your game play mishaps were quite enjoyable, lol!
I'm really glad you enjoyed it! theres a bunch of great tips here at the comment sections. feel free to browse through. I mostly focused on the most comfortable way to play the game as a beginner :)
Hello fellow pinoy but I wanna just comment this here. Sleeping is not GREAT, I think is fine if playing with friends but I strongly advise NOT to as it is an absolute waste of time of your day. There are a lot of things easier to get sanity. Cooked green mushrooms, dried meat or jerky, cooked cactuses and roasted potato are literally the best beginner friendly for gaining sanity. Green mushrooms are abundant especially on the birchwood forests while cactuses are in deserts and can grow back even on Winter.
6:24 thats winona lol
Woah. Yea. I don't know what happened to me there. Can't change it now. Already deleted my footage lol. Thanks for letting me know 🙂
@@EllieMenopy 42:05 yeah uh found another
My face shifting in fear when I realize my base is near one of the ponds with twigs lmao 😭 I'm terrified and excited to see what happens, even if it means I die AGAIN!!
This video was great, I feel a lot more prepared to go back in solo and make some actual progress
Welcome to Don't Starve Together 😁
On 55. you dont wanna build your base around these "special" ponds because moose/goose (spring boss) will spawn during spring near these ponds
where do you store your gather materials?
THANK YOU! Am stopping halfway because I don't wanna spoil the experience. This guide has been very informative, entertainin, and funny! Now, to finally make a tent for my sanity on Day 40! Salamat po~
Glad I could help
Are there any disadvantages and advantages to the console port as That’s how I will be playing DTST?
A beginner guide that actually teaches stuff beginners need to know? It can't be. Also, the rabbits at 13:15 attacked you, because you had meat in your inventory (they are vegetarian and hate meat) they are friendly to most characters if you have no meat on you. And also also, Armor is very essential too. Almost as much as light and food. It will make everything much much easier, for beginners, Logsuits work well
Yea. Armor is incredibly useful as I've been told. Sadly, It's just that I didn't really do much combat during this playthrough. Maybe next playthrough I guess.😅
Video saved my marriage. Getting the wife into gaming and this has (for some unknown reason) become her go-to for our coop sessions (likely because she likes Wendy).
I, however, want to burn the world to ash every time I wipe out...
Another tip I'd like to add, despite being a beginner, is to replace you torch with a lantern ASAP.
Before basing you wont need much logs, do chop down living trees as they drop living logs wich you need to get into powerfull magic items.
The bunnyman are not hostile unless you carry meat (they are vegetarian)
Yea. I found that out the hard way whilst I was exploring. I guess bunnies don't like meat very much 😂
You can unlock the last 4 survivors after playing for a while by crafting them
There is also a chance to get gears by digging graves and getting tumbleweeds
That too works. Although, be careful of random bees in tumbleweeds 😁
Just watched about 10min and I notice you said sleeping is the best way to get your sanity back.
I strongly advise against sleeping espetially for new players as the best actual way to get health is food and there are plenty options to get your sanity up and be productive at the same time. Sanity does not go down on its own, some mobs or objects have negative sanity auras (darkness also has its own) and some objects and mobs also have positive ones, some foods consume sanity and some regenerate it.
The best way to deal with insanity is to learn how to fight the nightmares, they also drop nighmare fuel wich is a resource that if you start getting experience will need a lot of.
But getting back to sleeping, it rewards a stay at base playstyle and encourages you not to progress and learn the game.
If you dedicate yourself to base stuck playstyle the game will fixnd a way to punish you, be ready and explore, put yoursefl through hard times before the game does and you will progress faster and be prepared to whatever it is the game wants to put you through
picking a flower just gives +5 sanity each too
I have quite a bit of hours as well, and I think that playing the game at the brink of insanity 24/7 isn’t a very fun way to play. I’ll go insane when I need nightmare fuel, but I like managing my sanity with sleeping, flowers, cactus etc. I think that’s the way it was intended. Rather than being 100% “optimal”
@@robbybowers4581 if you have a tam you can be sane all the time without the time waste of sleeping
Why did you delete the DOS EE character guides (Geomancer Witchcraft etc) i needed them
I was doing a quick maintenance with my videos. the characters guides should be up now in the playlist tab of the channel. Apologies.
@@EllieMenopy thanks , i appreciate it
@@youssefemad8131 Yep. I'm planning of uploading more often now, so I though of readjusting my plans for this channel. Thank for being there ^^
@EllieMenopy That's great but remember Quality over Quantity your videos are very fun and informative
You get Wormwood the same way you get Warly and thats through buying DLC for Don't Starve, since Warly is from Shipwreckt and you don't have Wormwood i suggest buying Hamlet.
I've got bored from this game, does some fun mods can make me want to play back?
Wurt is totally beginner friendly trust me.
most definitely one of the more adorable survivors too.
But i'd recommended you to play both Wilson(Beard Insulation) and Willow(Slower Overheating) to get similiar with Winter and Summer since most beginner never get past them.
@@Y0LOANIMATOR yea, I forgot to extenuate the o in totally. I was trying to be sarcastic. She costs spools too, so most beginners won’t even consider her.
NorthGard Beginner's Guide pls
So is it kinda "Online" or singleplayer? If you do not have any friends that play it....
You can play it solo or with friends. It's not really an online game per se, but you can play with your friend online through steam
@@EllieMenopy ahh I see! So you can not go online and meet other players?
And can you play it “offline”?
@@chrisbenn yes it let you choose if you wanna play offline and it has a local save
@@chrisbenn It has offline mode. But of course when you made a world offline, you cannot make it online and open for friends to join in that world you play offline.
@@roromimii yeah ok thanks! :-)
Playing don’t starve on console is so hard
You forgot to put your modlist in the description but great video
Woah. Damn. Thanks for reminding me. I'll get to it tomorrow. :)
A tent? LOL What? No garland too? ;-]
8:31 did he say debt or death (No hate)
Wth i generated a world and played Maxwell (Thank god), the world was cursed as hell, no twiggs only twiggy trees and basically the spawn is on an island.
6:23 WARLY??!?
do not pic kflowers. Flowers spawn butterflies and butterflies is food.
Did you call a Thermal Stone a Touch Stone? Come on!!
I don't know what was going on in my head, I think I was sleep deprived at the time. my bad :D
@@EllieMenopy LOL! Just messing with you.....
Why has this game no tutorial?
Thats the point to tell you nothing
Bro make video on hogwarts legacy and another on Dragon's dogma 2.
I have a few ideas in mind. but Dragons Dogma is very interesting. hmmmm
@@EllieMenopy we'll be waitin for it
