No purple hair, tattoos or nose rings. No protest signs or people staring into their phones. Just well-dressed kids having fun dancing to a great song. Huey Lewis said it best; It's hip to be square.
1968, just home from the Navy and bought my first new car, 1968 AMX. Would listen to WLS out of Chicago and the late, great D. J. Dick Biondi. Good memories, as Shame Shame would fade in and out on the AM station.
@Nicola I turned 8 in October of '68, and now I wish I had asked my parents for this 45 as a birthday present. The thing is, I didn't hear the song on the radio at the time... It got very little airplay, and only reached #39 on the Billboard charts. 😊
This became one of my Vietnam songs in late '68. Has always been one of favs ever since, for whatever reason. Just wish I knew all of the lyrics! I am an oldies junkie and lyrics are important to my enjoyment of music.
Love, was the game Fool, was my name I thought you'd know wrong from right But you ran to his arms tonight Shame, shame We had a good thing, baby Shame, shame He doesn't love you, baby Shame, shame He'll only break your heart And leave you standing out in the rain Shame, shame I was your clown But he'd be around You call him up on your stage But he's acting out every page Shame, shame We had a good thing, baby Shame, shame He doesn't love you, baby Shame, shame He'll only break your heart And leave you standing out in the rain Shame, shame I thought you'd know wrong from right But you ran to his arms tonight Shame, shame We had a good thing, baby Shame, shame He doesn't love you, baby Shame, shame He'll only break your heart And leave you standing out in the rain Shame, shame Hey! @@wilburtwilliger4219 it's not often I get the words right, but these are the words I heard, but didn't think they were right! LOL The only part I couldn't make out was right after "you called him up on your stage ????????????? Now I know! Thanks so much! It's always nice to know the exact words to a song. Most of the problems come from the way the songs were recorded in the studio. Most songs, the words are very clear. Have a nice Thanksgiving! Tomorrow is my birthday. I'll be 75!
That couple at the top was kind of dorky with their dance moves but for some odd reason I liked them the best ! Great song from the past . Never forgot it
@Kenna. I still don't recall ever hearing this song on the radio--Not even the Oldies Stations I used to listen to in the 80s and 90s played it. If they did it must've been rare. I discovered it on an actual Top 40 radio station tape, that was recorded in October of '68.
This is one of my favorite 60's songs! I was 16 when this song came out. I'm always amazed at how the orchestration is written into the raw song. I love when songs modulate up a half step also.
@@kristimcnully4920 I was a strapping 13 year old and even then I said great tune got to have! At least back then you could play tunes at school, not so sure today, ha,ha. Thanks!
jimmy bilsbury of the magic lanterns was a baker before he found fame at waterfields bakery i worked with jimmy but left when excuse me baby got to number 3 in charts used to listen to them practice at the nevison inn plank lane
Wondering if a remake of this great song by an artist from the 60’s and 70’s would be received in today’s market. I am in discussions with this artist and scheduling recording in early 25 with a video to promote the release. Any suggestions and thoughts!?
Minuto 02:18 deben ser pasos de salsa , hazel, cumbia, etc. De esta hermosa canción no hay karaoke, tablatura, letra....es una pena! ..alguien podría hacerlo XFA?
It's scary to think of how many times I could listen to this on a loop w/o getting sick of it. Just a terrific sound.

What a wonderful reminder of a great period of my life…. Magnificent song

Love, was the game
Fool, was my name
I thought you'd know wrong from right
But you ran to his arms tonight
Shame, shame
We had a good thing, baby
Shame, shame
He doesn't love you, baby
Shame, shame
He'll only break your heart
And leave you standing out in the rain
Shame, shame
I was your clown

You call him up on your stage
But he's acting out every page
Shame, shame
We had a good thing, baby
Shame, shame
He doesn't love you, baby
Shame, shame
He'll only break your heart
And leave you standing out in the rain
Shame, shame

Shame, shame
He'll only break your heart
And leave you standing out in the rain

One of my favorites as a teenager back in the late 60s.
I first heard this when I was in Vietnam. It's stuck with me all these years.
All the good looking clean cut young gals & guys are probably past 70 now!

Great blast from the past! But at :41, what kind of dance is Dick Clark doing? 🤣
huuuuuge '68 sound
Ozzy on bass....believe the JPaul Jones and Godley and Creme of 10cc were once in this band. I know it's John Osborne on bass.
Mike "Oz" Osborne - vocals, bass, not John
1968
