I have a lot of colors of gouache that my daughter sent me last Christmas ⛄ and I am going to dip into it again one day. It's student grade but I use M Graham Titanium White and it improves the consistency a lot. Beautiful ❤️ I love the look on the toned paper too 💖
The paint appears so creamy and easy to spread, as you said, the amount of water makes the difference. I love how it can be used to create different values easily. Your painting is gorgeous!!.❤
Gouache is a great medium and can be a challenge for experienced watercolor artists. But you provided some terrific tips to handles some of those challenges
I haven't touched gouache since school days might give it a try one of these days. I've been learning a lot with your videos, I am new to watercolors i am seeing a lot of improvement, still find them a bit chaotic and have a hard time controlling the amount of water I use and mixing the colors to the right tones, but improving. I do mainly digital because it's much cheaper, and a lot of your advice still applies to digital, I have improved a lot in both mediums. Thank you so much for these tutorials!
This was lovely. I’ve been wanting to try gouache for 2 years - even bought a nice set of 24 colors - but when I think about using it, I’m always intimidated and I go back to my known watercolors. This seems like a great beginner project for me to just jump into.

I found gauche quite tricky. I get this streaky, smeary, dense effect and miss the fluidity I get with watercolour. It's hard to know how much water to use with it to obtain that beautifully smooth, velvet effect.

It’s definitely different. The trick is to use as little water as possible
