    My uncle has my great grandmothers Thanksgiving Cactus. The cactus' name is Mary & she is over 80 years old. I have a cutting of hers my mom gave me.

    One of favorite and common plant is the snake plant. I water my about once a month. Very very easy.

    Thank you for this video! Lately I’ve been feeling like the plant community has been pretentious? And I feel like common varieties are often overlooked. And also, I love your makeup look here!

    • @wildfern
      @wildfern  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sometimes I get caught up with trendy and rare plants but then I start to feel like that too. It's not a competition. I will always love my "regular" houseplants

    • @jessalinnguyen1504
      @jessalinnguyen1504 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      wildfern yes! Exactly. I’m like a beginner plant mom but it’s overwhelming to see like all these recommendations of cool plants that are super pricey and high maintenance (so it can be even more overwhelming)!

    I just got a Thanksgiving cactus on "buy nothing" group on Facebook and I cannot believe how healthy and gorgeous it is. And pretty mature. It's one of my favorite plants I have. I keep it on top of my refrigerator its a bright kitchen but I live on an island in Washington so she'll have a dark gloomy winter.

      Also my local nurseries always have small but full plants for $5/6 like coffee plant, moonshine snake plant. I just got some mini orchids for $5. I got a huge neon Pothos for $13 that I split up into 4 plants. I like Grafted Cactus moon they're so cute and colorful. Also love parlor palm, small and full plants I've found for $5

    Yup, that's a Thanksgiving/Autumn cactus. I adore holiday cacti. They're beautiful and easy and their flowers are so beautiful.

      Yes!! The blooms are partly what got me into houseplants, I was always so mesmerized by them :)

    Great video! Some brilliant ideas for new plant mums 🌱 even if plants are common it doesn’t mean they aren’t beautiful and air cleaning and lovely to have in your home!!
    I’ve found it easy and cheap to purchase plants such as monstera, snake plant, spider plant, various ficus plants, cacti and succulents of a wide variety, parlour palm etc from supermarkets and the like here in the UK :)

    I totally agree with the fact that the plants showcased in your video are quite accessible, reasonably priced and relatively easy to care for. I have all of these plants with the exception of the Thanksgiving/Xmas Cactus but I do have the Easter Cactus which is likewise as lovely. It's enjoyable to watch plants grow in your care in addition to not becoming overwhelming spacewise. that makes smaller plants preferable. I very much enjoyed your video and it's presentation. Thanks for sharing.

    One plant I really love is 'dumb cane' or Dieffenbachia. Not sure how affordable they are since I got mine for free from a cutting off a plant we had in the office several years ago. These plants grow really well with not a lot of special care and are so easy to propagate. Plus the leaves are gorgeous. They grow big so add of variety.

    • @wildfern
      @wildfern  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes - I have a few. They are usually quite affordable :) I had struggled with mine a little but they are doing better now! Thanks so much for watching.

    Just a fun fact )

    This was a really helpful video, thank you! I'm excited to get a few of the plants you mentioned if I can. Just potted my peace lily today right before watching this. My favorite plants so far are bamboo and bonsai. Very easy to care for them.

    Spider mites infest plants when the plant is stressed... the plant will send out a stress scent that attracts them... Your rubber plant is probably getting spider mites because of the lack of light. They need a lot of light, I would move him under a grow light.

    Thanks for sharing these! Interested in getting one the cactus ones 🤔 I love pothos, snake plants, dracena, rubber tree, hoya (but I struggle with these) 🙃

      Vanessa Ledesma you’re welcome!! Yes the holiday cactus are so easy and amazing I love them! And for Hoya I water them hardly ever, if that helps at all. Thanks so much for watching :)
