Simon Hugo sounds like a wonder instrument. I’ve heard it in movies and games when it’s set in a sort of Egyptian or Arabic setting kinda? Definitely a winded instrument. Perhaps a sort of clarinet, or flute.
It's a winded chinese instrument called "Sheng" played in lower notes and with some reverb added. See "Wu Wei demonstrates the sheng" video in 0:47 and 2:35 and listen to the note being played.
Why blood still rocks and lives on? because they weren't focused on bullshit military/spec op nonsense! too much trying to be "realistic" these days, too much trying to please market and kids, too many "suits" around games ... Games like Blood had personality and gave 0fucks and that's why they are still remembered today

Nice quality but very lacking in quantity. Compare it to it's sibling Duke Nukem 3d in which every map had it's own unique theme.
