With collectables, you're dealing with people that are more emotionally driven, so you have the potential for irrelevant news to really drive sentiment. Also despite the buying opportunities, I'd rather park money in liquid stocks that pay a dividend. It's a hassle to resell boxes and have a ton of overhead, it feels better to just grab some stocks that move

I dont think this will have a long term effect on vintage/rl stuff. The uptick is people hoping or thinking this will affect it. Commander is unlike any other format. The casual players don't want these powerful cards in their playgroups because they feel they are unfun and too powerful. The subformat that could use them, CEDH, is very proxy friendly. The only way these cards would be needed is if WotC clamps down on the proxy usage for official sanctioned events. If they do, many CEDH groups have stated they will just run their own tournaments the way many vintage and legacy paper players do with proxies allowed. I think there will be a rise in vintage/rl stuff as people hope and think it will be a change, but it will eventually trend down to whatever trend it was going to do as if this event never happened.
I do not see how vintage can recover, Players are not interested, investors are not interested and nostalgia has run its course. the only reason the market is not tanking as that in general people are still holding on to their cards... as the holders age that will change and alas the big vintage crash will be with us
