thank you, i am thinking like an old timer and must document the history of these things because anything written or posted on the internet is so wrong these days. thansk
Its like the time where the start of a old western coal mining town started out as there is a town in northern dauphin county area next to fort indinatown gap military base and the old railbed you can always drive through before every hunting season starts as well
Morning from Gagetown, thanks for the memories, I worked for CNR putting in ribbon rail before the military, great video with the bikes and the staff, have a great day
good morning from the Kingdom. the cnr built and ran a lot of rail lines which are now replaced by the semi trucks hauling plus no one lives in small towns any more too thansk
This video was great, I love history and old equipment! What has been your best, prized find in the clean up around the Kingdom? I watch the latest video every night and can't wait for the next one..
thank you, the beech 18 airplane that was a water recovery that turned out to be the wrong plane was the best one and we hope to go find the correct one. thansk
Thanks for the local history lesson. My town was on the Old Colony RR. The rails were torn up in 1939. The railroad beds have been re-purposed into biking and bridle paths.
It was chilly willy here in western Pennsylvania this morning 43 on the yoyo scale. We did finally get eain after 3 weeks. Wind is absolutely annoying, I know how you feel
That’s amazing the bridge sank in the middle with no traffic on it ! I guess you’re quads are fuel injected not like when I was younger and it was gravity flow funny some things are considered modern but I still like points and carburetors and SAE wrenches but those days are gone except for my Tractors and my Crane ! Good evening from a rainy Cape Cod 🌧️ this was a really interesting history of your area. What kind of mining was done back in the day? This is a really cool video, thanks for your efforts Joey and Boss👍✌️🇺🇲
thank you, it was nickel, copper, zinc then tried gold mining in the end. the train hauled the supplies in and the ore concentrate south to be re-fined. thansk
Nice little trip down the tracks. Would be interesting areas to explore all over there I imagine with all the exploration work that’s been done over the years. Once the traffic quits it sure doesn’t take long for the trails to become overgrown again though. Even some of our close to home trails here that we traveled 8 years ago are impassible now.
yes lots of history here that only started in the late 1940 then the RR was built in 1950s. the wind trimming the tress closes trails pretty fast then things grow pretty good thansk
The early (first series) '55 chevy pickup trucks were the same as the '54s. The cool looking (second series) ones came out midyear 1955. The '56 is the same other than the fender emblem placement, both have the egg crate grille. for '57 truck is the same but has the flattened oval looking grille.
6/27/23 We had a nice cool breeze from the North here in the sucky State of Illinois. The problem with that is, it's bringing all the smoke down here from the fires in "The Great White North". 😢 Too bad it can't all blow out over the Atlantic to disperse!
yes or the climate change people who start the fire be punished and the gov should be on top of these fires and not let them burn. small fires are easy to put out compared tot he big ones. plus july 01 we have a new carbon tax to pay for driving our cars that make so much pollution, lol thansk
@@kingofobsolete4789 You know, that 'carbon tax' will just boost the retirement funds of the politicians that passed it, and never do a thing to clean up the air. The government should pay a "carbon tax" for not eliminating the fire hazards in the first place, except the government only has money, taken from working people. .
@@bluegrallis yes paying a carbon tax to drive to work while all these fires could have been put out when they were small but the gov did not want to spend the money. the rich get richer and we go broke. thansk
Hi Joey -- I enjoyed your video -- it was something a little different from your regular videos--I liked the history that you gave of the railway, and what happened to it all. And the video footage of your trip along the tracks was great. Thanks. Nice to see what it's like up there at the end of the world! Bummer that the railway is no longer, but I can appreciate the economic reasons. (although our gov't wastes money on more useless things all the time!)
thank you, our daily videos are about life up here and we will be doing more of these type of videos. sad to see things come to an end when the mine closes and no jobs. thansk
These tracks don't go (directly) to Thompson. They go straight South, pass by Pukatawagan, and Sherridon. Near Cranberry Portage, there is a junction leading off to the West will take you to Flin Flon, or keep going South on the main will bring you out at The Pas. From The Pas, you could head E-N-E which is the line that will take you past the spur that leads N-N-W up into Thompson from a junction at Sipiwesk. The Main continues East-Northeast to Gillam, Kettle Rapids, and Bird, after which the line begins to head pretty much straight North up to Churchill, Polar Bear Capital of Manitoba, if not Canada. So, taking the tracks out of Who-ville to get to Thompson could be done, but it would be about 5 times the distance of driving on the so-called "road" route.

I can’t believe someone hasn’t swiped that plaque on the bridge. If that stuff was down here in western Washington it would be covered with graffiti. Very interesting thanks.
Great video Joe,. Did the mining company close up shop because the ore ran out or did they move on to more profitable areas? Good thing you went out with two machines or that would have been a long slog back to The Kingdom. Thanks see ya tomorrow.
Hey Joey - Where do the rails end now? Last time I was by there they ended almost in your back yard. How far back did they get pulled up? I've been to Sheridan (the old Cambrian Hotel was still standing) and Puk, back when it was called the "Pukatwagon Flyer" - at 5 - 10 mph.
the rails were pulled up in 2013 as part of a tax dispute 6km south of the eldon lake road. the old hotel in sherridon was an early morning fire back in 2014 i think. they burn anything and everything. thansk
I like those kind of history lessons. Great job. Lots of good times I bet on those rail lines
