I loved how the Sports Festival didn’t give us a “clear winner.” You just get the sense that Bakugo, Todoroki, and Midoriya are incredibly strong with even more incredible potential as heroes. And yet, they each have their own hurdles to overcome. I also love how Todoroki didn’t just “get over” the effects of his trauma in one fight. His match with Midoriya was an important catalyst, but it doesn’t just erase years of abuse. He still has a lot to work through and I just love how his character was handled. He’s also genuinely a good kid. I was touched when I found out that the reason he didn’t visit his mom was because he thought the sight of him would cause her pain. He’s still pure-hearted in a sense, despite everything that’s happened. I also got to respect how Bakugo doesn’t just want to win, he wants to win the right way. This episode is often overlooked but it’s so good!
I love how Bakugo acts all tough but whenever someone asks if he's friends with Izuku or if they were good childhood friends, he never denies it. He just brushes the topic off and moves onto something else. Also, I love how Horikoshi went with a realistic approach here. Trauma doesn't vanish in the blink of an eye. Even if Shoto becomes comfortable with using his flames soon, it's not like his origin and emotions will suddenly vanish.
In regards to midnight (sexy bdsm lady) having to rip open her clothes to use her power, remember the outfits of heroes aren't only meant to help their powers but some of them are to limit and control them since some of the powers these people have can do more harm than good if just left alone. Imagine her on a mission and her power knocks out her colleagues unintentionally.
