Hello SCHAAF I also have a 500 cb and I have seen that you do not use the clutch to raise the gears, you have an auto shifter? Or do you just release the gas and engage the next gear? If so, are not you doing damage to the gearbox? Thanks for reading it you are a referent for me :)
I read about the issue and everyone agrees that the gearbox ends up getting damaged if you raise the gears without gearing ... that's why I ask, being the same bike.
Man Schaaf i must say, when i'm riding with friends on my old funduro i always feel the odd one out (because i'm on a crappy bike). But when i see you riding on a older bike and ripping true the corners you gave me hope that i not less of a motorcyclist the guys ripping around on mt09 cb600 and stuff. and when i'm riding now i notice that the other riders don't understand how i'm keeping up with them. it's not the bike that counts but the rider, that's the thing you thought me! and thanks for that
" I started to enter 'the zone'. Which means I was completely absorbed in what I was doing: hitting those downshifts quite well, fully trusting the Italian grippy tarmac, overdramatizing the bike's movements because of the CBs hyper-agile characteristics, and rapidly absorbing, reading, and interpreting my surroundings since I had zero road knowledge. All while feeling 100% relaxed. This is why I ride." I am so close to buying a motorbike again, and this channel is a good chunk of the reason!
Oh man Schaaf your videos are so... "Inmersing", it makes the watcher feel like he was there right now, I just woke up, preparing the stuff to go working ( Today from 10:00 to 22:00 ) a bit sad because Im on exams and I cant even ride my bike, working, studying for exams, etc... but your 15 min vid made me feel like Ive been outside ridding for a while, thanks for sharing your experiences and your awesome videos, keep the good work up m8!
Your more than a fair rider and in tune with your bike. I love the flat out in one gear bits where the revs rise as you lean over as the wheel radius changes! When my gixer 1000 does that I know I can spin it up as the grip comes back🤟
Hey SCHAAF... Another great video with some truly spectacular scenery and incredible riding. Was that your clutch slipping there a bit or was that something intentional?
Love your runs! Gives me the drive to push a little harder. Don't think I'll be running into those turns quite as fast though "yet". Finished Caf'n out my 85 K-100 last year. TYVM for the inspiration.
Great video and a pleasure to watch. The rides you do are amazing, not only are there brilliant roads but incredible scenery too. I have to watch them at least twice, once for the riding and road and again for the views. As Always Ride And Speed Safe.
Hello Schaaf , awesome video as always , keep up the good work , i got my cb 500 too and I'm absolutely enjoying it. I wanna do some touring with my friends this summer , can you recommend from your own experience some mountain passes/roads which are good in Austria , and a time when the traffic is not that intense ? As always keep up with these videos , they are really enjoyable and it's always good to see an experienced rider going all out !
time: June or September. Roads: just take a look at my RAW uploads from Austria. Almost every single nice road I've been on myself so far I've filmed and uploaded. There's always a link to Google Maps inside the description text! I'd love to recommend more but I'm actually lacking the experience myself! Have fun!!!
Do you think using the clutch for smooth acceleration is a bad habit? In corners if I want to give throttle I tend to pull in the clutch and use it to smooth out the acceleration because using just the throttle seems jerky to me, and dangerous when leaned over. It also helps if the revs have dropped the engine is lugging. I haven't had any problems with doing this up until now, then again I don't push it that much, but I've been told it's a bad habit.
Hi, looked past few video, video quality in a fog and low light,I think-you should check lens protection cover maybe he have micro scrached , and need to change
Ok. Video -"Ducati XDiavel S - YOU'RE IN FOR A SURPRISE! " 5m.40second. same like you use light filter. or record on film and afte record from cinema. Next “2017 Kawasaki Z900 ABS [RAW Onboard]”-all movies like a old monochrome cinema. When same 8.55m pass red Citroën he like a brown. if look. when viewed more. Even the sun, which appears afte 9min -not help
oceanx1995 thats the scariest feeling when youre riding in below freezing temps and have to put a foot down cuz you wanted to down shift like a boss instead of using the brakes lol
It's when you don't blip the throttle enough when downshifting while braking, which makes the wheel bounce or "hop". Schaaf does it on purpose though, because it's fun. :3
Hey, can you write somewhere what mods did you do to your CB500? I just got totally stock bike and wanted to somehow improve it. Ordered LED kits already for turning signals but was thinking what else is nice to do? What mods also for better riding comfort?
with steelflex line and sinter pads it works for riding like this. But as soon as you start braking hard you'll have hardcore fading after ~10 minutes. But on an unfamiliar road I have to keep it smooth instead of hard braking anyway :)
Pleasseeee fix it! It is very dangerous to happen mid-turn, plus, slipping like this under power is really destroying the it quickly - might break the engine. Really loved the video and want to see more of these. I was also thinking about the chatter - sorry for providing unwanted advice - but you can try to break harder and down shift at lower RPM - like hard break and really quick 1-2 down shifts just before you enter rather than consecutive downshifts right when you start breaking - but that's guesswork and you know your bike better than me. Keep 'em coming! PS Loved the scenery and it was EXTREMELY delightful and helpful that you posted the route - awesome!
happen't mid-turn a couple of times already, I can't see the danger and no I won't break harder on public roads, I need the smoothness as my safety reserve. Thanks for the advice!
now: SCHAAF afterwards: MotoGP! Happy Sunday!
Here's my source of inspiration: th-cam.com/video/roKCZfE9JJ4/w-d-xo.html

Alfre Martonini Search for clutchless shifting and you will find your answers :)
I read about the issue and everyone agrees that the gearbox ends up getting damaged if you raise the gears without gearing ... that's why I ask, being the same bike.
You have been reading weird stuff then. Clutch less shifting on motorcycles is perfectly fine.
Schaaf How are you not scared to scrape??? It can throw you off the bike...
I told myself I wouldn't go riding today because I have other things I need to do. *Watches Schaaf video*......I'll get my leathers.
GOOD MAN!

very happy to read this!! Thank you! I'm confident you won't regret it!
Watching your videos always makes me want to go outside and improve my riding skills!
good!

how much that windshield helps?
and whats that about vibrations on braking?
Just so much fun taking in everything you and your country has to offer, great roads and scenery, Scrapping around corners, epic.
thanks Wozza
Hey SCHAAF... Another great video with some truly spectacular scenery and incredible riding. Was that your clutch slipping there a bit or was that something intentional?
intentionally releasing it too early and fast
2:46 when you feel the pressure on the back and cannot deal with it anymore :D
ehehehe :D
Love your runs! Gives me the drive to push a little harder. Don't think I'll be running into those turns quite as fast though "yet". Finished Caf'n out my 85 K-100 last year. TYVM for the inspiration.
take your time and don't rush things :)
i could listen to that bubbling at low rpm all day long.. I could even fall asleep to it
:D :D
Schaaf I love watching your videos, inspiring and you make me smile. Amazing views and amazing riding. Ride safe buddy :)
thanks Chris!!
Great video and a pleasure to watch. The rides you do are amazing, not only are there brilliant roads but incredible scenery too. I have to watch them at least twice, once for the riding and road and again for the views. As Always Ride And Speed Safe.

Another cool vid bud , proving if you can ride you can ride
thanks Mr Fish!
you sir are a legend! i have an er6n and sounds very similar to your cb
true! Thanks man!
Yes,mine is a versys 2007 and the sound is pretty close.the difference is I m much more fast than Monsieur Shaaf...hi.hi.hi!
have you had it re mapped, the popping on roll off is awesome
lol
Schaaf: The Passo Rolle promoter, it's gonna be crowded this summer..
it's always crowded in the summer. June or September is the better time to ride over there
i just got myself a versys 650A and i will swear an oath to not buy a different bike until i mastered it like you did your cb500
wahnsinns fahrt!!
that is a daring but excellent promise to yourself!

yes I'd call it a bad habit too but as long as it works safely for you why not
Is the CB getting a bit of wear in the transmission? It popped out of gear A LOT in this video.
it is, but mainly it was because I was using a different kind of engine oil
Hi, looked past few video, video quality in a fog and low light,I think-you should check lens protection cover maybe he have micro scrached , and need to change
what?
Ok.

movies like a old monochrome cinema.
When same 8.55m pass red Citroën he like a brown. if look. when viewed more. Even the sun, which
appears afte 9min -not help
I don't understand
Hi Schaaf, when did you shoot the video ? (day, month, time) I would like to know, because traffic was very light ...
mid-September, around noon
What is the juddering at corner entry? My first thought was ABS but thats not the case unless its aftermarket.
oceanx1995 Hopping/chattering of the rear wheel because of heavy downshifting.
oceanx1995 thats the scariest feeling when youre riding in below freezing temps and have to put a foot down cuz you wanted to down shift like a boss instead of using the brakes lol
thanks +Ja jeweet

Bavarian Banshee yea sometimes i dont bleep enough im still in noobz training lol

there you go: th-cam.com/video/AcsQ8jDqGbU/w-d-xo.html
I cant blame ya, If i were to live near that place I'd be ridding that road often times.
Me too
Pleased to see that you've ditched all those modern bikes and you're back on your trusty CB which clearly can't be beaten :-)
I haven't ditched the CB and neither modern bikes :)
Erstmal dein Video angucken. Moto GP verschiebt sich ja wieder. Regen in Katar, unglaublich.
aber spannend war's dann noch :)
+Schaaf jop. Schade das Zarco gecrasht ist. Hätte gerne gesehen ob er vorne geblieben wäre.
Oh man seriously what a rush! And that ABS kicking in before those hairpins, damn! :D
;)
;3
ABS ? What ABS ?
great ride! how is the performance of the cb's brakes on a run like this?
with steelflex line and sinter pads it works for riding like this. But as soon as you start braking hard you'll have hardcore fading after ~10 minutes. But on an unfamiliar road I have to keep it smooth instead of hard braking anyway :)
You are start from ....? and end in....?
Maaan the roads you ride make me so jealous.
me too
What's the vibration when changing down the gears, is it just because you're braking so hard?
because of changing into first too abruptly
You push that little bike to the limits! I love it, I wish I had balls as big as yours. I don't think I'd ever have the courage to ride like you.
Incredibly amazing, divine, simply slamming
thank you!!
why do you have a finger on the clutch?(you do clutchless)
because I like symmetry
What's this at 4:42? It is like slipping out of gear, clutch? or something? I saw it I think for the second time by now.
slipping out of gear

On a scale of 1/10, how much do you like the CB500? I am considering buying one as a project bike!
problably 9/10 because it hasnt a function to stop the time and let him ride as long as he wants
11/10 obviously
What's the scraping sound then he turns? :D
that's my guardian angel grinding his teeth
Basilisk foot pegs :)
Epic reply Schaaf! Haha :D

I know this road - It's the A725 just outside Glasgow!
Hamish McPenguin Its in Italy...
lol
love your riding style🖒 where you fix the audio recorder? 👊✊🏍💨
thanks!
in his backpack:)
Too bad the semi-trailer truck drivers can't enjoy this amazing road! 😄
Shake harder boy for this awesome video ❤️
ahahaha I'm afraid they'll have to let go those trailers first :D

merci
That wheel hop..
Sounds really good! Love your Videos ;)
thanks man!!
You are the Boss!
thanks
THUMBS UP !! Why spend money on a Street Triple when you can have so much fun on THIS !! :))
well I'd still take the Street Triple too if you don't mind ;)
awesome! "peacefully bubbling away" :D :D :D
:D :D :D

you should def make a sticker like "footpegs are wear items"
5.5 footpegs / 100km
loric loppi would buy :)
Two words man.. FK BRUTALLLLL
\m/ Ride in peace
thanks mate!!
Why does this road remind me of a Mario cart circuit?
good question!
Schaaf i know the track it reminds me of too. Moo moo meadows.
AHAHAHAHAHA I know this one very well! Nice one :D
You are crazy!!!!
why? Could you be more specific?
Your conduction is amazing, you touch the floor all time!!! My English is very bad, and my expression too. I,m from Spain.;);)
first you call me crazy then amazing? What the?!?!
Dieser Sound :)
Charakter ;)
Haha
F**K, this got me high.. Nice one mate... I ride a Duke 390. check it out on my channel. But definitely not the pro level riding as you :)
thanks mate
You're insane... :)
doesn't feel like that to me :)
I wonder how many bikers collide with cows per year. ^^'
good question! All I know is that those cows are worth quite a lot of money. 5 times more than my bike, no joke.
Und fast kein Verkehr, sauber ;D
aber voll!! :)
So derortig geil, aahhh
I glaub dei geilstes Video bisher.
i find ah fost! Geht owa in der Tonart weiter bei de RAWtalias ;) Und i glaub, es kommen no ca. 10
