- TGIF is Google's weekly all-staff meeting. This video was shot in December, 1999 and gives a feel for how the meetings ran for the first year or so. For more on Google's early days, read my book (available 7/12/11): amzn.to/i3VA4v

Can u imagine the feeling of working there and not realizing how important your job would become in the future?
thier friendship needs to be admired.. they have great respect for each other, and that is what have made Google growing!!
Vatsal Singh Evil Google evil hates free speech
Not quite. Larry is strict 2 his principles & doesn't compromise. He didn't speak 2 Sergy 4 some time in 2013 following the mistress scandal.
Vatsal Singh: you're another indian who admires American billionaires as if they give a damn about India's difficulties. No wonder you arseholes elected the fascist Modi as leader of your nation who did the Gujerat riots.
Kissing the backside of billionaires will not going make your country rich, if anything, because they're economic terrorists - they will impoverish your country even more.
The good old days. when geeks were just people with wrong size fitting clothes that liked pc's.
***** but why
***** aaah I see. Judging by your TH-cam comments on other channels you are quote literally a waste of eveybodies time.
Ahh yeah may be it is very new to him at young age he didn't wear it properly
@Eric Schickelgruber aus Linz Why for what no worries...
I'm fairly sure nobody between 1993 and 2001 could wear clothes that fit them.
I am employee # 33 and the lucky person who cleaned up all that silly string and the party remnants (huge mess) left behind from that TGIF.
Random tid bit: Silly string is very difficult to remove from a plastic ball when it has been given the time to completely dry. It takes warm water, paper towels and *time*. Which is why we had several balls with silly string on them for years. Literally...
Doug - thank you. You've given me goosebumps.
To Yoshka!!!
It's been 10 years, are you here?
@@FM-xz9fg i dont think he continue haha
Bro, Are you actually alive now ?
can't agree more
Angella Frische: it would be poetic justice if you were one of the 11,000 employees who are unceremoniously and digitally dismissed by Google.
My first time actually watching and listening to them. From all the worship of them, I expected more impressive voices and ability to speak in public more clearly. If they had taken a regular corporate route, they would not have become CEOs! This should give everyone who doubts themselves confidence, that substance is more important than style! :-)
John Brennick They became so evil
U literally have escalated my self-confidence. I am normally very concerned about my ability 2 speak in public, & am working my b*tt off 2 improve it.
@@elpeopuru3003 really
That's why I love youtube, finding old videos and their vibes😊
a time machine to the past. this is inspiring.
The love. The passion. The oversized tees. The 90s. The real nerd culture. All of this is gone on modern Google.
Now it’s become corporate and lacks a heart.
Dockers ⚓
Old & beautiful moment..real backbone of Google 👍😀
Dammit I should have dropped out of high school and started running errands in that office in '99.
Google's chilled company culture has been around since then! Good on them!
That laptop is very thin for 1999, still thin in today's standards.
Damn, exactly what I thought (and I'm from 7 years into the future compared to your response - and it's still as thin as today's laptops). In fact, it's so thin for the time that it did make me wonder if it's a full-fledged laptop at all...
Thank you for this birthday..
😲😲🙌🙌🙌🤜🤛🙌🙌🙌
That indian guy with a blue shirt you see at @3:31 built the actual information retrieval system for google that is still now used today. I wish I could remember his name.
Koun he ye?

Amit sir
Public speaking hadn’t been invented yet.
This is amazing, once upon a time all googlers could fit into an office floor and introducing new googlers took less than 5 minutes.
Such a cool homestyle to this video.
"do not despise the days of humble beginnings"
It was fun to see this
Man... even w/o all the perks, I'd still love to work with, and be a part of, this team.
Google's a cool place to work at since the beginning.
This video is also known as, "These are the millionaires at Google"
my dad worked there haha i remember jumping on those blow up balls when i was a baby.
Graham Epstein really
That's sick
Dude you must be loaded now
So did he get stock options?
You remember being a baby? That's more awesome
The Good old days, when everything was normal, you can sit next other person without any problem and American pie was trendig topic..
Office is the one. Thank you! i need it.
some historic footage right here...i dont think any of them knew just how big google would get either
jhofay or how evil
They did an excellent job with their vision :) I hope we can do the same with ours :) The entire atmosphere seems so familiar, just like so many other start-ups.
Their companies stock price are very hight this shows how this companies stock raised by there team hardwork such a great company
wow so many good moments, 4:25 Susan Wojcicki holding a baby (now CEO of youtube) that baby is probably 22 years old now! the guy in red shirt forget his name but he's a superstar javascript/react dev IIRC and Sergey Brin with the spray. Takes me back to one of his recent demos where he parachuted into a Google demo.
Happy 25 to Google too 🎉
Great video
I bet most of these guys are now millionaires, except a few smartasses who left the company early. They must be absolutely kicking themselves by now.
lol
Billionaires*
Thank you and where is my birthday gift? Appreciated again! ^^
Happy birthday Larry
Dayum. What a story. From a small startup to a Global Behemoth.
This is what is inspiring
really nice
15 years later PowerPoint is just as stale and dry as today
lol everyone is using Google docs now
Google didn't make PowerPoint dumbass
@@caillouhoodvines8747 His comment has no implication that Google made PPT. What do you mean?
@@QuanTrietLOL this is a Google video so it would only make sense they're talking about a Google product
@@caillouhoodvines8747 Uhm I don't think so. It can be about what the commenter want. Anyway, the arguement is pretty pointless so I won't contest
@alternativeangle All jokes aside, the person you are referring to in the red plaid checkered shirt at 4:23 is Salar Kamangar who is Senior Vic President of TH-cam. Everybody looks so young. Larry, Sergey, Craig Silverstein (when he still had hair!) Ben Gomes, Susan. Urs (I thought I saw him in there somewhere). Where's Marissa Mayer? The video was taken is December 1999 and she was hired in June 1999.
Larry wearing a shirt with a collar at work? This can't be real.
What I wouldn't do to know the thrill of working in a start-up company of which you know will be succesfull and rollin' in cash. The dot-com boom in the 90s wasn't as favorable of others.
Very pre-The Office ✨
Way back in 1999,
This is the culture....
So,
It's cool...
1 trillion dollars in a single room and not a Gucci belt in sight.
WOW.. NERDVILLE!
😁
Party like it's 1999!!!!!
Revolutionary change......... Wow
Very interesting
was thinking the same thing
It’s crazy to think this company today makes $160 billion a year 🤯
World wonders...😱
@Phleem1 yes we do
Yes
@LangaArchitects where?
That's an incredibly thin laptop for 1999!
What about now?
ok 1:27 was pretty wholesome
4:31 Even that dog is rich
Ur active?
WTF...!!! Larry and Sergei are humans like us...!! Wow.
@alternativeangle lol. but i cant believe you watched the whole video to get to that
Larry is so lovable baby child
You're sick.
I see B.J Novak!
Sergey was so cute :)
and this is why i'm not google employee number 33...
@Phleem1 Is that the dog? The dog didn't like the silly string I think.
wow!!!
@0.34 oh see, steve jobs was one of the early employees of google..interesting
Am I the only one seeing Steve Jobs holding a beer in his freakin hand??? pause at 0:32
Is that really him?
@@yaozuo3340 no
2020?
Those 2 geeks in the front would become some of the wealthiest humans today.
4:26 susan😤😤
How many of you are millionaires now? I too, hope to have 1 million dollars some day
Everyone in this video is now a billionaire.
you mean these robots drink beer?
same as my company today.....
where will i be in 12 years ?.....who knows
Itay Beeri where is it at now
x2
Are you alive man? The time has come.
Doesn't look as fun as I'd imagined. Not to mention how hyper-awkward almost everyone looks there. Googlers! You are amongst your kin! Be free! Raise your head! Yes, that includes the gaze of your eyes...
What a legendary person s
That laptop looks remarkably modern for 1999...
Are you guys hiding future technology given to you by aliens?
Does Google still have huge dogs, babies, and beer at all the birthday celebrations?
Amazing how these lovable nerds have become an EMPIRE! keep up the good work Google--don't be evil like APPL!
Wilton Guzman They became evil! It's too late!!
wtf that laptop very thin. time traveler detected
LOL this was way before CIA and Google became partners.
Shouldn't this make for atleast a million dollar NFT ?
Is Marissa Mayer in that group? I am trying to spot her...
Who see in 2022 this is might only indian people 😇
Oh wow its Larry Page's birthday party
larry style )good boy), brin )bad boy)
3:34 that guy looks like Steve Jobs
U r a great observer! The hair & complexion, especially.
It is
Jim Reese
alien technology use now confirmed by google
3:33 messi also was there
@ubercode what can i say... some people can barely speak one languge.. some others have more ways to express!
So strange, how a handful of people work like a family and start building something. When company becomes a beast, lots of others join the company. Then all it becomes is a political playground where all people care about is promotions and climbing the corporate ladder.
Yea, it’s hard to not be jealous of the atmosphere they had. Something about being an internet company in the 90s and early 2000s was so hopeful and innocent. Now that space is better described as cutthroat.
Google Analytics < ChatGPT
Millennium bug isn't a priority here @!

Does Google still have huge dogs, babies, and Heineken at all the birthday celebrations?

I was thinking the same... late 90s laptops were bulky and clumsy
Google's real motto: We want your money and your private data while keeping you vulnerable to our unneeded services.
4:24 the girl holding a baby is Susan Wojcicki, isn't her?
Hal yes
Such an evil woman
@@elpeopuru3003 why do u think so?
gjenc p Because she hates free speech, censors the internet and demonetized non-corporate content creators and clearly wants to do away with the First Amendment.
How many people do you guys notice here besides Larry and Sergey. I think I've identified Paul Bucheit
And Susan Wojcicki, wow she was so thin
My brother Howard Gobioff makes an appearance at bout 3:27. I'd love to find more video of him.
@@gonzonia oh wow, I googled him and sorry for your loss. Did he tell you any fun anecdotes during that period of time at Google?
@@adamlee9347 not really. He used to talk about it the perks (massage, food, candy,). I don’t recall specific stories though.
How much do you want to bet that to them, TGIF means “Thank Google It’s Friday”?
TGIF - Thank Google for Internet Freedom!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (except in china lol)
Navid Behroozi Thank Google for no longer... They hate freedom under Trump!!!!
Lisa Cindy I got it
Haha so in 99, Sergey got him a chair hehhe
