please note that not every strong bad email has a commentary track, and some sbemails have multiple. here is the full list of episodes that have commentary tracks: www.hrwiki.org/...
It was on autoplay when I woke up lol. Thanks for uploading these. I started falling asleep to sbemails about a year ago during a bad break up, but a year of ddr and sbemails later I have a new gf and I'm a lot better. Nostalgia is the perfect lullaby.
I love that whenever the Brothers Chaps have Missy record commentary, she improvises new facts (like "Strong Mad is my favorite brother" or "I don't have any legs") and Mike and Matt react in real time.
I mean, to be fair, Marzipan did compliment Strong Mad's stack of VHS tapes in "Virus" and he's a member of Cool Tapes alongside her, so she definitely does see him as a fairly good friend at the very least.
@@roxygaming5968 that, plus when we see them at Club Technochocolate, she tells him "Then let me bust some fresh not hanging out with you." Which S S earned by the pooper stuff he said to her, but that's still not something you say to your favorite Strong.
3:56:36 this is a super interesting moment where matt does an impression of strong bad and then slowly fades into the actual strong bad voice, i dont think ive ever heard a voice actor accidentally impersonate their own voice before lol
i used to literally fall asleep to the sbemail DVDs playing on my PS2 with the commentaries on like almost every night for a period of my teenage years. thank you for bringing that back to me as a guy who now falls asleep to youtube videos
I love how much of the cartoons end up just being references to random things that made them laugh/that they remember from when they were growing up together. It really shows that they never set out to make some huge thing, they just made stuff that made themselves laugh and hoped other people found it funny too.
Some of the most successful artists and creators don't make art to try and appeal to a certain demographic. They make what they want to see/what they find funny/what they find inspiring, etc. and are able to put more passion, creativity, and heart into it as a result. That's what Mike and Matt did with Homestar Runner and it shows.
This attitude of theirs also explains why they never sold out (despite opportunities to do so). They were perfectly happy with what they had. They didn't need truckloads of filthy stinking money as long as they kept complete control over their show and characters. They were happy with creative control! It was enough! ....truckloads of filthy stinking money...
It's very fun to me that I never can even FATHOM Matt doing the voices of the characters in the cartoons. Even at the beginning of Part-Time Job when Mike says "Surprise me," indicating he wants to be surprised with which voice Matt is doing, I can never picture it as not being "Strong Bad or Coach Z drops in for a visit to do the commentary tracks," like they're real people.
man, i bought the complete collection of dvds 1-200 specifically so i could get at this content. i dont regret buying the dvds cause i love that they are still making homestar content and i want to support them, but wowee am i glad this is available for me and everyone else. its too good to keep exclusive
I really appreciate how the characters went out of their way to contribute to the commentary. Very professional. I also think it’s interesting to hear what everything is a reference too. There are way more references to classic tv/movies than I expected
13:13 this whole interaction, and when mike quietly repeats "holy cramp" i SPIT laughing 53:58 nothing like running your hand up and down those flimsy plastic keys while it was still turned off. nos tal juh 2:08:57 the guitar. oh man. also "we're all a family here at strong bad email" 2:47:10 two strong sads!
Genuinely like that they somehow turned a commentary into just like..more of the same content Homestar runner is with jokes and shit. Barely ever actually give background or insight on the email they are talking about. Just anecdotes about their lives. I love it so much lmao
This is so exciting! I watched these all the time and they shaped so much of my humor and personality as a kid. I played all the games too. This made me so happy too see. Hope y’all are doing well, You guys are awesome :)
Ooh, very indeed nice. Thanks for this, I thought I was never gonna hear these again as I didn't personally own a copy of the DVDs and they won't ship 'em to where I live.
Homestar Runner is still one of the best online cartoons of classic Internet to modern Internet. I could listen to Mike and Matt and these characters always
6:58:38 taking a joke at video game adaptation cartoons by using a text based adventure and the characters are just the words with legs and arms and faces is so funny
oh this will be fun to watch. I have the DVDs but it's a pain putting them in and manually watching each cartoon with comment'ry on, so I miss the good jokes!
As the user who transcribed the commentaries for Bike Thief and Your Edge on HRWiki, I have two questions: 6:45:22: We'll get all our WHAT in line? 8:00:40: My new WHO impression?
6:03:07 - Oh, you mean Brown Boats? Did you like Brown Boats? ...No? Oh, it's so cool! 6:18:08 - Gwey buwgers, man. Cooked meat is meant to be gwey! It's the way it's been since the dawn of Man!
I may be the only person bothered by this, but @1:15:28 they reference several fictional characters with pushbrooms, yet fail to mention the guy with the pushbroom from the Dr J vs Larry Bird video game they referenced earlier in the SAME VIDEO!!! Ok I feel better now... 😅
this was an insane amount of work. thank you for your patience.
Thank you so much

It’s a fucking amazing piece of work. Thank you man.
@@EvanClue I hear there are commentaries in 50 Greatest Hits. Why isn't it in this video compilation?

I'm starting to see this for sleep too. So comfy.
I love how little they talk about the emails on some of these

marzipan's little song during the long pants email absolutely killed me
