I have to say I did consider getting a rake of these, problem was Leopard Street _could_ run a full rake (I think) the station could (when its build!) manage a pair of twinsets and the observation and a loco.. but I'd _want_ the lot, I mean likely harder to get hold of in future.. and at the time information about what the things had (e.g. lighting?) was rocking horse poo.. appreciate the video, actually wishing I had pulled the trigger. would have "required" an A4 as well of course and a suitable bribe for my better half.. heck the coaches could have ended up the cheapest way. They do look very nice.. could I _in theory_ make some? possibly.. could I paint them that well? no idea, probably not, and to be honest for a one off rake I'm not sure I can be bothered.. may well be placing an order though as for train length.. not many can run full length rakes, or have stations that can cope, and many years back I have the "tourist rake" as a twinset and a brake and that was it, looked ok
@@aleopardstail Hello, Thank you for watching. The main purpose of this video was to address some comments but, most importantly say that with one modification you can run two 5 car sets being two arctic pairs and one observation car or baggage van. As long as you swap the shared bogie over to either Coach H (Brake third) from coach G or from Coach E to Coach F (Kitchen third) you it is possible to run two rakes of 4/5. Oh and swap the orientation of the sliding coupling for the shared bogie. And then you can still run a full rake too. One rake would be Brake, open 3rd, kitchen and open first and observation car and the other rake, Brake, open first, Kitchen and then open 3rd and either a baggage coach or additional observation car. So there would be potential for you to run two shorter rakes and own the full set. The reason why I suggest people don’t hang around and get them when they can is I’m afraid people on eBay or second hand will try and over charge people for these coaches. Much like what happened with the purple and west countries for the platinum jubilee. I know retailers have these cheaper than hornby so I would advise shopping around but if you should pull the trigger please do it at a rate you can afford. I know it’s probably teaching a nun to suck eggs but I wouldn’t want to encourage any rash decisions. I hope you can acquire a set of these coaches at a fair price too. Regards, Ross P.S if you want a quick short rake I recommend pack R20223 and R20226 (I think) that’s coaches A&B brake third and kitchen 3rd with coaches G and H open third and brake third. Then R20227 observation car. Then you can acquire the open first pair (R20224 Coaches C&D) and additional open third and kitchen third (R20225 and coaches E&F) when you can justify the expense.
@@charlescarmichael1 Yes definitely, if they could get an accurate representation of the silver jubilee sets both 7 and 8 car formats I’d definitely pre order those. Fingers crossed they do re release these in future as they’re extremely good. And to be honest after bachmann LNWR coach announcement I’d say very good value for money. Thanks for watching, Ross
@@rossnation8092 Absolutely, not sure where Bachmann were coming from with those prices, but £75 per coach isn't all that bad. However, Hornby still have a lot to learn about delivering items to retailers. I ended up having 3 deliveries from the same place due to the coaches arriving on different days, will be 4 once the observation coach arrives 😀.
Regarding the price of these two coach packs to buy the eight coaches plus the observation car is £680.The problem it looks so much is all four packs have been released all at the same time so if you want the four packs beforevthey sell out you have to buy them all together If they had released the packs a couple of monthsxapart you would be paying £150 per pack so in total you are havinfmg to pay£150 retail without any discount dmso it works out the coaches are roughly £75 each which i dont think is that nad when other ompanies are releasing coaches abovrmethat price without the level of detail and lighting. The problem is your having to fork out for all four together to gaurantee getting the full rake.
@@andrewmeah3082 Exactly, when Bachman is charging up to £110 for a single 8 wheel bogie coach a similar 9 coach train would be £990. My price is what I paid using my Hornby discount points £133.03 per arctic set and £67 for observation car. But yes the full set would be £680. Many retailers will have these cheaper than the £150RRP. I’ve seen some at £129.99 (cheaper that what I paid).
