  • This is the knot used by Corporal Desmond Doss when he earned the Medal Of Honor. It's a version of a bowline.

Thank you for sharing the double bowline not. Several times after the movie was released, I tried to find out how Doss tied the knot. I believe you have discovered it. Doss was a Great Man!

What a true hero. Is this the first in a series of "knots of historical significance"?

I'd really have to mess with knots every day for hours to get as good as you in application of knots... now to use them in combat conditions knowing how to use knots could be a matter of life and death, and being clever on the fly with knots like that? Pretty fucking impressive

I do a bowline on a bight for legs and an alpine loop for the torso on my kids.

I cringed every time to said "bow line". Good video though.

Amazing story. How about a video on setting up a flag pole with a rope. Is it called a haylyard or something?

First class, you made a similar knot on your kid a while back.
Why not mention that way of tying a rescue knot?
    Which one is preferred?

Here is a similar harness, but I think 'cleaner' and even more secure: th-cam.com/video/6EyfYyJkZss/w-d-xo.html

I certainly don't think there's any valor in fighting in wars that either we should not have been in or we were on the wrong side.
