It's important to note that it is much easier to get a pet bird to eat sprouts when they are started at a young age. Getting a bird from a pet store where all they get fed are seeds make it very difficult then to get the bird to eat sprouts when they are brought home.
i thought for some reason that one had to get a mix of grains, legumes, seeds and such that was specifically labelled for pet birds. I didn't realize for a long time that one can just use those ingrdients marketed towards people, I guess.

You can do either. Its easier to buy a mix but more affordable to mix your own.

Hi, if there is a sprout tail then yes. Also they can eat it soaked without the tail.
