I was just searching through the Mario Kart category on TH-cam and I got blasted with memories... Seriously, I've seen these a long time ago and they always interested me. I didn't expect to see this again.
TAS: Tool Assisted Speedrun Purpose: To see who can make the most efficient and fastest input record to speedrun a game. TAF: Tool Assisted Freerun Purpose: To see who can make the sickest and coolest tricks with a input record to stunt/trick on a game.
Just because it's TAS doesn't mean it's the fastest possible. I could make a TAS right now in a game where the character just leaps off the map to their death.
If we traveled to the future, there could theoretically be emulations of the Wii U and Nintendo Switch, so we would know the exact inputs for a theoretically perfect run. If somebody could master imitating those inputs, we could have a mew2king successor, but twice as powerful.
