In this video we’ll explain you how to disassemble a 2CV so you can rebuild/replace the chassis.
In this informative video series, we guide you through the process of disassembling a 2CV and demonstrate how to rebuild or replace the chassis. Join us as we share our knowledge and provide a rough guideline for restoring your own car.
To illustrate the process, we filmed the step-by-step replacement and rebuilding of the rolling chassis on one of our employee's cars. Due to budget constraints, certain decisions were made, such as retaining the engine and gearbox, which were in good condition. However, for the purpose of this video, we have temporarily remounted the bodywork, which was restored afterward.

Dans cette vidéo, nous te montrons comment assembler ta 2CV. Nous commencerons avec un châssis vide et à la fin, tu auras une voiture roulante !
Nous avons filmé le processus de remplacement et de reconstruction du châssis roulant sur une voiture d'un employé. Certaines décisions ont été prises en raison du budget du projet. Par exemple, nous savions que le moteur et la boîte de vitesses étaient en bon état et nous ne l'avons pas fait remplacé. Dans ce cas, nous avons remonté la carrosserie pour la vidéo. Ceci a été restauré après.
Cette vidéo est un guide indicatif lorsque tu veux reconstruire ta voiture. Nous avons construit cette voiture pendant un week-end avec notre savoir-faire nous aimons partager nos connaissances avec toi.

This car was rebuild after recording this video. So the body has been welded and painted afterwards. We just finished the car for this video to show you how everything will fit.
We've recorded this video in 3 days with 2 mechanics and 1 camera guy.

This should be recommended viewing for everyone thinking of buying a 2CV. It so clearly shows how so many systems work, and how to access them.
Magnifique travail très professionnelle , je pensais que la 2CV était simple a démonter , remonter . Maintenant a la vue des pièces multiples je vois que c est quand même assez complexe et qu' il faut laisser ce travaille a des Pros pour une reconstruction complète du châssis pour être sur de ne rien oublier. Great video Burton. A good quality new chassis costs about 1200 euros, a brand new body shell about 5000 euros (best one is made by MCC using original Citroen tooling). So, 6200 euros will give you a good basis for a long lasting , top quality 2cv restoration 🙂

Dans les années 80, on récupérait des 2cv pour faire nos apprentissages mécanique, on enlevait la carrosserie pour en faire des "buggys". Les gens nous les donnaient!
Une a fini avec 2 moteurs, des pneus avant de tracteur pour ne plus avoir besoin de les gonfler car très rigides.
Évidemment maintenant ça fait un peu mal de voir la rareté de ces excellentes voitures et de se dire qu'on en a détruit...

d'un côté, les 2cv les plus recherchées sont celles à partir de 1982 (2cv6 avec freins à disques et carburateur moderne), donc avoir détruit quelques plus anciennes, ce n'est pas trop grave...

This really good. I wish I had been able to see this when I replaced the chassis of our first 2CV in 1991. I used a repaired Dyanne chassis as a replacement. The 2nd time I did it with another car in 1998 I used a galvanised chassis. All the work was done in a 10X8 garden shed and our driveway. The 3rd time was to mount a restored body on the galvanised chassis. I had got quite good at it by then. Love the little cars, such fun to drive.
I did much of the work using 2nd hand parts but Andy Spares in Reading UK were my source of new bits.
I also used ECAS and 2CV City for parts as well.

Thanks for a very useful video. I have just replaced the frame on my Charleston. I have Replaced frames on a couple of 2cvs, but this time I could not remember (Is it possible?????) how the brakepipe from the rear was going into the engine compartment. The answer I found here in this video. NICE!!!

It looks like the replacement suspension cylinders will be fixed in place. Originally, didn't they move forward and back on helical springs?
no, the suspension pots was always fixed, but older 2cv's with inertial absorbers+ friction dampers had a internal spring interaction between forward and backward wheels, but on the modern 2cv's with hydraulic shoks, no interaction...
What are the differences between the car, and the pick up, or are they basically the same regarding rebuilding
Wouldn't this have been a good time to strip the suspension arms from the axle and check the bearings?
Citroen didn't use much grease on those taper roller bearings...

Yes. Another 2CV specialist in the Netherlands has done this, but it is expensive.

Los amortiguadores se colocan después de regular la altura, cuando el auto está sobre sus ruedas y con el peso total de sus partes armadas; éste quedó bajo. Hay varios detalles que se pueden mejorar. Con menos circo y más sentido común.

Never use bituminous protection (will rust underneath), use wax or better mike sanders grease
On the contrary, a friend sold his very early 80" Land Rover a few years ago, the buyer carried out an internal inspection of the galvanised box chassis with a camera probe and it was in perfect rust free condition.

Pour.les cylindres piston culasses trouve une casse moto et récupère tout ça tu c est la moto des gendarmes ca monte niquelle et tu te retrouve avec une 2cv 1200cc mais pose la par terre sinon tu va te faire peur tellement ca marche regarde sur you tub mon pote en 2cv bmw
n'importe quoi, un moteur de 2cv n'a rien à voir avec le moteur de moto BMW, impossible d'adapter les cylindres de BMW 1200 qui ont des pistons de 10cm de diamètre (74mm sur 2cv 602cc)!!!, le carter moteur de la 2cv est beaucoup trop petit...On peut monter un moteur de moto BMW pour la course, oui, mais interdit de rouler sur route avec ça...Par contre on peut modifier le moteur 602cc et 29cv pour le passer à 652cc et 35cv DIN, ça c'est relativement simple (remplacement pistons , cylindres et culasses), voir même avec un arbre à cames plus agressif (40-45cv), mais faut que le vilebrequin soit comme neuf et monter un radiateur d'huile plus grand si arbre à cames performance...
Ha l origine Citroën avait fabriqué c est voitures pour les paysans pour qui puisse aller partout sans trop dépenser mais aujourd'hui tout le monde en veux une pour faire sont hot rod mad in france juste pour la préparation moteur des cylindres culasses pistons bmw de la moto celle des gendarmes en France on compte les rabaisser lui monter de belle jantes et de plus gros frein la rabaisser il y a rien de plus simple quant on connaît sont principe de fonctionnement une peintures bad ass et sur autoroute y en a qui vont être.surprit elle ne pàisse que 650 kilo donc rien que d arriver a 100 ch ça devrait etre bien mais honnêtement j'espère bien plus en faire un slippeur la voiture dont tu te douterait jamais de quoi elle et capable vous vous avait la golf mais bien trop chere l avantage avec 2cv c est que encore aujourd'hui on fabrique du neuf a casis dans le sud de la franche

I know that this suspension allows for much travel -unique in the 2cv vehicle- but I'd prefer a rubber brake line follow the arm swings.
..I like Tek, and I would use tek where I can in restorations.
....can I replace the 2CV engine with a motorcycle BMW Boxer or HONDA Goldwind engines??
Hi @Kris Photon. With the right kit this is certainly possible. This however requires a lot of technical knowledge and we aren't able to help you with this, nor do we sell these required parts, sorry.
