Quel plaisir de voir qu'un label français ( Irie Ites ) a su relancer la carrière du vétéran King Kong. En entendant cet énorme album Rub a Dub - Digital "Repatriation", nous attendions avec impatience le freestyle qu'il allait nous lâcher dans l'émission Party Time. Agreed....King Kong, Tenor Saw, and Nitty Gritty were the original holy trinity. Yami Bolo, Carl Meeks etc and many others? Excellent singers but for the original, 'yawning' style then the three kings have no equal.

Maximum respect to Tenor Saw. A true legend as is the great King Kong but you must get to know what you're talking about. Nitty Gritty is the originator of this style.

That singing, yawning style was started by Nitty Gritty. Tenor himself acknowledged Nitty Gritty as the "teacher". Nitty Gritty, Tenor Saw and King Kong and a few others had their own individual touch but there is no doubt who started it.
