Have not seen the adaptation yet, but the book, THAT BOOK! I am already happy becuase even bad adaptations put the title into people's minds. More publicity for this story is an absolute win! I am excited to see how the series does!
영화 한 편에서 배우가 세 가지 이상의 언어를 하는 게 흔하지 않아서 인터뷰까지 찾아보게 됐는데, 감독님의 한국어 수준이 알아듣기만 하는 정도고 말은 못하신다는 것에 진짜 긍정적으로 놀랐다. 감독으로서 반 이상의 대사를 이해하지 못하는 것이 엄청 특이한 경우인데, 협업자 간에 얼마나 많은 신뢰가 오고 갔는지 상상이 안 감. 진짜 놀랍다.
I watched the series on television, and considered it a masterpiece. Looking forward to reading the book which will be arriving soon, and for the sequel hopefully in the spring of '23.
I agree! Masterpiece! No gratuitous love story, nor people! Finally Lee Min-Ho, of which I’m a fan, playing a grown up man character and he did it beautifully! All the cast just above grade! Superb! The book from which this comes from is a great book. Well done indeed.
it was a great time, i always find it so difficult to start watching on apple, because i know, i can use up 2 box of tissue to wipe my tears. but they are all great actors/actresses. congrats, and i will find time to watch pachinko. goodnight.
Read the book first. Enjoyed it; It reminded me of a James Michener novel with multigenerational tales, involving immigrants settling in foreign lands. Surprised that they added the entire backstory of Hansu. The actors were excellent. The only frustration is waiting for the next episodes.

You did so well with casting, actors fit so well, good chemistry wiht Minha Kim and Lee Min Ho. And older Sunja catches up the volontary personnality given by Minha at young age. Either her and Min Ho are so strong characteres. Korean people deserves this kind of saga to show to the world all they went through enduring to survive and to get there. There were so many injustices covered by silence and forgiveness.This culture and country is a box of surprises, theres is much to discover, to learn from. The idea of a permanent dialogue between past and present times fonctions very well in the script and narratif structure. Though the "" present'' seams to be in the 70's évoluant jusqu'à fin années 80's Thanks to this dynamic structure flashs back fonction very well in a fluid manner. Very good work of the screen writter. And of course the original author of the book, who did a remarquable studious work as much as memory. It's truth that we can all relate to our family sagas, whatever our culture might be. Photography is sumptuous also. We hope it will continue en episodes.
