As dumb as it is, they’d have had to create new animations for it because it would be shorter. That’s why they didn’t.
@@kelsbentley2822 sims devs have gotten so lazy when it comes to making animations they either just recycle them or completely avoid them altogether (ex. taking off shoes at the door) 🙄
@@elblooderino you’re not wrong. I’m deeply irritated they won’t make new animations so we can’t have proper futons, bunk beds, proper shoe removal, etc. Just giving their (lame) reasoning.

Just so you know, the shoes racks that used to be just deco have the same functionality as the no-shoes-sign, so you don't need both.

@@chaoticsgood Unless I'm mistaken the whole taking shoes off inside thing is pack function. Without SE I think the shoe racks stay decorative.

I mean you technically could, by placing roommate advertisements and locking the doors for specific sims
you can with the roommate option! I just lock the door to my apartment and they cant go in :)

Same! Building our own custom apartment buildings was such a missed opportunity for City Living. -_-
The closest we get to it right now is having a lot with multiple units, taking in roommates, and locking their respective doors. 🤷🏾♀️

Literally one of the best creators making actual Japanese inspired builds. Lots of people doing this Japanese/western inspired fusion that doesn't really look fully like it could be in Japan but you've been doing actual Japanese looking homes and apartments. This is so perfect. Your builds are amazing!!!

It baffles me that you weren't hired to participate in the Snowy Escape pack, or that there are no futons and no mini appartments! When it was announced, I was so hopeful to see you as a builder/collaborator as well as other asian builders, just like they hired latinos and consulted people from latinoamerica to do the Hispanic Update that was so well done. Least to say I was dissapointed to see that you weren't involved in the making of the Snowy Escape pack, and especially that there are no actual appartments in Mt. Komorebi. You're a treasure to the fanbase and I hope to see EA hiring you one day
In the livestream they said they consulted with Asian people for this pack (their internal employee resource group called ASPIRE, or Asian and Pacific Islanders Represent).
@@briinahkriid That is not enough when they actively hired non-asian youtube influencers to create this pack and none of them represent this pack instead of calling for asian builders, which is what we were all hoping would happen. They could have easily called builders who have been representing their culture on a daily basis on youtube, but they chose to go for the easy way out. In the hispanic update they hired hispanic artists to make the content, which is why it's so well done, as a white latina myself I was very pleased with it because they actually went out and hired latin people to make the art and style of the update. Also, for real, no futons and no mini appartments when those are staples of asia? That's gonna be a no from me, dog.
@@cogitae I'm not disagreeing with you here, we could spend hours listing things that could have been done better, but we also have to ground our expectations. To me it's a no brainer that they should've added futons at the very least, but for the dev team that would probably be a lot of investment (new object, new animations) for what's essentially a bed.
As for the building collabs, I didn't know that about Jungle Adventures. Do you mean they got Latin Game Changers to build or just Latin employees? I thought this was the first time for non-employees to participate. But anyway, yes, in retrospect they could've found some Japanese simmers. Although I'm not aware of any myself, I'm sure they are out there. I think they simply went with the popular builder Game Changers as a way of getting free advertisement, that's all. I'm sure the actual Japanese people they consulted with would have advised them not to do it if they found it offensive to get random builders to contribute.

I was talking not Jungle Adventure, there was a hispanic free update some time ago to celebrate hispanic migration in the us and they hired Mr Cartoon and other central - south american artists and consulted the latino devs of the team to create the stuff. This is the third time non-employees work with EA, first time was in EcoLiving and second time was with the Hispanic Free Update. There are many asian cc creators and simbuilders like FreezerBunny and other asian-styled simmers on youtube, tumblr and patreon who are part of GameChangers, and they would have been much better options for the Snowy Escape. Thats why there were so many issues with historical accuracy and asian respect and the shrine/rising sun controversy in the first place, because its people who arent in touch with others history trying to cash in on it.
What pisses me is that they dont care about respecting or hiring people who would be appropiate for a certain pack. they go with whoever is popular and goes on the charts. And for a corporation that keeps claiming to be inclusive and open minded, they sure like to keep their walls white and just add ethnic decor without even double-checking if the basics are covered.
@@cogitae Oh, got it! I totally forgot about that update. I guess technically am not latina, as we Brazilians share some cultural aspects with Latin America but not all, so that update didn't speak to me on a personal level or anything. I'm happy that it was successful in being mor inclusive of our latino brothers and sisters though!
I think the big issue is that they chose to do a Japan-focused pack. Latin America has no serious beef with each other (I mean, there's rivalries and such but nothing crazy), so I don't think any of us would mind a pack being inspired by a specific culture. The thing is Korea and Japan have some heavy history. Not to mention, I think most Asians really dislike when they're all boxed into the East Asian or Japanese mould (which is what is popular in the west), so I can see why they wouldn't just go up to Asians of any nationality to participate in a Japanese-inspired pack. From what I remember, the people they credited were 2 or 3 of Japanese and 1 Korean nationality/descent (not sure). I find it really interesting that the Korean collaborator did not take issue with the clothing design or the shrine bowing during development, probably because it's not something that bothers every Korean out there. Anyway, I won't argue those things, they've already been removed and there's no going back, but I don't think there's any possibility in making everyone happy in this case.
At the end of the day, EA is a company and their job is more making money for investors than making the best game possible. I'm sure the individual devs and producers wish to develop the best game possible but such wishes are stifled by corporate plans. If the game is trying to be slightly more inclusive at times, it must be because it will help their bottom line. :/

I don't comment often but as some as snowy escape was announced you were the first builder that came to mind because of your Japanese builds. I wish they had asked you to build for the ep. Please never stop what you do and I'm looking forward to months of just Japanese builds from you
Thanks for the inspiration for building a Japanese apartment. I love the whole concept of making it into a actual Japanese home, with the small kitchen area and incorporating the bedroom and dining area as one.
I really wish you had been one of the builders and advisors for the pack as you truly know what you are doing..!
By the way, there's a building really resembling an aapato in a town I lived in, but it's like they placed it there like it's the sims by someone who had no idea what they were doing, since the staircase side that's usually on the back is on the front and it's really distracting... It looks really out of place..!

This is exactly what I've been looking for. It's perfect especially since the Sim I'm playing right now is already living in this exact lot you built the apartment on.
Every favourite builder of mine is building Japanese styled homes. I'm LIVING. Especially since I have so many Japanese families in my gameplay.
Also, since you've mentioned Mangaka/Manga Artist, their studio may require the size of two apartment units. Slap in a kitchen, bathroom and huge working space. There are more people working on a manga than a single or two people.
This is really cool, I would love the ability to create functional apartments (maybe a lot type) in the Sims. And I literally spent a couple hours yesterday to try to make a convincing futon and failed miserably. I'm going to definitely borrow that technique.
This actually reminds me a lot of the apartment I stayed in when I was studying abroad in Tokyo. I think you did a really great job on it! The one I stayed in was in a very urban setting so it was a bit smaller, and it had a separate washroom.
I'm 100% looking forward to your Japanese builds, your Newcrest series is so beautiful and I'm sure this pack will only add to that beauty... and hopefully they'll add futons to the game soon!!

Reminds me of the "Let's Eat" series on Netflix....all those little apts next to each other. Some characters have them all decorated beautifully and kept clean, and others, just a thick blanket on the floor to sleep and books and trash and cans laying around, lol

Your japanese builds in the sims 4 are the most accurate ones I can find!!!... not saying others are not accurate, but there's always one or two 'weird' things in other players' builds
Oh, and can you please build an onsen 😁😁 I'd like to see you're take on it. It would be great if u can make separate baths for male and female too since most Japanese onsens are actually like that.
Just so you know, you don’t have to use the platform tool after building the floor plan. I see a lot of youtubers do that. You can just click on the room and raise the platform from that tiny window that pops up. It’s the arrows that are pointed up and down. This way you won’t have to rebuild walls, repaint, etc. 😊 I hope this helps!

that's such a neat futon trick! gonna try it out today. I think there's cc futons out there, but I get so overwhelmed by cc that I avoid it where I can. I'll definitely use this starter for a salaryman save, it fits the vibe perfectly.

Not sure if you know, but when you don't want the no shoes sign, you can instead place down a shoe rack. That object now has the same shoe/slipper/no shoe options added to it.

There aren't any Tabi socks for my sims to wear with their kimono :((( And there aren't even any socks without different coloured toes and heels, so I have to make them wear these tights that would be fine except they have this annoying seam :((((((
Not to mention that there aren't any futon and the houses (while still brilliant and I love all the simmers who built them) weren't properly researched and there weren't any built by Japanese simmers :((((((( I love the pack but I really think it could've been better :(
