  • In golf club fittings at 2nd Swing, master club fitters use a plethora of launch monitor data, including golf attack angle, to help dial in golfers for the equipment that's right for their swing. But what is golf attack angle and how does it impact a golfer's performance?
    In this video, 2nd Swing's Thomas Campbell and Jackie Johnson use Trackman technology to explain what golf attack angle is and why it's important.
    This video in the Trackman Tuesday series covers golf attack angle.

    Interesting test. Some good insight on the numbers and overall results,
    especially with the wedge distances . Well done guys.

    This is a great discussion on "attack angle". I've never given the ball position much attention to my game. I put it back with my wedges and center it with most of my clubs. So I am a skuller and a digger. Any tips for a golfer who can't consistently find the bottom of his swing with any club?
    Thank you Jackie and Thomas!

      Thanks for watching. I would recommend the towel drill. Place a towel 6-8 inches behind the ball and hit shots avoiding the towel but also hitting down and taking a divot, I would also gradually move that ball position further forward as the clubs get longer. 1/2 inch per club forward to be exact - Thomas

      @@2ndswing I've seen that recommended on other golf instruction channels. I'll give it a whirl thank you!

    This is an interesting video. I had the opportunity to take a gc quad on the course yesterday, and i tested two different drivers and one was spinning slightly over 3000 and one around 2300. The driver spinning 3000 was carrying 265 and the other one was carrying 285. The funny result though was when i got up to my balls in the fairway the higher spinning driver was actually further. It just goes to show a lot of times when we are in an indoor environment optimizing numbers, on the actual course you hardly notice those margins. And the variables of the turf conditions that day moisture etc have a huge effect in the actual final result.

      Agree with the turf conditions. Carry distances are very accurate but from there how the course plays will effect the total distance - Thomas

    Hello, thanks for great videos, 2nd Swing you are my favorite TH-cam channel.
    Jackie we have the same swingspeed about 90 with the driver. I play Callaway Mavrik 10,5 with a projekt x evenflow riptide 50 graphite shaft regular. My average attack angel is 2 and spin rate about 3000. Iam thinking of changing shaft, can you recommend some shaft to test ? Or other recommendations ?

    Great video and incredibly interesting. I do sometimes look at my own numbers in comparison and ask myself......if I have greater ball speed, similar launch, spin, spin axis how do your clubs go 10% further? 7 iron being an example I'm a 165 yard man with a greater ball speed than shown on here and all other factors in almost exactly the same stats, but you're hitting it over 185 yards. Again on Jackie stats LPGA 7 iron averages 104mph ball speed 141 carry....Jackie is doing the same carry from 4mph less ball speed @99.8mph. There's something strange occurring, what is it??

    It would have been interesting to have put a hybrid into the mix, maybe end an argument of hitting down or not.Did Jackie have an offset 7 iron? How much would that impact the results. Maybe a video on offset help consumers decide how much offset, etc

      @2ndswing  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the feedback. Great video ideas. There is not much offset on Jackie's 7iron - Thomas

    is there an 'ideal" AOA chart for all different clubs going from wedge to driver ? I know it"s part individual but are there guidelines ? thx

    • @2ndswing
      @2ndswing  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      There are some charts out there that show what tour averages are but in short no everyone is different and even tour level ranges a lot - Thomas

    I'm normally around 2-5* in to out and around 8* down with my wedges. I'm about 1-2 i-o and 3-5 down with 7i, close to 0 and 4-6* up on driver.

    • @2ndswing
      @2ndswing  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is very typical. It's much harder to swing in to out with a longer club (driver) than a iron or wedge. - Thomas

    At 1:38 you show 5* lean equals -3 attack and 12* lean -11 attack so what happened to the extra 1*.....😂😂😂😂
