I am def 1 of those jelous dads lol!!!! Im stuck in an apartment and cant even trust the playground to b safe... I believe in wholesome and long lasting values.. Id rather take my kids in the woods to climb trees and have them learn how to use and READ a tape. Great job dad!!! U must have a wife that values u and believes in ur capabilities. That's a rare quality in women now a day. Congrats ur an inspiration to all guys that love being a dad!!!!

Why are people complaining about this build? Its just a play area for his little son not a fucking house that needs to be build according to building codes. With that being said, nice job sir Im sure it will last till he grows old enough to lose interest on it. This inspired me to build one thanks for sharing.

Because he doesn't understand how to build in a tree that moves in the wind and grows. The first big storm could shatter the whole thing like a tornado hit is. In addition, he has bolts just inches apart that will cause the tree to compartmentalize that area, basically killing it off. Then those bolts will be holding nothing but dead wood. If his kids are in there when that gives...

RCLegion while we understand it's not supposed to be up to code some of us are offering constructive criticism on what could have been done to make it more secure, better etc. The thing with youtube is you can show anything being done 100% correctly and someone will always have an argument from what ive seen. I watch this old house episodes with pros building shit by the book and you still get internet pros criticising parts that were done wrong. Go figure....
On the flip side some comments are just assholes saying the whole thing is going to fall apart etc.

RCLegion for what its worth the poster did a great job and im sure he isnt a master carpenter but probably a weekender. Hell he may not even know anything about this field but it looked like a fun project and im sure his son is stoked.

Curious how much he participated in building it.
Also, interesting choice of background music... 😂
Would be cool to see a follow up video 3-4 years later on how it’s held up with commentary on what you would do differently if you could.

      🤞🤞 Dear Friend, 🤞🤞
I have been making tree houses since I was very small.
My dad loved to help me, and he created some life long memories that I will cherish forever.
Buying a ready-built tree house doesn't have the same effect.. and it costs a heck of a lot more too.
I'd like to show you how you can have a treehouse plan to build a safe, affordable,
all weather tree house that lasts for years... and in as little as one weekend. 🤞🤞

As the tree growes it is going to either grow around th boards or break them. Get 10" nails and leave 2 or 3" sticking out past the board-don't drive them all the way in. Then don't notch the top beam and attach it with a small chain. This way everything can expand as th tree growes.

I would suggest joist hangers and blocking between the joist to make the base more secure but for what it is good build. I guess its supported enough for a few kids. You def shoulda left room for some tree growth where your plywood was cut around the tree.
Cutting your rafters and notching the crows feet looked pretty clean.
Just curious how much did it run you in material costs? I would guess anywhere from $700-800 ?

@@ricardosworkshop i live pretty much anon. i was known in the engineer field ...got sick of the attention at conferences. I can make an exception for the idea. I own properties in NH, ID and TX to name a few this is a ID idea. I am 3500 ft level about a half mile front tree line. It is at the tail end of access mining and logging roads. the closest hospital is Canada. You carry armed up there because of the people running from the law. I have owned it for 30 years, never a problem with the cabin. too cold most of the year. the snow keeps the driving down so we snow mobile up. fantastic hunting, we feed the animals year round through a company that hires USGS and Department of Interior Interns. I will send you a site that shows them setting up cameras. In the spring we drive this jallopy, it is a car with a box welded to it. old deer mothers that are too weak to care for fawns leave them on the mining roads. if we get to them first the animals dont get them. we take them to the USGS building and they send them to vets.
      rusic as you might imagine.
The TX property is basically three farms and we work with a few others. we feral pig hunt and grind up the pigs to feed raptors ...one mountain farm has three eagles living on it full time. there are a few farms that raise sick cows for the leather and the meat goes to feeding animals.
sounds like allot huh! I know a few people like you on YT ..just enjoying life ..say hi to the family lol

The tree will grow around the lumber over time. The lag bolts wont hurt it like you think it would. I'm 30 years old and the tree house we built at 15 years old is still standing today. I dont trust the floor enough to go up in it but it is still there and a reminder of my friend (a army veteran) who has passed. Build it 🙂👍

  • @alfriedar
    @alfriedar 6 ปีที่แล้ว +9

This tree has a lot of growing to do.. it will get thicker .. doesn't seem to have room for it to do that .. so it will get crippled or it will bust out of that center frame section..

    • @mitchchadbourn1952

Build that box larger around the tree, double up with 2x12 and use smooth 1" - 1-1/2" lag bolts, give it about 4" all the way around to grow. The lags will slide as the tree grows. Do the same with 4 angle supports on the corners for stability. That's a lot of weight teetering at the center.
