I do like the name striding stick, may adapt that name, more character than a walking stick, enjoyed this outing as well thank you for sharing your day😊😊👍👍
Sounds like a productive and adventurous day! A striding stick, a powerbank bonus, and some hazel work-practical and creative all in one. Love seeing these kinds of outdoor projects like 10 + sub
I have brought loads of sticks indoors and i always pop them on a double radiator . To keep it straight mainly . Only done holly though . Your bird vids are great . I love robins . Theyre silent runners
@@lifesahobby I particularly love Robins they seem to be the friendliest/bravest birds around they will fly within arms reach of you when they feel the time is right, and if you really lucky they will give a song. I loved the comment that Robins are lost friends as they seemingly aim the song at you.
@@lifesahobby surprised you got away with the radiator I gathered a holly branch two years ago and it split not badly but enough maybe you are onto something with holly 🫡🙌
@@badgerandthewoodsman The holly I find is a certain type . I look for an old tree, damaged at some point in time , a branch falls away from the tree as if broken . On the broken branch it creates some straight green shoots that grow straight up through the tree , reaching lengths as tall as the tree itself with some leafs growing at the very top . I saw off the entire shoot and pull it out of the tree . Within that length there will be a section as wide as my thumb and as wide as my ring finger . With knots or branches leading off it . I will make sure that two of these knots are spaced about 6 inches from my next two cuts . For the best stick I want it from under my chin to the ground . It will be bright green , the bark . Soft ISH and very easy to carve at this stage . I do all the carving for finger grips at this point . Then I place it on the radiator for a week or two . The bark will go brown over these days and at times I will straighten it gently . If I leave it standing in a corner it will bend out of shape . They are the most incredible sticks for hiking , able to take my entire upper body weight for a few seconds . I hope this helps
@lifesahobby maybe i have to earn my Hollywood stick, set amount of subscriptions 🙌 thanks for giving me your methodologies in this, I've seen the tall shafts growing from a broken or layered branch, nice straight green poles. I just checked and the bit I thought was holly was infact hawthorn that had split in drying, I've heard black thorn is used a lot very strong wood with interesting knots and often considered to be linked with the dark arts 😂🫡 thanks again bud... BatW ✌️
Nice one, Badger, A robin (my favourite bird) can fly at 20 to 35 miles an hour. Beautiful little birds. One loves to have a bath in my bird bath right outside my sitting room window. I love the name striding stick. Did you make that name up, or is it a genuine name?

A Strider, an ally that would accompany you on many lengthy adventures.
A mighty strider with a +1 mph option, thanks bud ✌️🌍
I missed this one
Nice stick badger sir
If you have no pva glue cling film and tape over the ends should work
That little fan looked like it’s got some power in it😂💪
Glad it has a sticks approval 🫡 yea the fan is a beast barely contained 💪
Will try pva glue as I have some thanks for tips 🫡
If you put a bit of pva glue on the ends it should stop it from cracking
Thanks bud I bow down to your knowledge of these things 🫡👍

Also maybe it's like a magicians wand, and the wood chooses it's owner and will simply split in the wrong hands 😂
