It's probably because this whole song is auto tuned. It's easier to set a separate mic to auto tune than to try and switch between normal and auto tune on one device. I've seen many people do the same thing, particular Takuya from UVERworld. For certain songs you sometimes see him holding two mics where one is on auto tune and the other is normal.
