Hey BW! Glenn had mentioned that about doing videos just before sunset. It's actually the only time I really get a chance to do videos. lol So it works out great. I'll probably do the video on real convertibles here soon. I watched a old 56 Chevy convertible sell for 35k and I knew it was a conversion. About a month later it was back up for sale and the new owner was selling it as a conversion, not a real convertible. It sold for 10k so he possibly lost 25k knowing what the car really was. 55 Chevys had alot of odd stuff because it was the first year for the 12 volt system. Later Buddy
Glad ya see y an active again buddy , always my pleasure , to watch ya, YOU, AND Dan at DD SPEED SHOP INSPIRED ME TO DO MY 56 2 dr wagon . Not sure some times blessings or curse lol in 10k now just getting goin but Washington state , carport shop gettin wet and cold here lol
Big Don glad to see that sweet 55 outside. Will you try to repair that grill mount. It does look like it can be done. That engine compartment is so clean you have to feel good every time you pop that hood.
Don, If i remember, don't you have to polarize the generator so it will charge. Look into that before you replace the regulator. Just deburnish the relay contacts on the coils of the regulator if they are good. Remember one coil is for voltage the other coil is for current. Good luck with it.
Hey Harvey! I did try to polarize the generator but it still doesn't charge. I can pop the cover off the regulator and see what the contact points look like. Later Buddy
Love the car! I hate to nitpick but that rusty radiator cap on the convertible needs some attention. That’s not what I would expect from Don’s HRG! Your cars are awesome 😎
Thanks Randy! Yeah I'm going to buy a new radiator cap. That system is not done because the water pump leaks radiator has a pin hole and I've bypassed the heater core. That is still exactly the same as it was on the first start. I'm doing whatever hits my mind first on the car. Later man I been enjoying your videos
Ha! Ha! Don Yep that chrome and stainless really pops right before dark .Too bad its only for a short time. Convertible looks sweet! Try that Mequiars # 45 boat gelcoat polish(blue bottle) youll be amazed on the chrome wipe on wipe off...Hey Don after over 50 years I just learned my car was a Belair grey with a blue interior 503 interior code and 594 paint.Thought it was green on the outside when I pulled the trim around the lower rear glass back in 2006 but Im color blind, HA! who knew. I never looked up the Vin till now so its pretty cool for me to know after so many years.....later my friend..
@@donshotrodgarage1717 Yeah you are right a little personal satisfaction for all us tri-five owners or even all classic cars to find out about are vintage car originality, its so cool. Somewhere between 1955 and 1969 mine was painted at Earl Sheibs dark blue thats how I got it for $50, HA. I had it painted Gold in 1970 & then I did it in 1975 in Black laquer. Mind you my 55 was only 14 years old when purchased then no rust floorboards and rockers, etc. when I got it just the headlight caps slightly.Anyway like Cher says if we could only Turn Back Time... later ...
@@donshotrodgarage1717 Yeah Don Im a real relentless, repeat, pest, reminder for sure ,HA! I did a video on my 55 rear bumper awhile back but it got deleted by mistake with that #45 polish .Maybe you could do one with your front bumper & chrome on your convertible in near future. I got mine on Amazon Prime. Oh and yeah right before dark or bright sun whenever before it gets too cold out,HA!
Hey Don! Winter is rapidly approaching. I've been chipping away at the car but it still needs alot of work. I do plan on running the hood bird on the car. Not sure if it'll be on this hood or the other louvered hood I have in storage. I guess that will be later on.
Thanks Buddy. The rims are 17x8 on the back and 17x7 on the front. I believe the rear tires are 275,45 and the front are 237/50 maybe. I'll double check. Later
Hey Neil. The headlight eyybrow chrome bezels come from J.C. Whitney! They tough to find anymore and was produced in later 55 through probably the early 1958 year. J.C. Whitney sold alot of cool stuff for cars for many many years. Later

Glenn is a wise man, because the car looks great in the dusk light. 😊
Great idea going over what makes a real convertible. Learning new things is always cool. Like the screw locations on the regulator caps
