As an Assyrian, I'm very proud of these brave Assyrians! but, they are so misled by their leaders. I mean why would an Assyrian fighter who represent an Assyrian force be wearing a Peshmerga Kurdish uniform? why not design our own Assyrian military uniform so that the whole world knows its an Assyrian force and not Kurdish? Did the Kurdish authority object to it? do they tell us what to do in our own home (Assyria)? what exactly is the nature of ZOWAA's relationship with the Kurdish authority?
This was during the time that the Kurds were also fighting for an independent state and we sided with them with the idea that both groups would be given their own land and we could work together. The point was to show unity, but obviously now we can see that the KRG turned its back on us.
I don't think that's the reason! we have to assume they paid for these uniforms, right? unless it was given to them for free; in that case you don't want to take anything for free from Kurds Had ZOWAA leaders asked the Iraqi central government for an Assyrian autonomous region, Assyrians would have their own budget from the Iraqi authority; then they can afford everything with their own money, and not beg our murderers (Kurds) for our own money. The Kurds are using our oil money against us.
