Man, something about women back in that time, so much beauty radiating from them. Mrs Pickford here, Clara Bow, Louise Brooks, Fay Wray, all simply gorgeous.

That just made my day. Now see, this just proves again how talented she was. I'm so glad that she was celebrated in her heyday and not after. She contributed so much. Watching this makes you see why people loved her then and why she is still talked about today. Thanks for this!

🎬📽️ Mary Pickford was a phenomenal mind, powerful and a philanthropist . So this it's a delicious little film who helped collect money through suggesting people to buy Liberty bonds during first World War to support American government at that time .

ah that first look up and smile, exudes such a ah hello how are you, till she sees that big lug step on her foot and does not notice he is on her foot, ah this happened so long ago almost a century how much of our contry has changed, yet much of the old remains like old stout alcohol in the celler still there strong as ever, but somewhat forgotten, though still good and untainted.

I wonder what it's like just being, say, 80% American?

Eat the ice cream? Or kill the Hun? You know what to do, America. Meanwhile, Pickford probably sold more war bonds than anyone (possible exception: Bob Hope). Well, she was cute as a bug; how could you not do what she told you to do? Watching this, I was brought back to the mandatory TV documentary series from 1980, "Hollywood: Celebrating the American Silent Film". There was an hour-long episode devoted to this subject called "Hollywood Goes to War". Cecil B. DeMille made up a colonel's outfit for himself and dressed his actors and crew, including Pickford, in snappy fake uniforms. Pretty tacky, given that men - including those in DeMille's company - were being sent off to die, for realsies, in the killing fields of France. His niece Agnes DeMille seemed embarrassed to relate the anecdotes, which also included a sour observation that Mary Pickford smiled and kissed her boys away to a real War which some did not come back from. If you're here, you should watch that 13-part series. Of course, if you're here, you probably already have.
